Letter

Two representatives of the Jewish Russian community came to Jewish Family Service to personally present the agency with the following letter along with flowers as a thank you during Thanksgiving 2020. At this challenging time in our world and community, JFS wanted to share these sincere words of gratitude from local members of the Tidewater Jewish community.

TO: The United Jewish Federation of Tidewater

Jewish Family Service of Tidewater

FROM: Russian Senior Members of Jewish Family Service and their Families

Dear Friends:

We congratulate you and Jewish Family Service with Thanksgiving Day and wish

you all the best! We also would like to thank you for help to Russian members from Jewish Family Service. Every year we receive gifts on Passover, Rosh Hashanah, and Purim. At this difficult year with COVID-19 Pandemic, we received special gifts: money, masks, and gloves. We appreciate for your assistance and kindness.

Case Manager, Alla Gean works with us for almost 20 years and gives to us professional help and advice with all our needs: health, finance, and

others. Alla Gean helped us to receive Medicare and Medicaide, appointments to doctors with transportation and translation, hearing aids, glasses, and home care. She helped us with the paperwork for Food Stamps, vouchers to Farmers’ Market, fuel assistance, and Medicaid annual renewal.

We learned English as a second language at Temple Israel with a wonderful teacher Mrs. Elsa Borman and Alla Gean provided us with text books. We all passed the examination for citizenship and we are proud to be American citizens. We enjoyed interesting parties on Victory Days and International Women’s Days.

We thank you all very much and wish to you healthy and happy Thanksgiving Day.

Your grateful: (Individual Signatures of 23 JFS New American Clients)
