Freshman Alex Lodise is tied for the league lead in home runs with seven, just three shy of setting the UNF single season freshman home run record.

Austin Brinling's hot start to 2023 has first in the league with seven doubles, good for 47th nationally.

Freshman Phenom

Freshman phenom Alex Lodise has dazzled non-conference foes through the first 18 games of his collegiate career. The Bartram Trail HS product paces the team in runs (22), hits (23), home runs (7), total

bases (50) and is second on the squad in stolen bags with four. The dynamic shortstop scored five times Saturday, becoming the first Osprey to score five times in a single game since Donnie Dewees did so April of 2015.

Run Up the Roundtrippers

UNF has homered 34 times this season, already only 5 shy of the team total from all 55 games played last season.

UNF hit 18 home runs through the first eight games, setting a North Florida record for at least the DI-era.

North Florida has posted eight multihome run games, including two fivehome run games, good for tied for the UNF DI-era record. The Ospreys have had 11 different players homer at least once this season.

Stint in the Sunshine State

UNF is playing its first games outside the Sunshine State this season after playing the first 18 between UNF, Tallahassee, Orlando and Gainesville. UNF has played 15 home games already.

Weekend Streak

UNF has won the first four weekend series of the season, taking two of three from Murray State, Villanova and Fairfield, while sweeping a four-game set with Fordham.

MEDIA INFORMATION

The 2023 University of North Florida baseball game notes are designed to aid members of the media covering Osprey baseball. As for the media, we appreciate your coverage, and if there is anything we can do to assist, please contact the North Florida Strategic Communications Office.

NORTH FLORIDA ATHLETIC COMMUNICATIONS

The North Florida Strategic Communications Office is located on the first floor of UNF Arena in Room 1062. Entering the arena through the front entrance, the office can be accessed by going through the double doors past the main office. Walking down that hallway, go through the next set of double doors and go to the left.

CREDENTIAL REQUESTS

The North Florida Athletic Communications Office will issue credentials to WORKING press only. All passes will be left at the Will Call at the UNF Softball Press Box.

VISITING RADIO

All visiting radio crews MUST request credentials through their school’s sports information director. Please make arrangements well in advance so necessary arrangements can be made.

PHOTOGRAPHERS

Only photographers shooting for accredited media outlets or for North Florida Athletic Communications will be allowed to shoot home events from foul territory inside the field of play. No photographers are permitted in the dugout, bullpen or in any area in the way of teams at play.

POST-GAME INTERVIEWS

Following a 10-minute “cooling off” period, a post-match press conference will take place on the field. The North Florida Athletic Communications staff will poll the media prior to the end of the match to determine which players will be made available after the match. The visiting coach and players will be made available outside their locker room. Pre-game interviews are NOT allowed.

INTERVIEWS

Most practices are open to the media and public. However, there may be instances when all or parts of practice are closed. Daily practices typically run 2-4:45 p.m. at Harmon Stadium, but practice times are subject to change. Contact the Athletic Communications Office for practice times and to set up any interviews with North Florida players and coaches.

PARKING

Limited parking for the media is located in the parking lot directly behind UNF Arena. Access to the lot is gained by turning beside UNF Arena on the south end access road.

2023 NORTH FLORIDA BASEBALL || SCHEDULE SEASON NOTES

Last Time Out

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Righty Clayton Boroski held the nation's leader in home runs without a baserunner for four innings, but the No. 5/4 Gators were able to get some timely hits down the stretch as UNF's early lead wasn't enough in a 7-2 loss at Florida (16-3) Tuesday, March 14.

UNF Roots

Blake Pound has homered twice this season, both of which came against Fairfield this past weekend. He joins his father, Joe, as the only father-son duo in UNF history to have homered at UNF. Joe was a UNF a member of the UNF baseball team in the 90s.

Austin Brinling attended the University of Florida out of high school, but his UNF connection ran deep before that. Austin's uncle, Tim, is a UNF alum and received a resolution from the UNF senate wishing Austin a happy, healthy and successful life when Austin was born in 2000.

Newcomer Contributions

13 different Ospreys made their UNF debuts, with nine making their first-career starts this season.

