Plumes of Passio n Eric Charles Donatien

Reigns as a master plumassier, crafting exquisite garments and accessories adorned with nature's most opulent creations—feathers. With the precision of an artisan and the imagination of a sculptor, he transforms the keratinous plumes of modern-day dinosaurs into ethereal ensembles that drape gracefully on the forms of the fashion world, and brings his sculptural ornaments into galleries.

06 Charles-Donatien's sculptures resonate with the echoes of Nature's wisdom. With each feather, he seeks to uncover the universal beauty that lies beneath. His work is a testament to the belief that beauty is not merely an aesthetic concept but an exploration of the fundamental principles that govern our existence. Central to his artistic narrative is the transformative potential of the material. Through his creations, he offers a compelling vision of how the human species has evolved and progressed by harnessing these materials to shape our social structures. It's an artistic manifesto that reflects the resilience and adaptability embedded in both the artist and humanity.

MAISON KAYWA

It's an ode to progress and innovation, underscored by the conviction that we, as a species, have the capacity to adapt and thrive, driven by the same materials that have shaped our social fabric.

07

In Eric Charles-Donatien's world, there is no single absolute truth. Folded Realities Bounoure and Genevaux Create a labyrinth of Perception,. A primal gesture, a foundational act of creation—the art of folding. Their medium, mirrored aluminum, takes on a new life as they harness the energy of this fold, shaping and redefining reality itself. In their series "Simplicity," the initial outcome of this folding is strikingly physical. The surfaces of their works mimic mirrors, adhering to the laws of symmetry. Here, reflections intertwine, creating a maze of multiple perspectives that lead the viewer into a captivating labyrinth of perception. They explain that the very space around them unfurls and extends, while boundaries between exterior and interior blur. Resulting in a synthesis of profiles that challenges the conventional boundaries of experience.

As the artist Marcel Proust noted, "All experience, whatever its scope, begins with an impulse or rather like an impulse." This impulse is born from necessity, compelling us to action. In this intricate dance between creator and observer, the potentialities of the artwork are activated as we stroll through the gallery. We become a leg, a torso, a fragment of a face, an elbow—disassembled components that seek reassembly. We are a multitude of reflections, a mirage of our own reality. We become the fold itself, embodying the duality of body and soul, visible and invisible, unity and multiplicity. We seek ourselves, approach, and engage in play, evolving as projections and anecdotes. We become a memory of the future.

09

MAISON KAYWA

Bounoure and Genevaux have achieved the remarkable feat of folding reality into new dimensions of perception, reminding us that art, like the act of folding, can reshape the very essence of our existence. In the grand gallery of human experience, their work stands as a testament to the transformative power of art and the uncharted territories of the mind.

10 In the realm of art, there exists a delicate dance between the palpable and the ethereal, where the boundaries of realism and abstraction blur, giving birth to a unique visual language. For Rachel Tooth, this dynamic interplay is not just a technique; it's a philosophy that underpins her artistic journey. In her own words, Rachel is an intrepid explorer, ceaselessly seeking the abstract essence that lies beneath the surface of nature's tapestry. It's a quest where sometimes the abstract asserts itself, and in other instances, nature claims dominion. This dance, this delicate balance, is where her art finds its voice

Bridging

Realism and Abstraction Rachel Tooth

Is the dichotomy between rawness and refinement is a perpetual tug-of-war within Rachel’s creative process. Her canvases are battlegrounds, where spontaneity grapples with precision, giving rise to works that are a testament to the artist’s internal struggle for equilibrium. In Rachel's world, art is not confined to a canvas; it is a living, breathing entity, a testament to the boundless potential of human expression. Through her work, she invites us to embark on a visual odyssey, where the boundaries between reality and abstraction blur, leaving us with a profound sense of awe and wonder.

MAISON KAYWA

The choice of surface is not arbitrary; it is a crucial dialogue between the artist and her chosen medium. Whether canvas, linen, wooden panel, or aluminium, each material guides the treatment, shaping the evolution of the piece. Each canvas becomes a living conversation, a creative discourse that may take unexpected turns, yielding results that surprise and delight.

