Andrew Smeby - Catalyst 2015

Pepper Architecture University of Minnesota Catalyst 2015 Instructor: Hideyuki Nakayama

Working with drawings and sketch models, I felt that my most successful moments came from the most simple motions - cutting and sinking, or elevating. I also tried to restrict myself to using one bell pepper per iteration. Working back and fourth - cutting and drawing - I started to develop low, open spaces that related to the landscape.

For my final model, I simplified and refined the successful moments of my sketch models. The design still draws upon a landscape theme, creating public spaces from simple moves.
