THE GOTT LIBRARY

THE GOTT LIBRARY

Many in our area pass through Marshall from time to time, perhaps on the way to Warrenton, when heading south on U.S. Route 17. Just past the one and only stoplight in the town of about 1,500, a handsome circa 1770 bright yellow building, once the Salem Meetting House, is now The Gott Library that is part of The Fauquier Heritage & Preservation Foundation. Friends, volunteers and those seeking answers to research questions can delve into local history, heritage and geneology in the John Kenneth Gott Library. Knotty pine floors shimmer and ladder-back chairs with rush seats offer a pleasant place to settle in and read. The shelves are neatly filled with research files, books, maps and newspapers. The walls are covered with vintage photos and illustrations.