First Game Magic

Eric Fouraker came in as defensive substitution Feb. 22 against USC Upstate and proceeded to single in his first at-bat. He went on to launch a two-run home run to left field in his next trip up, making him the second Osprey in five games to homer in their UNF debut, joining Alex Lodise.

At a Glance

UNF's roster features 35 active players,with 18 newcomers. North Florida brings back four starters and 16 that have already earned letters. UNF's coaching staff looks a little different this year as well. Brady Bogart joins in his first season on the staff, serving as an assistant and as the primary pitching coach.

Kyle Brooks returns for his fifth season overall and 2nd in an assistant role.

Preseason Selection

Junior infielder Aidan Sweatt was named to the ASUN Baseball Preseason All-Conference squad. Sweatt is UNF's first preseason-conference pick since future MLB Draft picks Brad Deppermann and Tanner Murphy were selected in 2019.

Sweatt is the first UNF infielder to be tabbed to the preseason team since Alex Merritt was picked back in 2017. He is one of five infielders honored this season in the 14-team league.

The junior is coming off a 2022 campaign that saw him earn Second Team All-ASUN honors. The middle infielder hit .329 with 70 hits, 32 runs, eight doubles, three home runs, 38 RBI and had eight stolen bags.

As a freshman, Sweatt started all but one game, earning unanimous all-freshman honors after hitting .282 with 28 runs and 14 doubles. He is just one game shy of 100 games played for his career and two games started away from 100.

Veteran Lefties

UNF returns two veteran lefties that are projected to earn significant innings as starters this season.

Southpaw Peter Holden found a groove after being inserted into the weekend rotation last April. Holden finished the season with Second Team All-ASUN honors, working his way into the Friday night slot with solid outing after solid outing. He finished the season 4-3 with a 3.41 ERA, one complete game and 68.1 innings worked. He would also be named to the ASUN All-Academic Team.

Local lefty Tony Roca returns with144 innings worked and 126 strikeouts in his fourth season in the Navy and Gray.

Home Grown

As has become the theme for UNF baseball, North Florida's active-35 man roster features 33 players from the Sunshine State. A number of them come from the 904 area or nearby counties. High schools such as Bishop Kenny, Clay, Bartram Trail, Creekside, Paxon, Fletcher, Ponte Vedra and more are featured on the UNF roster.

Sophomore 'Spreys

A number of freshmen during the 2022 season are now primed for their sophomore seasons after contributing significant time last year. Tyler Gerteisen and Drew Leinenbach saw ample time last year, while relievers Clayton Boroski and Scott Griesemer earned valuable experience during their freshman seasons.

Hold It Down Halstead

Righty reliever Stephen Halstead is back for his senior season. The Pensacola, Fla., native was named to the 2022 NCBWA Stopper of the Year Preseason Watch List. He is one of the most effective bullpen arms in the league, turning in a 3.07 ERA, .245 opponents' batting average and 60 strikeouts across 40 appearances.

Tim Parenton was named the UNF head baseball coach in June of 2017 and since then UNF has seen five MLB draftees and seven ASUN First Team AllConference honorees. UNF has had two ASUN Scholar-Athletes of the Year, a Senior Class Award finalist, one ASUN Player of the Year and one ASUN Pitcher of the Year honoree.

2022 Parenton eclipsed the 100win milestone at UNF with a doubleheader sweep of a tough FGCU team April 16, highlighting his 2022 campaign at the helm of North Florida baseball. Parenton and the UNF staff helped produce six All-ASUN awards, include a first team selection and two allacademic picks.

Isaiah Byars paced UNF's allconference selections as the lone shortstop chosen to the team, while Aidan Sweatt, Abraham Sequera and Peter Holden all landed on the second team. Holden and Brock Edge also brought home allacademic recognition, marking the first time UNF had multiple Academic All-ASUN honorees in the same season since 2015 as the team turned in a 3.21 GPA for the

Edge also landed on the College Sports Information Directors (CoSIDA) Academic All-District

4 First Team, marking the first time UNF has had an honoree on that squad in consecutive seasons since 1992 and 1993.

Edge followed up Alex Kachler's CoSIDA Academic All-America honors from 2021.

