SPRING2013

lt eh tet eer d fi rt oo m r okay i admit it, im not a journalist, not a wordsmith, and by the time you read this you will see that although i like punctuation i have a dislike of capital letters hence there are none in sight. This is homespun in the way that its spun from threads of ideas from otherthinking in every situation and finding outlets for those threads, this being one of them. This is an amatuer publication and by that i do mean currently a hobby publication and not to be taken too seriously and it will only be published here for the foreseeable future. as this is the first one im calling it spring 2013 but as a lack of intention led to limited content im going to stretch back to dubs at the park 2011 in a lame attempt to pad with content. < p.s. the image to the left is a homage to the current state of the british weather soon may it lament.

a great day out!

we didn’t know much about this show when we drove up that morning, even driving into the grounds we were unaware of what a great day out this was shaping up to be. okay the weather was kind apart from the occasional random burst of rain which manifested itself in many car and van owner breaking into an impromtu sprint as they headed back to there dub to close that sliding door, window or sunroof. the beauty of this day show was the format, a big field of vans seperated into marques, likewise cars and the visitors were the voters, the fact a friend of mine one a class did not change my view of the show as his award was deserved and yes i did vote for him but mine was one of a thousand plus votes that must have been cast that day. Sadly the show missed 2012 due to this wonderful british flood weather but im sure it willl be back in 2013 and i for one will be queing early to get in, not to be missed. http://www.ltv-vwc.org.uk/events.html

VOLKSWORLD2012

as always a great show, was only able to do a day visit this year with the family but certainly not dissapointed. the displays were impressive to say the least with a fantastic variety on show and layed out well so even with that amount of visitors it was busy but it wasnt crowded.

STONERPARK2012

ao nwe e t never having been to the stoner park show before but not one to pass on an opportunity, we jumped in the camper and headed off, only an hour and a half up the road “great, and a great show it was, good venue and a lots of visitors with a healthy dose of traders, definately one to do again.

BUGJAM2012

very

a wet one

passed on the thursday night camping and opted for a 6am depart on the friday morning, it was raining, i queued up in the rain, drove into the show in the rain and it continued turning the club camping into a quagmire.

Aside from that, great show, great acts, still miss the old beetle racing of the early 90s with the modifed, street legal classes etc which made the actual strip a real highlight. They could do a bit more on the show and shines all day on saturday and sunday but one i still never miss, been going since 90 so why stop now?

not me

little and large

not a whole lot different from last year but we all know the phrase

“if its aint broke don’t fix it”, its not and they didn’t.” highly enjoyable show, nice to catch up with friends, good traders and food available (glad to see the jacket potatos there again). worth the drive plus its over 4 days.

78BAYWINDOW

resto

a new project so the t4 has gone and i have returned to the air-cooled world after a few years since i sold my 72 beetle, a 78 late bay is the weapon of choice.

“why? its was a panel van and has had the windows cut in professionally but this does mean its a twin slider which was the appeal as ive seen this before and wanted it. its solid, there is no welding needed, a little rough around the edges but where would be the fun if it wasn’t unfortunately the engine commited suicide on the way home so has been removed and is in the middle of being stripped and rebuilt and will soon be back in. meanwhile the inside has been stripped and is being sanded back to be resprayed, insulated, soundproofed and a new bed is on order. ive also got a growing pile of parts from new wingmirrors and jailbars to new taillight covers and front badge all waiting to be fitted.
