Letter From the Director An active and vibrant place to study music, the School of Music at the University of Northern Colorado is building upon a long and proud legacy of achievement. As we move forward, UNC continues to position itself as a leader in training music educators, performers, and scholars for the evolving musical world in which we are fortunate to live and work. Artistic excellence is the norm here; far from stopping with that, however, the School of Music offers the kind of broad-based training that allows UNC students to enter the field with not only something important to offer, but also the tools that will enable their voices to be fully heard. Thank you for taking the time to explore what we have to offer, and we invite you to make your own contribution to our musical community here. Our faculty and alumni are leaders in education, performance and music scholarship all over the world. The potential for growth here at UNC is immense, and our students and faculty are proud to make contributions to the culture of our region and beyond. The modern musical landscape offers tremendous opportunities, and UNC students, faculty, and alumni are engaged and prepared to be leaders in it!

“I love that I’ve never been told what notes to write. Every time I start a new composition, I’m asked where I want to take my concepts. I create a roadmap of what I want to accomplish and the feedback I get is geared to help myself arrive there independently.” – Tyler Dever Composition and Performance Student
