Two hundred and fifty Broad Breasted Bronze turkeys are now roamin’ in the gloamin’ in a palatial pasture at Ayrshire Farm in Upperville. Farm manager Chris Damewood is overseeing their meticulous care and feeding as certified organic and Certified Humane®. They’ll be dressed and ready to go in time for Thanksgiving. “The Toms will be dressed out to 20 pounds and the hens will be 15 pounds,” Damewood said. “They’re the freshest birds on the market.” And, they also will be on the menu to eat in or take home at Hunter’s Head Tavern in downtown Upperville.

This is what is known as a rafter or gang of turkeys.