2021

Coach Parenton’s fourth season as head coach at North Florida was one of the most challenging and unique seasons in college sports history as teams balanced the changes brought on by COVID-19 along with the everyday demands required to succeed. North Florida finished 22-23 and 11-7 in the ASUN, finishing just one game back of first place in the ASUN South Division. The Ospreys finished ahead of Stetson and Jacksonville, going 7-2 against the Hatters and 5-2 against the Dolphins on the season.UNF eliminated Stetson from the ASUN Championship by taking the first two games of a best-of-three game series in the ASUN Divisional Round. In the ASUN Championship Final Four, UNF knocked out Kennesaw State before coming up one win shy of the ASUN Championship game.Parenton’s team picked up two top-25 wins, both coming on the road. UNF opened the year with a 7-4 win against No. 24/21 Florida State before beating No. 21 Georgia, 7-4, just weeks later.Coming up big in both of those wins and throughout the whole season was Division III graduate transfer Alex Kachler, who went on to become the first student-athlete in ASUN Baseball history to be named ASUN Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the same season. He also was one of 10 studentathletes in NCAA DI Baseball to be named a finalist for the Senior Class Award. Joining Kachler

on the all-conference team was freshman Aidan Sweatt who was a unanimous pick to the ASUN AllFreshmen team after producing one of the most consistent years on record for a UNF freshman. Sweatt helped lead a defense that finished first in the ASUN in double plays turned (46) and fourth in the nation in double plays spun per game (1.02). In the outfield, Blake Marabell dazzled with three home run robs on the season as he appeared on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays on multiple occasions. On the hill, righty Brandon Reitz paced the ASUN with 10 saves, finishing tied for first in UNF DI history for the most saves in a season. Joining him in a solid bullpen was Eddie Miller and Stephen Halstead who turned in sub-2.50 ERAs across 40-combined appearances.

2020

The 2020 season concluded in mid-March due to the COVID-19 developments, but the Ospreys had a slew of strong teams slated for Parenton's third season leading the Ospreys. UNF was set to host 36 games at Harmon Stadium and play 15 games against teams in the 2019 NCAA Championship. UNF did play six of those games after hosting Central Michigan and Ohio State. The Ospreys would host VMI, Rutgers, Hartford,

CMU and OSU in addition to playing a road contest at South Carolina Feb. 25. North Florida opened up the season with a 5-4 walk-off victory against VMI Feb. 14, making UNF 2-1 in season openers under Parenton. Parenton put forth a squad that saw the UNF debut of 14 players, 10 of which were newcomers. UNF concluded the shortened season with a 9-5 defeat of visiting Ohio State March 11. The Ospreys received a three-run home run from catcher Tanner Clark and a 3.2-inning save from redshirt-senior Eddie Miller in the win.

2019

Parenton's second season saw the Ospreys achieve notable individual and team numbers and honors. For the first time in UNF's ASUN affiliation the Ospreys received superlative pitching and academic all-conference honors. Redshirt-senior Brad Deppermann was singled out as the ASUN Pitcher of the Year, while junior center fielder Tanner Murphy was tabbed as the ASUN ScholarAthlete of the Year. Deppermann and Murphy weren't the only first team honorees representing the Ospreys, as senior second baseman Jay Prather had a breakout year to help him land on the first team. Senior righty Nick Marchese went 7-0 and junior designated hitter was fourth in the league in hitting as they landed on the ASUN Second Team. Parenton guided UNF to a 23-11 record at home and a 3-1 mark against SEC opponents. UNF opened the year by hosting Missouri, taking twoof-three games. The Tigers would go on to finish 34-22-1, proving to be a stingy SEC opponent after taking two of three against No. 20 Ole Miss, Kentucky and No. 8 LSU. Missouri would also sweep South Carolina in late April. The Ospreys kept the foot on the gas following the season-opening weekend, downing No. 3/5 Florida February 20, 7-1. It was the second-highest ranked opponent that the Ospreys defeated in its DI days after doubling-up No. 1 UF, 10-5, in 2012 when Parenton was an assistant coach at North Florida. UNF earned wins in both games against 2019 Conference USA Champion, FAU. The Ospreys defeated the Owls on back-to-back days, 7-5 and 9-8. North Florida would finish the

season as the number-five seed in the conference, going 16-8 against in-state opponents.

