Communique – New Faculty of Health Sciences Visual Identity August 20, 2014 The University of Manitoba Marketing Communications Office (MCO) developed the visual identity of the new Faculty of Health Sciences to identify it as one unified, interprofessional faculty. It also recognized the importance of enabling constituent colleges to represent themselves consistently in their communications.
Logos: The horizontal Faculty Extension for the Faculty of Health Sciences uses the same construction as our current visual identity, but does not accommodate the previous layer for department, or introduce a new layer for colleges. This supports our objective of a consistent identity for the new Faculty. One common Visual Identity allows all colleges, schools and departments to author their communications in a unified visual voice as Faculty of Health Sciences.
MCO also introduced a new vertical Faculty Extension. These identifiers won’t be used in isolation. See below how they will impact some collateral applications to allow for better recognition of the Faculty, constituent Colleges, and related departments.
Stationery Stationery follows the existing templates for the University of Manitoba. The Faculty of Health Sciences extension is used on letterhead, with the College affiliation represented as the first line in the address area and department/unit second line in the address area. On return addressed envelopes, the institutional visual identity is used – with the Faculty and College leading the address area followed by department/unit where applicable.
Business Cards On the business card, the Faculty extension is used, with the individual’s title, College and department/unit (if applicable) recognized. Please use the guidelines below for proper business card formatting when ordering business cards. See FHS Visual Identity FAQs for more details on business card formats.
Posters, Report Covers and Other Collateral These templates demonstrate that even with a common Faculty-based signoff, there is opportunity to differentiate between colleges and departments. Various visual treatments will yield different opportunities for differentiation, and placement of headline or title.
