21 YEARS OF ANDREW MULVENNA HAIR

Andrew Mulvenna Hair celebrates its 21st birthday this year and has led the way in creating a brand that shows how, when focused on ‘the great client experience’ and guiding the development of the team a salon can flourish even in uncertain times.

Andrew says, “Our mission always has been to provide the highest level of skills matched with incredible service, every time and all within an inspiring space. There’s no denying we want to take the salon visit to another level but I’ve always felt it was the right way to go. We have been evolving over twenty-one years as I’ve had two other salons before I purchased the Bank Building in 2018. Each was very different from any other salon I’d ever been in. A great interior space can be so exciting to be in and work in.

The Victorian Bank was a huge project to take on but it felt natural as the next step for us as a brand and we had a big team by then of almost thirty staff. My previous salon was a

Title Sponsor very large space on a ground floor, styled on a cool life-style shop called ‘Colette’ in Paris. It was edgy and bright like a cool department-store and suited the time, but after ten years we had outgrown it. The bank was the perfect place for us and it oozed so much character. I like to think we have brought a lot of life back into it and given it a new chapter, as well as a face lift. Now it feels like we work in a very nice home and I think clients feel that too.

I’ve never shied away from understanding that we provide a service and the greatest reward is when you work alongside an amazing team of motivated, creative people making customers really happy, that’s when magic happens.”

I constantly remind myself and my team that we are in the ‘happiness business’ and with every client it’s like ‘day one’, that first visit – requiring the very best of you!

Producing beautifully crafted hair that really suits our clients, simply works and is reflective of the person and their aspirations is the bedrock of our business and the emotional lift of a ‘great salon visit’ is an undeniably powerful part of that.

“It goes without saying that my business is a reflection of the people that work within it. I have always valued my team as individuals and realise their importance, not just of being highly skilled, but the personality and heart they bring to the party too. We are all about meaningful careers here too at Andrew Mulvenna Hair. Training and development are our top priorities and we invest in these areas quite a bit but I think really it translates through to the customer. Leanne [my General Manager] is incredible at the helm with me as are all my team.”
