All Hail XXL!
Are you wearing XXL? If not, you should be! On the runways, brands like Balenciaga, Peter Do, and Marc Jacobs have all shown XXL shapes in denim, dresses, and suiting. A close friend who works in fashion has long advised me to size up on clothes to give a high-end feel to high street pieces. It’s worth sizing up in suits, trousers and jackets, jeans and most definitely go XXL in shirts! Regular readers of this column know I buy my most-loved oversized shirts in the men’s section of local charity shops! A fraction of the cost of many high street and designer brands, along with the bonus of knowing that buying second hand clothes reduce landfill and are much better for the environment. RIP skinny jeans, it’s all about the baggy fit. In jeans, Bella Hadid wore an impeccable pair after the Balenciaga couture show in Paris last month. Big denim is the perfect entry point into the oversized trend – it’s a versatile, wear-witheverything piece. The key to oversized jeans is they need to be really big throughout, except for the waist. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the proportion, throw on a heel, a little bit of height and glamour help to offset the volume. Let’s get supersized folks!

Time To Get Cosy!
They say you most love the season you were born in, if that’s true with an October birthday, it’s no wonder autumn is by far my favourite time of the year. The beautiful bounty of shades and colours that mother nature delivers, light fading in the evenings and that lovely crisp nip in the air means it’s time to snuggle up and get cosy. Every autumn I’m on the hunt for a beautiful knitwear piece, something I can easily integrate into my wardrobe, to wear solo or layer up. The Orla Collection from luxury locally based handbag and knitwear brand Taylor Yates has created the most divine knit wear including skinny sweaters and tanks, each piece hand-knit in Belfast, from fine knit, ultra-soft, 100% Merino wool. Handmade to order – discover the collection www.tayloryates.com
“When I was younger, I loved art and being creative, I never imagined I would get to do it every day and love every minute of it. My journey started in the beauty industry in 1998 after working as a Beauty therapist for 5 years, I went onto train in 2003 with Karen Betts at Nouveau Contour in Micro pigmentation. Although I have many years’ experience in both industries, I specialise now in permanent makeup, I am continually educating myself with the latest techniques, highest quality pigments and machines, as the PMU industry is always evolving and I’ve got to watch how it has grown into a true art form.
I have worked with many clients of all ages throughout my career but my passion lies with hair loss as having had alopecia myself it is very close to my heart. I work closely with cancer charities & I am the NI representative for the Katie Piper foundation, this charity is for a brighter future for all survivors of burns or scars.
In June of this year, I was nominated in the Northern Ireland Hair and Beauty Awards for Semi-Permanent makeup artist of the year 2022 and won highly commended to which I was delighted. My main aim is to help everyone gain the confidence they dream of.”