11

Rachel is a firm believer in allowing her paintings to find their own voice. It's a process of exploration and experimentation, a willingness to relinquish control and let the art speak for itself. Mistakes, far from being errors, become valuable tools in the artist's arsenal, to be wielded with purpose and intention.

In Eva Vila Pou’s work, there lies a profound fascination with the overlooked and undervalued elements of our surroundings—those that often pass unnoticed due to their familiarity or perceived insignificance. Geometric Abstraction Aina Lorente Is a discreet but highly active artist who exemplifies contemporary ideas by flooding her canvases with artistic manifestations of realities and geometric interventions, captivating the viewer and showing them a spiral of abstract life. Geometric abstraction draws from various sources and is rooted in different concepts such as Neoplasticism, Russian Constructivism, and Kazimir Malevich's Suprematism. In this way, artworks emerge with a new nonrepresentational reality. This is what Aina Lorente presents in her new solo exhibition, "Terrestrial Constellations." It's a display where geometric lines, linear structures, abstract schematics, angles, and empty spaces create a sensation of futuristic movement. It's a progressive refinement of reality. Pure physics and chemistry.

Her delicate and intricate porcelains show us how, on a trip to China, Aina was inspired by the Chinese culture. She would go on to call her collection “Forever Young”. Her face cream pots are produced as one piece, showing how the quest for eternal youth is present in all cultures.

Her most recent work Forever-Young a series of porcelain everyday objects propose a return to contemplation and the essentials . The essentials she took with her on her trip to China. Creating Circular Luxury The fashion industry ranks as the secondlargest polluter globally, trailing only the oil industry. Environmental harm is on the rise with the industry's expansion. Nevertheless, viable solutions and alternatives exist to alleviate these issues. The initial crucial step involves fostering awareness and a readiness to embrace change. Luxury goods companies are increasingly prioritizing sustainable practices, integrating them into their core strategies. One noteworthy initiative in this direction is The Circular Luxury Project, introduced by MM-Art Consult. This project stands out because it transforms waste from the luxury industry into artwork, a concept that could be welcomed by many companies.

The Circular Luxury Project involves artists who contribute to the adoption of a circular economic model by using the companies’ waste materials in their creations. This not only aligns with sustainability goals but also helps companies track and fulfill their commitments, such as achieving a net-zero target. As consumer awareness regarding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) matters grows, there is a rising demand for more environmentally friendly luxury products. A strategy that will not only combat "greenwashing" – the misleading promotion of environmentally friendly practices – (both the United Kingdom and the European Union have enacted legislation). But it responds to calls for systematic sustainability solutions in the fashion and luxury industry. To enhance environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting standards, the industry must progressively adopt sustainable strategies.

The luxury industry creates high quality waste and products that are often disposed of because they do not meet the high standards expected by the consumer. It does not come back to the brand. It is tackling the problem by selling off or passing on its high value waste. This is not circular.

MAISON KAYWA

30

By recognizing the inherent worth in what others may discard, we unveil a new dimension of luxury, one that embraces sustainability, innovation, and the boundless potential for creativity. It is a journey towards a more conscientious harmonious future, where even waste finds its place in the tapestry of luxury. This is why the integration of visual artists and digital tools like digital identity and digital product passports into The Circular Luxury Project can enhance transparency for luxury companies. This initiative has the potential to help companies manage waste more efficiently throughout the entire product life cycle. Overall, the adoption of sustainable practices in the luxury industry is not only a response to consumer demand but also a necessary step toward a more responsible and environmentally conscious future. This initiative has the potential to help companies manage waste more efficiently throughout the entire product life cycle. The artists and creators involved in the project wholeheartedly grasp the latent potential within discarded luxury waste. To them, it represents an opportunity to redefine, restructure, and re-envision these remnants into extraordinary works of art. From fragments of sumptuous leathers to abandoned metal hardware, each component retains the hallmark of luxury. In this symbiotic dance between luxury and art, a genuine circularity emerges. It is a testament to the transformative power of artistic vision, turning a problem into an asset.

In summary, this avant-garde venture, orchestrated by MM-Art Consult, artfully repurposes luxury waste into refined artistic expressions. This strategic alignment not only fulfills sustainability imperatives but also meets evolving luxury consumers’ expectations. The collaborative synergy between luxury and art not only transmutes waste into exemplary creations but also signifies a strategic shift towards a conscientious and harmonious future.

