During Head Coach Gibbs' tenure, UNF is 69-27 when shooting better than 40 percent. North Florida is 15-74 when held below the 40 percent clip during Gibbs' time at UNF. LAST TIME OUT JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - In a game of runs that saw both teams post a double-digit scoring run, it was Central Arkansas' (8-10, 3-4 ASUN) run that decided the game as North Florida women's basketball (9-10, 2-5 ASUN) had a two-game winning streak snapped in a 56-53 loss to UCA Thursday, Jan. 27 from the UNF Arena. LENDING A HAND Point guard Ally Knights has consistently distributed offensive opportunities for the Ospreys this year. Knights reached six assists Thursday vs. UCA, marking the sixth time Knights has notched six assists in a game this season. 100 After appearing in Saturday's game at EKU, Erin Jones became the third active Osprey to reach the 100-games played milestone. Jones joins Jazz Bond and Rhetta Moore in that category.
AT THE BREAK UNF is 9-3 when leading at the break and 0-7 when trailing. WHEN WINNING In UNF's nine wins, Emma Broermann, Rhetta Moore and Jazz Bond are all averaging double-digit points. Moore is shooting 45.6 percent from the floor while averaging 17.3 points per game. Jazz Bond is averaging 19 and 10.1 boards and Broermann is shooting 73.8 percent from the floor for 12.4 ppg. FOR THE RECORD >>UNF swatted 10 shots at FIU, setting the program Division I-era single game record. The mark ties UNF's program record, previously set against Valdosta State, Dec. 4, 1994. UNF followed that up two games later by matching the mark with 10 against Bethune-Cookman. >>Jazz Bond did the remarkable and blocked 12 percent of FIU's field goal attempts Saturday at Florida International. Bond's eight blocks ties a UNF single-game record, previously set by her in 2020. On 19 different occasions, Bond has blocked at least five shots. She ranks fourth in all divisions of NCAA Women's Basketball in career blocks with 236. She ranks fourth among active Division I women's basketball players in that category as well. >> UNF set the DI-era single-game steals record during a 92-40 win against Warner, while Summah Evans finished one steal short of the UNF DI-era single-game record for steals with seven. The Ospreys also tied a UNF DI-era mark for assists in a game with 25.
>> UNF did a lot of editing of the North Florida women's basketball record book in a 126-31 win against Trinity Baptist Saturday, Nov. 13. The Ospreys set a program record for points, breaking the previous mark (110 vs. Warner Nov. 9, 2019). Ally Knights became the first player FIVE ON IT Forward Jazz Bond blocked five shots against UCA Thursday, in NCAA Division I Women's Basketball to reach 20 assists helping North Florida to eight as a team. Bond has blocked since 2002, breaking the UNF program record. Of UNF's 50 FGs, 43 were assisted on. UNF's 5.3 blocks/game is a UNF season record. North Florida is eyeing a program single season blocks record, standing just 27 swats shy of the mark. Jazz Bond has blocked 48 shots this season, the fourth season she's racked up at least 40 blocks during her UNF tenure. She is the only Osprey to have reached that feat. She is 39 blocks shy of her all-time UNF record of 87, set in the 2019-20 campaign. UNF leads the league in blocks and blocks/game, as does Jazz Bond. Bond is 9th in the country in total bocks.
