Public Health’s Dr. Emily Cherenack Will Conduct Advanced Post-doctoral Research on Mental Health, HIV and the Microbiome
Dr. Emily Cherenack, who is a post-doctoral scholar at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Department of Public Health Sciences, has been granted a Ruth L. Kirschstein Postdoctoral Individual National Research Service Award (also known as an F32) from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) to pursue advanced research and training relevant to the microbiome.

Ph.D. in Prevention Science and Community Health Program
Student examines resilience with a personal lens Ruth Gaelle St. Fleur, a current Ph.D. in Prevention Science and Community Health candidate at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine's Department of Public Health Sciences, has constantly dealt with resilience throughout her life. Now, for her dissertation, St. Fleur is examining how resilience can impact the quality of life and physical health of cancer survivors by focusing on biomarkers of inflammation that often increases with stress.

PHSA BREAST CANCER AWARENESS WEEK
The Public Health Student Association (PHSA) organized a week of activities in celebration of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Donations will be accepted to contribute to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. If you would like to donate to the Sylvester fundraiser, please reach out to PHSA at umiamiphsa@miami.edu.

The Department of Public Health Sciences has joined the Cane2Cane (C2C) Career & Mentorship Network by launching two groups: Public Health Sciences Group and MPH Capstone Group. The C2C platform offers a space for University of Miami students and alumni to connect with alumni, faculty/staff, and friends of the U for mentoring opportunities, career advice, knowledge sharing, and networking.