A NEW ERA The luxury industry is evolving, and we are at the forefront of that change. By transforming waste into beautiful and high-quality products, we are helping to create a more sustainable and responsible industry. Join us in this journey of transformation, innovation, and creativity where we contemplate the nature of luxury, sustainability, and the transformative power of art. The circular luxury stands as a testament to the notion that true luxury knows no waste, and even in its discarded form, it continues to inspire awe and admiration. In our vision for the future, we aim to redefine prevailing perceptions of waste and luxury, ultimately celebrating a world where sustainable luxury takes centre stage.

Rebeca Riofrio A powerhouse in the creative industry M.M “Your journey in the creative industry began as the “eyes” of Martha Gellhorn, a renowned figure in literature and journalism. How did this experience shape your appreciation for the power of observation and self-expression in your artistic ventures? BY Marianie Morazzani PHOTOGRAPHY BY Kam Murali Date 10th December 2023 In the luminous ambiance of London's prestigious Ritz, adorned with the grandeur of a Christmas tree and the harmonious melodies of carol singers, we sit down for an exclusive interview with the multifaceted Rebeca Riofrio. Known for her diverse roles as a creative force, collaborator with luxury brands, philanthropist, and founder of Art in Fusion, Rebeca offers insights into her remarkable journey. As Rebeca enters the space, her eyes sparkle with infectious energy, and her signature smile lights up the room. "I love this place," she remarks, gesturing to the surroundings that seem to resonate with the dynamic energy of her own creative journey. I agree with her that it is the perfect place to meet at this time of the year. We sit in silence for a moment enjoying the music , I then proceed to start the interview as she nods me on.

Rebeca “I had the privilege of meeting her as a teenager when I had just arrived in London. Despite her advanced age, she graciously took me under her wing and imparted invaluable wisdom spanning politics, international affairs, literature, culture, and opened doors to a world of endless possibilities. For 4 years she became a second mother to me, and her influence has left an indelible mark on everything I do today. Through her, I learned the art of compassionate observation and the love for bearing witness to the world through writing”. M.M “You’ve collaborated with prestigious brands like Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Dolce & Gabbana. How do you ensure that the artistic essence of these collaborations aligns with your personal passion for art while meeting the strategic goals of the brands?" Rebeca “Collaborating with iconic brands like Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Dolce & Gabbana has been a privilege. Regardless of the brand’s stature, I always approach collaborations with a personalised touch. Understanding each brand’s distinct personality,

MAISON KAYWA preferences, and vision is paramount. I’ve had the opportunity to infuse my own creative stamp into these projects, like the unforgettable photo shoot I directed for Lamborghini and Ferrari UK. I transformed a London dealership into an immersive experience, inviting the public to witness the creative process, resulting in the sale of two cars on that memorable afternoon. Years later, Ferrari Escuderia honoured me with an award for innovation, blending fashion and sustainability, bringing our journey full circle.” M.M “The Outstanding Award for your philanthropic work in France is remarkable. How do you incorporate philanthropy into your professional endeavors, and what role do you believe successful individuals should play in giving back to society?” Rebeca “Receiving the Outstanding Award for my philanthropic work in France was a delightful surprise. Philanthropy is ingrained in my nature, and I’ve consistently offered my expertise without expecting anything in return. As a close friend involved in charitable efforts in Cameroon once described, my contributions as an external consultant to their water access project in remote villages grew exponentially and became a resounding success. This connection led to my recognition by the French government at a ceremony, which was a truly humbling experience.” M.M “In the Parliament News Magazine, you cater to a diverse audience, including royals, presidents, and prime ministers. How do you approach content creation for such a varied readership, and what impact do you aim to achieve?”

