Caring for 32 years UMass Memorial has been taking care of me and my family for the past 32 years: My sister's diabetes, my Crohn's Disease and brain cancer, and my mom's uterine cancer....THANK YOU to the doctors and nurses of UMass Memorial! - Dave McGrath

I’m well because…you have been awesome to me. I am a diabetic. Dr. Malkani has been my endocrinologist for at least 12 years and has brought my diabetes under control. I also have Stiff Persons Syndrome, which only 350 people in the country have. It took five doctors, but finally Dr. Pertusi, who is no longer with UMass Memorial, found the problem, medicated it with diazepam and took away the incredible pain. I also see Dr. Moonis to keep an eye on my SPS, and Dr. Chopra maintains my physical condition for my SPS. My primary care, Dr. Bennet has been the most caring and supportive person for all my conditions, and your lab staff have been outstanding! I will never go to another facility other than UMass Memorial, unless recommended to do so. You have been awesome to me. Thank you! — Eric Miller

‌ I hope she reads this A family member was recently diagnosed with juvenile diabetes and was immediately admitted by Mary Lindholm, who has a wonderful bedside manner. Wisely, the patient was sent to the pediatrics ward where a topnotch crew of nurses provided thorough counseling, nutrition and diabetes care education, plus emotional support. Also, a doctor visited simply to share her own experience as a diabetic. This visit, because the doctor was so positive and upbeat, brought great relief and hope to the patient. I wish I knew the name of the doctor so that I could thank her. I hope she reads this. - Laura Fontaine

Can’t imagine going anywhere else UMass Memorial High Risk OB played a huge part in the health of myself and my three children (plus 1 on the way). My oldest is 18, and my soon to come daughter is due 3/17/15. Being a type I diabetic and now 39 years old, they have a challenge on their hands, but greet me every time with such a personal touch. Can't imagine going anywhere else. - Patricia Rydlak

UMass Memorial is the best UMass Memorial is the best. My son (11 years old) was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes a year ago in September, and he has Dr. Angelesco; she is so kind to him and is always available. This past September my same son was diagnosed with Celiac. He was treated by Dr. Lirio...again one of the nicest doctors I have ever met!!!! - Erin Mateer Goulet

Amazing care from the endocrinology department I am well because I was fortunate to be in the transplant program at UMass Memorial which has an amazing team of dedicated physicians, surgeons, nurses and support staff. My father had PKD and began seeing his nephrologist Dr. Jeffrey Stoff in the eighties. Four of the five children in my family inherited PKD. Because of Dr. Stoff's amazing care, it was natural for each of us to seek him out for care as we each got to the point of needing the care of a nephrologist. My sister even traveled from Northampton to receive her care from Dr. Stoff. He and the capable, compassionate team at UMass Memorial have treated six members of our family with PKD and helped myself and three siblings to navigate the road to living donor kidney transplant. These folks feel like a part of my family. My youngest also has type 1 diabetes, and we receive amazing care from the endocrinology department. We have felt fully supported and cared for at UMass Memorial. We are grateful for all they do for us and so many others. - Pamela Bushey
