The Editor's Desk Detroit's black gay scene is like a caterpillar stuck in mid metamorphosis, FOR MORE THAN A DECADE. Although we have the potential to become something much better than we are, we'd rather be stuck inside the chrysalis like it 's the new hotness on the club scene. All that we presently are is a shadow of what once was. You hear people complaining about it all the time. In the end, though, we accept it as the state of the union and keep it pushin'. G -VOLVE is a modern day black panther movement , and the power we are fighting is ourselves and mediocrity. Our lack of cohesiveness has left us stagnant, which is largely due to the lack of an easily accessible community resource to connect us. Providing such a forum is only half of the solution, though. I will do my part, utilizing current technologies to keep things interesting. The balance [and most important part] of this equation is your participation , and sharing this new info with all yo' peeps. Lastly, the references to "Black Panthers" and "fight the power" are not meant to suggest that this publication has some sort of political agenda. We welcome the participation/coordinated efforts of all cultures for the overall advancement of "the gay way." I simply felt black people needed to address the issues preventing us from becoming a better community , so that we may become as function as METRA and other local gay publications in the future.