2018

In his first season with the Ospreys, Parenton led the Ospreys to a 2828 record as UNF made it all the way to the ASUN Finals before falling to top seed Stetson. North Florida had three players make the first team all-conference (Tanner Murphy, Blake Voyles and Frank German). UNF defended it home turf with it's fourth straight 20 win season at Harmon Stadium. Parenton also had three pitchers of the week (German x2 and Brad Deppermann) while Chris Berry earned hitter of the week honors as well. The Ospreys did make some history during Parenton's first year as they swept FGCU in Fort Myers for the first time in school history in a series that dates back to 2008.

In Minor League Ball

Parenton, who served as an assistant coach at North Florida from 2010-13, returned to the Ospreys following a three-year stint as the manager of the Hudson Valley Renegades, the Short Season-A team affiliate in the New York Penn League for the Tampa Bay Rays. As the manager for the Renegades, Parenton guided the squad to a pair of Division titles in 2014 and 2016, while finishing runner-up in the Penn League last summer. In addition, he also coordinated the Rays’ extended spring training program in Port Charlotte, Fla.

First Stint at UNF

During his first stint at UNF, Parenton helped recruit and develop several standout performers including Alex Bacon, Shane Kennedy and Tyler Moore, who all garnered Freshman AllAmerican honors and ASUN AllFreshman accolades. Bacon also earned the ASUN Freshman of the Year award. The Ospreys also enjoyed other milestones with Parenton on staff including a 10-5 victory over No. 1-ranked Florida in 2012 and a No. 23 ranking in the College Baseball Daily Mid-Major Top 25 poll. Prior to his first stint with the Ospreys, Parenton spent three seasons as the head coach Jesuit High School in New Orleans (2007-09), his prep alma mater. He guided the

Blue Jays to three consecutive state tournament appearances and a pair of American Legion playoff runs. His coaching ledger with Jesuit featured a runner-up and two quarterfinal finishes in the state tournament while also collecting an American Legion state championship.

At the University of Florida Parenton took the break from college baseball following a threeyear tenure as an assistant coach at the University of Florida from 2004-2006. During his time at UF, the Gators claimed the 2005 SEC title and also advanced to the College World Series, finishing second in the nation. As the club’s hitting coach, he oversaw an offense that finished among the program’s top all-time leaders in total bases, hits, runs, RBIs, walks and home runs. Florida made two NCAA Regional and Super Regional appearances during his time in Gainesville.

Head Coach - Samford University

As the head coach at Samford University from 1998-2003, Parenton was named the 2004 OVC Coach of the Year and also led the Bulldogs to conference tournament appearances in both the OVC (2004) and ASUN (2002). He oversaw a $1,000,000 renovation project at Samford for the baseball stadium and had over a 90 percent graduation rate with 51 academic all-conference honorees during his seven-year tenure.

Sun Belt, Colonial and SEC

Before taking over his own program, Parenton also worked two successful seasons at Mississippi State (1996-97), helping lead MSU to a pair of NCAA Regional berths along with a trip to the 1997 College World Series. He began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at Old Dominon (199095), where he was part of a 18897 record in five seasons. ODU snared a back-to-back Colonial Athletic Conference crowns in 1994 and 1995 while advancing to NCAA Regional play. He was also part of an ODU runner-up finish in the Sun Belt Conference (1991).

Personal and Playing Experience

Along with his extensive coaching career, Parenton was a two-sport letterwinner in football and baseball at Mississippi State University. He helped the Bulldogs to the 1980 Sun Bowl and 1981 Hall of Fame Bowl as a quarterback while earning a pair of NCAA Regional baseball appearances as an infielder on the diamond. Parenton later spent three years at MSU serving as a graduate assistant football coach and two seasons as assistant director for athletic facilities and game management.

A native of New Orleans, Parenton starred at Jesuit High School, where he earned 11 letters in baseball, basketball, football and track. He was chosen the school’s Athlete of the Decade for the 1970s.

Parenton earned his bachelor's degree from Mississippi State in 1989 and is married to the former Sheila Cummins of Kosciusko, Miss.

