>> Ospreys will be coming off their first win in six games on senior day against Kennesaw State.

>> Jaelyn Swann made seven three-pointers, including six in the first half, in the win against the Owls.

>> Also set a season-high scoring mark with 23 points to go along with her eight rebounds.

>> Lyric Swann joined her sister with 10 points and 11 rebounds for her first double-double as an Osprey.

>> Brianna Livingston has been a scoring machine as of late with a career-high 18 points against Jacksonville State, then surpassing that mark two days later against KSU with 19 points.

>> Emma Broermann is only 21 rebounds away from hitting a career milestone of 500 rebounds at UNF.

>> Kaila Rougier has been a crucial piece in ASUN play, now averaging 10.7 PPG, 5.7 RPG and 3.8 APG.

>> UNF put up the most points in a half this season against the Owls with 56 points, as well as most points in the first and second quarters with 29 and 27 respectively.

>> Only sits one game behind JU for the 10th and final seed in conference postseason play.

>> Will only play UNA this weekend after Central Arkansas canceled the remainder of their season due to lack of eligible players available.

AN OSPREY WIN ON SATURDAY WOULD...

- Give UNF back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

- Be first win on the road since their ASUN road opener at Queens.

- Extend recent advantage with five wins in their past six games played against the Lions.

- Put them in contention for the last ASUN Championship tournament spot going into Wednesday's regular season finale.

The Ospreys will prepare for their regular season finale and make their final push for the postseason in a midweek matchup against Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday, Mar. 1, at 7 p.m., in UNF Arena.

LAST TIME VS. NORTH ALABAMA

FLORENCE, Ala. - Despite UNF women's basketball's clinical performance in the paint, it was North Alabama's 11 three-pointers that set the Lions apart from the Ospreys (10-12, 3-7 ASUN) as North Florida dropped a 70-65 decision to UNA (9-12, 4-5 ASUN) Saturday, Feb. 5.

SCOUTING REPORT

>> North Alabama has cumulated a record of 12-14 overall and 7-8 in conference play.

>> Sports an 8-5 record at home with four of those wins against ASUN opponents.

>> Played three Power Five teams this season with matchups against Miss State, Ohio State and Pittsburgh.

>> Only lost to Pitt by two points late in December.

>> Riding a three-game winning streak with victories against Bellarmine, Central Arkansas and Jacksonville.

>> Last loss at home was to Liberty on Saturday, Feb. 11.

>> Three players for the Lions are averaging 10+ PPG on the season.

>> Skyler Gill has been the best all-around player for UNA with 10.7 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 1.9 SPG and 2.7 BPG.

>> Gill is also the only player on their team this year to start in all 26 games this season.

>> Hina Suzuki is also a player to watch out for with 10.5 PPG and 5.3 APG.

>> Jade Moore is the third player to average over 10 PPG, as she has 74 total 3PT made on 40.4% shooting from beyond the arc.

The Ospreys will man an 10-player roster throughout the 2022-23 season, which is the lowest it has been under head coach Darrick Gibbs.

NEWBIES

The Ospreys have plenty of new faces to go around with six transfers and three freshmen bringing their talents to Jacksonville, Fla.

Elysa Wesolek (South Carolina), Brianna Livingston (Monmouth), Selma Eklund (UNC-Wilmington) come directly from D-I programs, while Lyric Swann (CCBC Essex) and Jaelyn Swann (CCBC Essex) are additions from NJCCA institutions. The Swann sisters do have experience playing at the D-I level, as they previously played for UMBC before transferring to CCBC Essex.

UNF brings in three freshmen after only have one on the roster this past season (Kaila Rougier). Maddie Millar, the only in-state product on the team, and Sarah Taub are guards with stellar shooting abilities. Helena Rafnsdottir also joins as a freshman after playing for her club team in Iceland since she was five years old, as well as the Icelandic Women's National Team.

Assistant coach Myron Brown and director of operations Adrienne Jackson are also welcomed as a newcomers to the squad. Brown joins the Ospreys' coaching staff after being the head women's basketball coach for Thomas University since 2017. Jackson returns to UNF after playing under Darrick Gibbs from 2016-2020.

TWIN TIES

Lyric and Jaelyn Swann both transfer in from CCBC Essex in Maryland to join the Osprey roster. They are one of 15 sets of twins playing for the same Division I women's basketball team this season.

This is also the second consecutive year that UNF will sport a set of sisters on the squad, as Jazz and Jaida Bond both played for the Ospreys this past year.

INTERNATIONAL FACES

Helena Rafnsdottir (Iceland), Selma Eklund (Sweden) and Brianna Livingston (Canada) all join the Ospreys this season representing three different countries. Rafnsdottir and Eklund both have experience playing for the national teams of their respective countries.

It's the third straight season rostering three or more international players, while it also being the first time since 2014-15 that three or more players come from unique countries outside the United States.

INTERNATIONAL PLACES

UNF will make the trip out the Dublin, Ireland, to compete in the MAAC-ASUN Dublin Challenge, joining Eastern Kentucky as the fellow ASUN member playing against MAAC foes.

