Welcome to the 2020 Celebration of Excellence.

Circumstances necessitated that we honor outstanding members of our community without the large gathering the college traditionally hosts each spring. This publication is part of that effort.

In the following pages you will meet faculty and students who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the University of Maine’s three-part mission of research, teaching and service. Their contributions have made our university a better place. It is an honor to call them members of our community.

Their achievements are also a reflection of the fellowship shared by our faculty, students and friends. Thank you for helping make our institution a great place to work and learn.

I can say without hesitation that with people like you at our side, I am optimistic about what lies ahead.
