rime Minister Mykola Azarov has proposed that Shell join the production of natural gas from traditional and depleted fields in Ukraine. He announced this at a meeting with the company’s delegation on July 10 in Kyiv. “I want to invite Shell to join gas production not only from unconventional reservoirs, including shale, and also its production from traditional fields,” Azarov said. However, he noted that
Andy Brown, Upstream International Director at Royal Dutch Shell, noted that the company is interested in cooperating with Ukraine in the traditional hydrocarbon production
Ukraine now installs special gas stations, which increase the pressure on the
existing and depleted fields, and in particular it allows to increase hydrocarbon production by 25-30%, which means that Ukraine is interested in attracting Shell advanced experience. Andy Brown, Upstream International Director at Royal Dutch Shell, noted that the company is interested in cooperating with Ukraine in the traditional hydrocarbon production. “We could cooperate and share knowledge, jointly developing depleted and traditional deposits, we could
convey to you our technology,” Brown noted. He said that now Shell in the Netherlands uses special technology to increase gas from depleted fields, in particular the experience can be transmitted to Ukraine. A reminder that the Ukrainian government signed an agreement with Shell on the distribution of products for the production of shale gas in Yuzivska area, the resources of which are estimated at more than four trillion cubic meters of gas.
european integration
European integration begins at regional level and has no alternative
U
kraine is strengthening European integration at the regional level, to which there can be no
alternative. This was the main line of the meeting of Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul (pictured) and Hande Bozatli, President of the Assembly of European Regions (AER). “Cooperation with the AER is a practical dimension of European integration. European integration of Ukraine starts in the regions. Nine
regions in Ukraine have already joined this powerful European organization. Our goal is to ensure that all 27 regions become members of the AER,” Vilkul said. He also noted that the state regional development strategy until 2020 is currently at the final stage: “Each region in Ukraine has its own strengths and unique peculiarities.
The state regional development strategy until 2020 should reveal hidden possibilities of the regions and give a new impetus to their development,” Vilkul said. AER includes more than 260 member regions from 33 countries and 14 interregional organizations. Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kherson, Kirovograd, Kyiv, Lviv, Odessa and Vinnytsia regions of Ukraine are currently AER members. Luhansk region is about to be ratified as a member of the organization. www.ukremb.org.uk

T
he Government of Ukraine pays particular attention to preserving common historical heritage of Ukraine and Great Britain. This was stated by Vice Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul at the solemn ceremony of opening of the memorable sign in honour of the British Air Squadron’s visit. Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister told about another remarkable dimension of the Ukrainian-British cooperation in cultural sphere - the monument to Mary Seacole, which is to be erected in
London in 2015. The nurse of creole origin Mary Seacole looked after troops from both sides during the Crimean War of 18531856. The main idea of the monument in her honour is to reflect the link between Mary Seacole and the Crimea. With this aim the British sculptor Martin Jennings and his team are visiting Ukraine. The partner of
his visit is the Ukrainian International Airlines. “The Government of Ukraine supports the visit of the British sculptor Martin Jennings (pictured) to Ukraine. He will come to the Crimea this September to work on the monument, namely to explore historic place where Mary Seacole’s hospital was located,” Oleksandr Vilkul said.