First Season

North Florida baseball welcomed assistant coach Brady Bogart to its coaching staff in October of 2022. Bogart specifically serves as the pitching coach with the staff in this role.

Bogart, a familiar name for those that know collegiate baseball in Florida, has more than 30 years of experience working in the high school, collegiate and professional ranks of baseball.

His son, Austin Bogart, was a three-year letterwinner with the Stetson Hatters as a two-way player. He would join North Florida as a graduate transfer during the 2021 season, posting some impressive numbers on the mound, at the dish and in the field as UNF’s everyday outfielder and weekend starter.

Bogart’s varied experience in the baseball world has seen him primarily work in the Sunshine State, while also sending him around the country to coach or play in independent and summer leagues.

The single-season ERA record holder at Saint Leo University, Bogart spent five years working with the Amarillo Dillas as the pitching coach and field manager. In 2008 he was a part of the 2008 United League Baseball (ULB) All-Star Game Coaching Staff. That same year he was named ULB Manager of the Year, an award he earned during the midst of a three-peat as league champions.

The Saint Leo legend also spent time on the coaching staff of the Sunshine State powerhouse. During multiple stints as the pitching coach for the Lions, Saint Leo tallied a 179-95 record, while also reaching the 1996 Division II South Regional Tournament and setting multiple team single-season highwater marks including consecutive wins (20), shutouts (eight) and strikeouts (467).

In addition to his professional and collegiate history, Bogart has produced a dominant 16-year tenure between time as the head coach at the Villages Charter High School and at Citrus High School. During those two stints, Bogart’s teams went 252-157, making two final four appearances, five regional finals while winning two regionals and five district titles. Mixed in during that time, Bogart has also accrued 12 years of travel ball coaching experience with Gatorball Baseball Academy.

Bogart played two years of junior college ball with Central Florida Community College before making his mark in two seasons at Saint Leo. He then played three seasons between time with the Sioux Falls Canaries, Mobile Bay Sharks and Abilene Prairie Dogs of the Northern League and Texas-Louisiana League respectively.

Brady Bogart has been married to his wife, Barbie, for 28 years. Together the couple has four children, all of which have competed or are currently participating in college sports. His son, Cody, graduate from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2018 and is a catcher. Their son, Garrett, is also a catcher at ERAU in Daytona Beach, Fla.

As mentioned early, Austin graduate from Stetson in only three years and earned his graduate degree at UNF while competing as a two-way player and starter for the Ospreys in 2021.

After a standout four-year career as a shortstop at UNF, Kyle Brooks returned to the Ospreys after rejoining as a volunteer assistant coach in September of 2018. He was elevated to assistant coach in January of 2022.

The Alachua, Fla., native accumulated countless conference and program accolades while in Jacksonville, finishing atop the career charts in a myriad of statistical categories.

1989 College World Series

UNF made its first appearance in the 1989 NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho, and picked up a 6-5 win against Dallas Baptist in the opening contest. Ranked No. 2 in NAIA, the Ospreys went up for good in the top of the eighth when Ed Bloom knocked in the gamewinning run with a sacrifice fly. Phil Black picked up the win after striking out nine, while Danny Clark shut the door with the save.

After dropping a 6-4 decision to Oklahoma Baptist, UNF took down in-state foe West Florida, 8-6. Clark notched the victory after not allowing an earned run and giving up just five hits. Bloom tallied two RBI and a double, while Black recorded the save. UNF picked up the program’s 100th victory when it defeated WisconsinStout in the next game, 7-5. Kenny Layfield had two RBIs while Black picked up the complete game win after striking out seven.

They ended their season with a loss to the eventual NAIA national champion, Lewis-Clark State College, finishing third in the nation with a final record of 53-18.

ALL-AMERICANS

Kenny Layfield – 1988

Third Base – Hit .352 (68-for-193) with a slugging percentage of .523, six home runs, 11 doubles and 50 RBI while starting 64 games. He was 15-for-16 in stolen base attempts and struck out just 19 times all season while walking 55 times. He was the team’s only All-America honoree in UNF’s first season of competition.

