PLANT BIOTECHNOLOGY, AQUICULTURE, BIONANOTECHNOLOGY, BIOMEDICINE, ASTRONOMY, AND BIODIVERSITY are some of the areas in which our academics are contributing to scholarship.
Scientific research is one of the pillars upon which rests the solid prestige Universidad Andrés Bello has cultivated over its 26 years of history. In each of the eight research centers, our academics have played central roles in important scientific and technological advances, bolstering the development of a wide variety of disciplines that range from the study of galaxies, biotechnology, nanoparticle design, the agricultural industry, sustainable development, medicine, and researching new pathologies, to social conflict and education. Today we can proudly announce that we are the first private university to be accredited in research, which has allowed for the creation of “Núcleos Milenios” at UNAB as well as UNAB’s participation in Millennium Institutes and the Research Centers of the national fund FONDAP. Our academics are among those who lead in the rankings of scientific publications on the national level, and the knowledge that they generate is beginning to be converted into solutions, which we hope will impact society through an active innovation process. This generation of knowledge is also essential for the development of human capital, through the nine doctorate programs we offer. From the beginning, Universidad Andrés Bello instills in its students an interest in knowledge, a passion for discovering that which is not evident before our eyes, and the satisfaction of contributing to society through knowledge and technology that can improve the quality of life of all members of our society. In this way, we believe that the university should play an active role in scientific communication at the national level. Through the Center for Scientific Communication we intend to open spaces for civic participation in the discussion of the key issues of our day, encourage young people to be part of the never-ending search for truth that is scientific endeavor, and transform UNAB into an international leader in research. UNAB opens its doors to academia, and it invites us to seek excellence through rigor and the most absolute dedication to research, because we believe that the true scientist is he who knows that the ultimate objective of his job is to contribute to the development of his country, and most importantly, put himself at the service of others.
