SUNSHINE DAY
FROM THE EDITOR
Now more than ever, we all could benefit from the mood-boosting powers of sunshine. If you’re craving some solar therapy, make a plan to (safely!) take advantage of all the daylight the season has to offer.
Gotta get out, get me some of those rays!
8 a.m. 8:00 a.m Start the day with some gentle yoga in the morning sun; include some sun salutations. 9 a.m. Whip up a sunrise smoothie and 9:00 a.m some sunny side-up eggs. 10 a.m. Beat the heat: Take an early morning walk, run or hike (bring sunscreen!). 11 a.m. Enjoy an iced coffee while you pay bills, make appointments or run errands. 10:00 a.m 11:00 a.m 12 p.m. Meet friends for a spontaneous outdoor lunch to catch up and laugh out loud.12:00 p.m 1 p.m. Go for a car ride: Open the windows, and let the wind whip through your hair. And enjoy the view. 1:00 p.m 2 p.m. Shop at the farmers market to stock up on fresh fruits and veggies and socialize. 3 p.m. Treat yourself to fruit-flavored ice cream or gazpacho and people watch. 4 p.m. Take a dip in the pool or run through 2:00 p.m 3:00 p.m the sprinkler with the kids. 5 p.m. Cool off in the AC: Take a 20-minute nap, play a board game or read a good book. 4:00 p.m 6 p.m. Heat up the grill: Cook your favorite protein alongside your fresh fruits and veggies. 7 p.m. Get to know your neighbors: Enjoy a post-dinner bike ride or a walk with your dog. 8 p.m. Gather your friends and family, light up some sparklers, play some tunes and 5:00 p.m 6:00 p.m 7:00 p.m offer a refreshing watermelon salad as dessert (see page 34). 9 p.m. Wind down: Build a fire and make s’mores while you watch the sun set. 8:00 p.m 9:00 p.mDo it all again tomorrow!