Eddie Bloom – 1989

Outfield – Hit .329 (69-for-210) with 12 home runs, 57 RBI and 53 runs scored while starting 69 games for the Ospreys. He was 11-for-14 in stolen bases and had nine outfield assists. Bloom also had a 2.70 earned run average in three games, helping lead UNF to the NAIA College World Series in the program’s second season of competition.

Todd Bryant – 1989

Outfield – Hit .357 (90-for-252) with four home runs, 19 doubles, 67 RBI and 60 runs scored while starting 71 games, helping lead UNF to the NAIA College World Series in the program’s second season of competition. Bryant was also 15-for-21 in stolen base attempts.

Bob Kappesser – 1989

Catcher – Batted .350 (76-for-217) with 59 RBI, two home runs, 14 doubles and six triples in 70 games. Kappesser struck out just 21 times all season and stole 12 bases in 15 attempts. He also had a .988 fielding percentage in helping lead UNF to the NAIA College World Series in the program’s second season of competition.

Darryl Kennedy – 1991

Catcher – Batted .378 (93-for-246) with five home runs and 52 RBI in 70 games. He also collected 12 doubles and six triples while striking out just 19 times. He was named to the NAIA College World Series All-Tournament team as the Ospreys made their second trip in three years to the NAIA College World Series.

Sid Roberson – 1991, 1992

Pitcher – Recorded a 15-1 record with a 2.16 earned run average, including 172 strikeouts in 125 innings pitched for the Ospreys in 1991 when he was named to the NAIA College World Series All-Tournament team and as the NAIA Player of the Year. In 1992, he was 11-4 with a 1.50 earned run average and 128 strikeouts in 120.1 innings.

Sid Roberson – 1991, 1992

Pitcher – Recorded a 15-1 record with a 2.16 earned run average, including 172 strikeouts in 125 innings pitched for the Ospreys in 1991 when he was named to the NAIA College World Series All-Tournament team and as the NAIA Player of the Year. In 1992, he was 11-4 with a 1.50 earned run average and 128 strikeouts in 120.1 innings.

Todd Dunn – 1993

Outfield – Batted .352 (63-for-179) with 19 home runs and 60 RBI in 56 games. He also tallied nine doubles and four triples and was 13-of-16 on stolen base attempts. Dunn’s 19 home runs and slugging percentage of .765 are still UNF single season records. He was also named District 7 Player of the Year.

Kevin Ohme – 1993

Pitcher – Recorded a 13-1 record and 1.61 earned run average in 17 games for the Ospreys. He struck out 105 batters in 100.1 innings pitched and allowed only 11 extra-base hits all season. His 13 wins led the nation that season.

Joby Birr – 1995

Infield – Batted .353 (72-for-204) with seven home runs and 41 RBI. He also had 12 doubles, three triples and collected 111 total bases while stealing 25 bases in 28 attempts. Birr played in 51 games his final season and in 200 games in his career. He became the first NCAA Division II All-American for the Ospreys.

Jay Nunley – 1997

Outfield – Batted .383 (92-for-240) with 16 home runs and 72 RBI. With 17 doubles added in, he compiled a slugging percentage of .663 and had a .980 fielding percentage. He had 159 total bases in 54 games.

Everett – 1997

Pitcher – Recorded an 11-3 record with a 4.38 earned run average for the Ospreys in 96.2 innings pitched. Tallied 69 strikeouts in 16 games, 14 of which were starts.

Matt Incinelli – 2000, 2001

Pitcher – Earned the honor in back-to-back years after recording a 12-1 record in both 2000 and 2001. In 2000, he posted a 4.12 earned run average in 19 appearances with two complete games. In 2001, he had a 3.19 earned run average in 21 appearances with eight complete games. UNF advanced to the College World Series both seasons.

Kyle Catrett – 2000

Outfield – Batted .366 (90-for-246) with 26 doubles, four home runs and 44 RBI. He stole 33 bases in 41 attempts that year as well and had 128 total bases in 62 games. Led UNF to the first NCAA Division II College World Series in school history.

Jerrod Payne – 2000

Pitcher – Posted a 4-1 record with a 1.65 earned run average and 14 saves in 30 appearances. Pitched 54.2 innings during the year, all in relief, and tallied 54 strikeouts with only 10 walks. Led UNF to the first NCAA Division II College World Series in school history.