They are scheduled to compete against Rider on Friday, Nov. 18, at 2:30 p.m. EST, followed by a matchup against Marist the next day on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 9:30 a.m. EST.

SUNSHINE STATE

UNF plays 17 of their 29 games this season inside the state of Florida, including 13 of the 17 matchups played at UNF Arena.

It will also be the first time since the 2014-2015 season that the Ospreys will open the season with two games inside their home arena.

ROAD RUNNERS

The Ospreys will visit six different states in their travel schedule on the year, along with their pair of games overseas in Dublin, Ireland.

UNF will visit Wisconsin, Ireland and Alabama before Christmas break, and will return with trips to North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee and Arkansas.

Out of this year's road slate, the Ospreys will play against four Power Five opponents in Wisconsin, Miami (FL), Auburn and Alabama.

BROERMANN TIME

Emma Broermann leads this team as the unquestioned leader heading into the 2021-22 season. She enters he senior season as the only player on the team with more than one year of experience playing for UNF.

Last season, she was the only player on the team to start all 30 games played. The Okeana, Ohio, native also had the second-best field goal percentage (.602) and the ninth-most blocks (25) in the conference.

Broermann enters her senior season with the Ospreys sitting in the top spot for field goal percentage (.550), as well as the 10th-most blocks (37), in D-I program history.

RECORD WHEN…

LAST GM: Starter, 19 points, 3 rebs, 2 steals NOTABLE:

- Transferred in from Monmouth University in New Jersey where she played 26 matches and made three starts.

- Prior to that, logged 33 games at Cincinnati between 201719.

- Played six years of varsity basketball in Scarborough, Ontario.

- Averaged 25 points per contest in prep hoops during high school.

LAST GM: Starter, 2 points, 7 rebs, 5 assists NOTABLE:

- Three-time all-region team selection.

- Put up a massive double-double in a win against reigning state champs, Marietta, scoring 20 points to go with 10 rebounds, nine steals and four assists.

- Played for Randy McClure at Campbell HS in Smyrna, Ga.

- Played with the club team, Njardvik, since she was five years old.

- Two-time Subway League Team of the Week selection during the 2021-22 season.

- 2021-22 Icelandic Champion.

- Played two games for the Icelandic Women's National Team in 2022, playing against Finland and Sweden.

LAST GM: NOTABLE:

- A highly lauded shooter, Millar was first in 4A for three-point shooting and a top-5 shooter from beyond the arc for three seasons with Bishop Kenny.

- Millar was a three-time district and regional champion, helping BK to three state final fours and a pair of runner-up finishes.

- The guard finished with over 1,000-career points as a threetime All-First Coast selection.

- ASUN Honor Roll (2020-21, 2021-22).

- Played in 22 games and made a start in the ASUN opener at FGCU Jan. 5, in 2021-22.

- Averaged 12.8 minutes per game, averaging 3.4 points per contes, 1.5 rebounds and one assist.

- Notched a season-high eight points in two different games, doing so at FIU Dec. 4, and at Stetson Feb. 26.

- Appeared in two games for the Seahawks, making her UNF debut at Duke in 2021-22.

2021-22 | UNF in the ASUN Notes

>> UNF finished fifth in the East division with a 5-11 record in ASUN play. With the additions of jacksonville State, Eastern Kentucky and Central Arkansas in 2021, the conference added divisions for the first time in its history.

>> UNF won their opening game in the ASUN Conference tournament for the fifth consecutive season after defeating Lipscomb on the road. The Ospreys have also advanced to the semifinals in four of the past five years.

>> North Florida had one All-Conference selection in 2021-22 with forward Jazz Bond making the first team. It's the second consecutive season a UNF player has been picked to the first team, as well as the fifth straight season having a player collects AllASUN honors.

>> Along with her third career ASUN All-Conference selection, Bond also won her second straight Defensive Player of the Year award, as she shared the honor with UNA's Skyler Gill in what was the first coaward for defensive player of the year in ASUN history. 2022-23 ASUN FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

>> Jazz Bond, Arianna Emmanuel-Wright and Rhetta Moore have all earned ASUN All-Academic honors. Bond is the only one in the group with two in her career, while Moore's 2020-21 ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor was the first such award given to an Osprey in program history.

>> UNF women's basketball touts ASUN Superlative awards. North Florida has had two ASUN Newcomers of the Year and a trio of ASUN Defensive Player of the Year honors in addition to Moore's scholar-athlete recognition from last season.

>> The highest seed UNF has been in the ASUN Tournament is the three seed, achieved twice. North Florida has also been the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth seed.

LAST MEETING WITH NORTH ALABAMA

FLORENCE, Ala. - Despite UNF women's basketball's clinical performance in the paint, it was North Alabama's 11 three-pointers that set the Lions apart from the Ospreys (10-12, 3-7 ASUN) as North Florida dropped a 70-65 decision to UNA (9-12, 4-5 ASUN) Saturday, Feb. 5.

The game was all even at 52-52 with less than four minutes to go before UNA rattled off a pair of scoring runs to take the contest.

