“UNC has so many opportunities! Financially, academically, even job-wise. I’m a member of the Organization for African Students' Interests and Solidarity (OASIS), and Student Health Action Coalition (SHAC). I chose to join OASIS because I wanted to connect with other Carolina students outside of my discipline, and also to get engaged with my culture. I chose SHAC as an outlet to get extra time volunteering at clinics, thereby gaining more experience.” – Sarah Folorunsho ‘17

#UNCAlumni “Carolina has helped me combine my two loves — business and social justice — into a career. The business school helped me refine my analytical skills and really taught me how to break down a problem. My minor in social and economic justice exposed me to the inequities of race, class, and gender throughout our society and showed me ways in which we can begin to combat these issues. These experiences are what ultimately helped me set my eyes on working for the U.S.

#ApplyUNC What kind of students are we seeking
What kind of students are we seeking? When we hear this question, we tend to scratch our heads a little bit because there isn’t a simple answer. The truth is that we don’t have a formula for admission and we don’t keep a picture on our desk of the perfect applicant for admission. It’s true that we like smart, engaged, and compassionate applicants. But not everyone has to be smart, engaged, and compassionate in the same way. We look for reasons to admit students, not to turn them away. If you apply, we promise to read your application with enthusiasm, strive to get to know you as a person, and take into consideration how your unique combination of talents, experiences, and background might make everyone else here better. So, are you ready to be a Tar Heel? We hope so. But the only way you’ll know is if you apply.