Kevin Kay – 2000

Catcher – Batted .342 (76-for-222) with 20 doubles, five home runs and 83 RBI. Totaled 26 extra-bases hits and 113 total bases for the Ospreys, also stealing 29 bases in 35 attempts. He earned All-Tournament honors at the NCAA Division II College World Series, helping lead UNF to its first appearance at the event.

Tod Ewasko – 2001

Pitcher – Posted a 14-3 record and 2.78 earned run average as a junior in leading UNF to its second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division II College World Series. He had two shutouts and 12 complete games while striking out a careerhigh 108 batters in 142.1 innings. He also made five relief appearances and collected one save.

Justin Cerrato – 2003

Pitcher – Posted a 5-1 record with 10 saves and a team-leading 1.84 earned run average in 25 appearances as the team’s closer. Pitched 44 innings, recording 32 strikeouts while allowing just four extra-base hits. Opponents batted just .182 against him.

Jeff Millsaps – 2003

Outfield – Batted .401 (91-for-227), becoming the first player in UNF history to eclipse the .400 mark in a single season. Playing in 56 games with 19 doubles, three triples, five home runs and 47 RBI. He also led the team in slugging percentage (.577), stolen bases (19) and runs (60).

Travis Stanton – 2004

Pitcher – Posted a 12-2 record with a 2.38 earned run average in 20 appearances (16 starts). He recorded 116 strikeouts in 128.1 innings and allowed just 24 walks with two shutouts and six complete games. He was also named Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year and South Atlantic Region Player of the Year.

Sadry Cafe – 2005

Outfield – Batted .371 (93-for-251) with 15 home runs and 54 RBI in leading UNF to the NCAA Division II national championship game in the program’s final season as a Division II school. He also collected 18 doubles and two triples for a .637 slugging percentage in 64 games. He was the last All-American in the program’s Division II era.

TJ Thompson – 2007

Infield/Outfield – Hit. .326 (43-for-142) with 10 doubles, 23 RBI and 20 runs scored in being named to the Collegiate Baseball/Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team. He was also named to the All-Atlantic Sun Conference First Team and the A-Sun All-Freshman Team. He was the first UNF student-athlete to garner AllAmerica honors in the Division I era.

Alex Bacon – 2011

Outfield – Named both Louisville Slugger and NCBWA Freshman All-American. He batted .352 (70-for-199) with 46 runs, 18 doubles, nine home runs and 42 RBI. He led the team in runs, doubles, hit by pitch, sacrifice flies and outfield assists; second in average, slugging percentage, on base percentage, hits, RBI, homers and bases. He led team with 22 multi-hit games and 12 multiple RBI games.

Shane Kennedy – 2011

Second Base – Hit .324 (48-for-148) with 37 runs, 10 doubles, three triples, two homers and 24 RBI in being named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American. He led the team in triples and sacrifice bunts, ranking in the UNF top five on the season in average, slugging percentage, on base percentage, runs, hits, doubles, total bases, stolen bases, at bats, chances, assists and fielding double plays.

Tyler Moore – 2011

Pitcher – Had a 4-3 record with a 3.92 ERA en route to earning Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American honors. He made 16 appearances with a complete game shutout. He led the team in ERA and opposing batting average; second in win-loss percentage and wins; third in innings and strikeouts; fourth in appearances, games started and games in relief; and fifth in strikeouts looking.

Kyle Brooks – 2013

Shortstop – Named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American after appearing in 55 games as a true freshman. He batted .307 with seven doubles, two triples and two home runs. In conference play he upped his average to .341 and recorded 13 multiple-hit games. He led the team with 186 assists, the fourth most ever in a single season in program history.

Donnie Dewees – 2013

Outfield – Was recognized as a Louisville Slugger and National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America Freshman All-American. He garnered Second Team All-Atlantic Sun honors and was a unanimous selection to the A-SUN AllFreshman Team. He batted a team-best .347 and posted a .405 average in league play. Hit safely in 45 of the 56 games played.