UNF went 5-for-25 from beyond the arc, while not hitting a three-pointer until the fourth quarter. The Ospreys outscored UNA, 34-22, in the paint and had 10 more rebounds than the Lions, but North Alabama scored 14 points off UNF turnovers and capitalized on a 12-0 advantage in fast break points.

Jazz Bond played over 35 minutes and posted her seventh double-double of the year and second on the road trip. The forward posted 16 points, 11 rebounds and became the UNF DI-era record holder for free throws made. Jazz Bond surpassed UNF Hall of Famer Brittany Kirkland for the mark, notching number 267 and 268 to pass Kirkland.

The Ospreys used 12 different players to seven for the Lions. Four of those seven reached double-digit points, led by Hina Suzuki's 23 points, 11 of which came from the free throw line.

Beyond the Box Score

First Quarter: UNF took its first lead of the first quarter on a Summah Evans layup … Kaila Rougier had four quick points … the Ospreys held North Alabama without a field goal for over seven minutes to give UNF a 15-11 lead.

Second Quarter: Despite another cold shooting quarter from beyond the arc, UNF did its work down low to create a 24-19 lead late into the session … UNA took its first lead of the quarter at the 48 second mark after consecutive three-pointers … Emma Broermann made a layup and drew contact just 26 seconds later, putting the Ospreys ahead, 29-27 … the Ospreys went into the break with the two-point lead … the Ospreys were 0-for-10 from three-point range, while UNA made six three-pointers … UNF outrebounded UNA, 25-17 … UNF led for nearly 15 minutes of the first half.

Third Quarter: UNA broke a 31-31 tie with a Skyler Gill three-pointer at the 8:19 mark … Jazz Bond scored six consecutive points for UNF, cutting into what was a five-point deficit … Tatiana Thompson scored a trio of buckets to counter UNA's continued success from the outside, tying the game at 43-43 with under a minute to go in the quarter.

Fourth Quarter: The Thompson show continued in the fourth as she hit UNF's first three-pointer of the game, giving UNF a 46-45 lead at the 8:58 mark … UNA rattled off a 7-0 run to take a 52-46 lead, but Rhetta Moore responded with an important three-pointer to cut the deficit back to three … UNF went on its own 6-0 run to even the game, 52-52 with just over five minutes to go … the Lions' Macey Lee scored five-straight points to put UNA up, 57-52 with 3:58 to go … UNF trailed by that same score with just over three minutes to go … Broermann hit a layup to stop UNA's run … the Lions went on a 6-0 run to create a 63-54 lead, its largest of the game … Rhetta Moore hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit to six with 49 seconds left … UNA hit two free throws, but Tiffany Tolbert replied with another three-pointer to cut the deficit to five once more … the Lions would close it out at the line.

Darrick Gibbs enters his eighth season at the helm of the North Florida women’s basketball program after being named the program's second head coach in April of 2015.

Gibbs, a coaching veteran with 18 years of experience in the collegiate ranks, took over the Ospreys after a 10-year stint as an assistant coach at the University of Miami.

During his decade at Miami, Gibbs helped guide the Hurricanes to six consecutive postseason appearances including four trips to the NCAA. He was a vital piece of Miami’s recent success with responsibility for player development along with handling scheduling. In addition, his recruiting efforts helped the 'Canes earn three Top 25 classes during his tenure. At UM, Gibbs recruited and mentored several players that have continued their playing careers professionally in the WNBA and overseas.

Gibbs joined the UM coaching ranks prior to the 2005-06 season, and helped lead UM to a 17-13 record and an appearance at the 2006 WNIT in his first season with the Hurricanes. During his time at Miami, the squad captured the ACC Championship in 2011 and reached the WNIT Championship game in 2010. The Hurricanes posted 20 or more victories in five of the last six seasons including a 20-13 record this year highlighted by an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Prior to his arrival at UM, Gibbs served as an assistant coach for two seasons (2003-05) at Charlotte under current Miami head coach Katie Meier. While at Charlotte, Gibbs helped Meier lead the 49ers to two WNIT appearances, including Charlotte's first postseason victory with a 78-71 win over Clemson in the 2004 WNIT. The 49ers put together 39-23 record in those two seasons, including a 22-9 mark in 2004-05 to tie for the third-most single-season wins in Charlotte history.

As one of the 49ers' main recruiting contacts, Gibbs played a major role in putting together their 33rd-ranked 2004 recruiting class during his first season at Charlotte.

Gibbs joined the Charlotte coaching staff in 2003 following a two-year stay at the College of Charleston where he served as an assistant coach from 2001-03. Prior to his stint with the Cougars, Gibbs spent three seasons at Wofford College. As an undergraduate, he served as a student assistant with the Terriers from 1998-00, and remained with the team as an assistant during the 2000-01 season.

Originally from Pawleys Island, S.C., Gibbs received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Wofford in 2000.

Gibbs and his wife D'Erica were married in April of 2009 and have two daughters, Daisha and Desiree and a son, Darrick Jr.

Swept North Alabama for the first time in program history which included a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Jazz Bond

Feb. 6, 2021:

Snapped Liberty's win streak & Marissa Mackins set a program record with eight three-pointers.

Nov. 13, 2021:

Set the UNF single game record for points in a game (126) and team assists record (43).
