Doyle Community Fund Grant UMass Memorial HealthAlliance Foundation The UMass Memorial HealthAlliance Foundation recipients of the “Strategic Funding Round” for the Doyle Community Fund were awarded the one-time grants which will help fund initiatives that align with our objectives and address prevention, intervention and education when looking at the opioid crisis within our community. UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital has partnered with several regional community members to form a regional Opioid Task Force. The collaborative is focused on three primary areas: Emergency Department and Inpatient Care, Outpatient Follow Up Care, and Community Engagement and Education. Members of the Task Force include UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital front line staff, managers and directors, hospital board of trustees members, physicians, recovery coaches, Community Health Connections, Community Health Link, LUK, Inc., Fitchburg Police Department, Fitchburg Fire Department, AED Foundation, Recovery Centers of America, Spectrum House, Department of Children and Families, Clean Slate, and several community members. All proceeds were made available through the generosity of our donors and sponsors at the 2017 Golf Classic.

You’re in the right place. Community Campaign As part of the Emergency Department expansion, the “You’re in the right place” campaign has a goal of raising $2.5 million of the total cost through a combination of philanthropic support from the community and the generosity of our caregivers. As behavioral health patient volume continues to rise within our Emergency Departments, we recognize the increased need for behavioral health navigation and case management services. Through the generous support of our caregivers and the community at large, additional resources, education and support will be implemented to continue to meet the needs our patients, our community and our caregivers. Your contribution will truly make a difference.

When you need us, we are ready!
Emergency Room Expansion It has been almost 20 years since UMass Memorial - HealthAlliance Hospital last expanded our Emergency Department. Demand for services has grown well beyond expectations and now exceeds available capacity. Our current space was built to accommodate 20,000 visits per year. Our Emergency Department now sees more than twice that number, with over 47,000 visits receiving treatment in 2016. To address this greater demand, we implemented a “Door to Care” program in 2015. This program eliminated the triage process and focused on getting patients into a room and with a physician—quickly. This program addressed waiting-room overcrowding, and in two years resulted in a 20 percent increase in capacity. Although this model decreases wait times to see a physician, due to the significant space constraints patients were often asked to wait in the hallways as the treatment rooms were completely full. Without more space, our Emergency Department can not accommodate the rising number of patients seeking services. We need your continued support.