34 Rebeca “The Parliament News Magazine embodies diversity, covering an array of topics from politics and social issues to arts, travel, and history. This platform serves as an open letter of petition for addressing social concerns within our country. Our approach to content creation is multifaceted, with the goal of engaging and informing our diverse readership. By addressing social aspects with beauty and grace, we aim to shed light on pressing issues while fostering understanding and meaningful discourse.” M.M “ As the founder of Art in Fusion, could you share the inspiration behind creating a platform that merges various artistic forms? How does this platform reflect your personal passion for the arts?” Rebeca “Art has always held a special place in my heart, despite my career taking a different path in higher education, marketing, and business. In 2012, I had the chance to attend the Maison & Objet exhibit in France, where I collected video material and assembled it upon returning to London. The positive reception led to conducting interviews with artists, revealing a wealth of talent. I realised that many artists lacked an understanding of the business side of their craft. This realisation birthed Art in Fusion, a platform that harmoniously blends art and business, allowing artists to shine. M.M “Being a trusted business mentor for young entrepreneurs and emerging celebrities, what advice do you often find yourself giving to those entering the fields of arts, fashion, and media? Rebeca “One of the primary pieces of advice I impart to aspiring artists is the importance of understanding the business aspects of their craft. Monetisation, company formation, taxation, and brand protection are essential elements often overlooked by artists. Ensuring they grasp these aspects helps secure their creative journey and brand identity.”

35

MAISON KAYWA M.M “What can we expect next from Rebeca Riofrio in terms of new projects, collaborations, or initiatives? Rebeca “I wear many hats in various fields, including business, politics, and the arts. Currently, I am working on several exciting ventures, maintaining short-term and longterm goals to stay motivated and focused. In the near future, I am particularly enthusiastic about an upcoming project called Grozeo, an e-marketing platform poised to propel businesses into the new era of technology. Stay tuned as this project unfolds, and I continue my multifaceted journey of creativity and innovation.” As we conclude our conversation, Rebeca Riofrio leaves us with a sense of excitement about what's to come. Amidst the festive atmosphere, we exchange final words. Her promise to keep us posted on the unfolding chapters of her journey adds a personal touch to our parting. Our conversation unfolded over the phone, where Chauvet's voice, soft yet resonant, conveyed both a smile and an unmistakable passion for her craft. Far from being disappointed, I found myself increasingly captivated by her artistic narrative and the purpose imbued in her creations.

Despite her bustling travel schedule, she graciously agreed to a conversation during the late hours of her evening in Mexico, navigating time differences for the sake of our dialogue.

The conversation left me not only satisfied but fueled my curiosity even more, prompting an agreement to continue our dialogue with a set of questions once she had settled back from her travels.

MAISON KAYWA The Red Shoes Project:

Reflecting on the development of her Red Shoes Project, inspired by her experiences in Ciudad Juárez, Chauvet shared the deep connection she feels to the city. Having lived there for 15 years during her university days, she portrayed Ciudad Juárez as a place of harsh realities but also resilience. Her love for the city significantly influenced her profound reaction to the femicides plaguing the region, giving birth to the impactful Red Shoes Project. The Interview: I had the opportunity to pose a series of questions to Elina Chauvet, seeking insights into her artistic inspirations, the significance of her collaboration with Dior, and her perspectives on feminism in the context of her work. Elina's Artistic Melting Pot: When asked about specific influences on her work, Chauvet described her artistic approach as a "melting pot enriched by different artistic movements and artists from different periods." Emphasising the importance of constant experimentation and curiosity for any artist, she offered a glimpse into the eclectic mix that shapes her creative expressions. Navigating Political Themes: Delving into the translation of political themes into visual art, Chauvet highlighted her extensive artistic practice as the foundation for this process. Political themes, she noted, have been a consistent element in her communication, seamlessly addressing issues such as immigration, violence against women, and political corruption. For Chauvet, these themes are inseparable from the broader human experience.

Empowering Communities Through Art: Elina Chauvet believes strongly in the transformative power of art in empowering communities,

MAISON KAYWA Global Reception of her Work: As we delved into the international reception of her work, particularly in diverse cultural contexts, Chauvet emphasised the universal nature of her themes – violence against women. She believes that the core message of her art, advocating for a change of thought towards creating better societies, contributes to its widespread acceptance, transcending cultural boundaries. Future Endeavors: Looking ahead, Elina Chauvet expressed enthusiasm for addressing various topics in her future work, including migration, poverty, war, ecological issues, and more. Despite these potential explorations, her current focus remains steadfast on violence against women, viewing it as the core of all forms of violence.