Corbin Olmstead – 2013

Pitcher/Infield – Earned Freshman All-America honors from Louisville Slugger, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America and Perfect Game. Was a twoway player for the Ospreys and served as the team’s closer. He recorded a teambest six saves and posted a record of 4-1 on the season. At the plate he batted .307 with four doubles, three triples and 19 RBI’s.

Drew Weeks – 2014

Outfield – The junior right-fielder garnered First Team All-America honors from the NCBWA and Second Team honors from Baseball America, Rawlings ABCA and Perfect Game. He played in all 53 games and led the country with a single season school record, .430 batting average. He was a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award and Gregg Olson Award. He set a new program mark with 95 hits and was a First Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference selection. Defensively he led the nation with 11 outfield assists and was ranked in the top 25 in slugging percentage (.478) and total bases (134).

Donnie Dewees – 2015

Outfield – A unanimous All-American and First Team All-Region honoree as a redshirt sophomore. He was named the 2015 Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year and put together one of the best seasons in all of college baseball. He batted .422 and led the nation in hits (104), runs (88), slugging percentage (.749) and total bases (188). Finished fifth in the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award voting and was a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy. Was later drafted in the 2nd round by the Chicago Cubs in the second round.

Corbin Olmstead – 2015

UTL – A unanimous All-American and a First Team ABCA All-Region selections. He became the first player in Atlantic Sun Conference history to garner First Team All-Conference honors at two different positions (RHP & DH). On the mound, tied for the league lead in saves and allowed only one earned run in 35.1 innings pitched. He didn’t surrender an earned run in his first 27.1 innings pitched. He belted 13 home runs, second most in the A-Sun to teammate Donnie Dewees. He batted .308 with 13 HRs and 42 RBIs at the plate

Corbin Olmstead – 2016

UTL – Coupled with ABCA First Team All-Region honors, he was listed on the organization’s All-America Third Team. He capped his historic career with careerhighs in hits (83) runs and RBIs (59) in 2016. The two-way player played in all but one game and batted a career-high .359. He ranked in the top three in the ASUN in hits, home runs (12) and RBIs. He garnered ASUNConference honors at two positions (DH & RP) for the second-straight season, the only player in league history to do so. He was a semifinalist for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award and also listed on the watch lists for both the Golden Spikes Award and the NCBWA Stopper of the Year.

Austin Drury – 2018

LHP – Drury earned ASUN All-Freshman and Freshman All-American laurels with the Ospreys, concluding his time in Jacksonville tied for second in UNF Division I history with 16 wins. The Land O’Lakes, Fla., native fanned 58 in 2018, going 4-4 as North Florida finished up its year as the ASUN Tournament runner-up.

Frank German – 2018

RHP – North Florida junior standout Frank German was recognized by a trio of organizations for his performance on the mound in 2018, picking up a pair of AllAmerican accolades from D1Baseball (2nd team) and Perfect Game/Rawlings (3rd team) as well as being named an American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-South Region (2nd team) selection.

Selected last week by the New York Yankees in the fourth round (127th overall) of the 2018 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft, German adds the AllAmerican and All-Region monikers to his name to go along with him being named a semifinalist for the prestigious Golden Spikes Award. A native of Tampa, German’s season highlights featured his selection as a first-team All-ASUN honoree and also included him earning ASUN All-Tournament recognition following his final start in the Osprey’s tournament opener that saw German strikeout 10 and surrender just one run in a complete game effort. He becomes the first Osprey to garner postseason All-American honors since Corbin Olmstead in 2016.

Alex Kachler - 2021

RHP – Alex Kachler's excellence on and off the field is still being recognized as the graduate student was named a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) First Team Academic All-American as announced by the national organization Thursday, July 29. It's the first time an Osprey has been named a CoSIDA First Team All-American since UNF Hall of Famer Preston Hale was tabbed back in 2010. It's the sixth time a UNF baseball player has been named a CoSIDA First Team All-American in the history of the program, and just the second time in the Division I era at North Florida. Kachler is one of four infielders on the first team, and just one of two student-athletes on the first team to tout a perfect 4.00 GPA at the undergraduate and graduate level. Kachler possesses a perfect 4.00 GPA in his master's of science in management degree. He holds the unique distinction of becoming the first baseball student-athlete in ASUN history to be named the ASUN Player of the Year and ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the same season.
