1. WHAT TO KNOW

- Nick Kishchenko earned ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honors after assisting on two goals in 4-1 win against Winthrop.

- Joaquin Acuna has overtaken the sole lead for total shots this year with eight through four games started.

- He also added an assist against St. Thomas to tie Kishchenko for the team lead, while Zach Board became the second Osprey to have multiple goals scored this season.

- Luc Granitur currently leads the conference in total goals scored with three, which also ranks 17th in the nation.

- Also from a national scale, Acuna and Kishchenko are two of 38 players to have two or more assists so far this season.

- Chema Preciado is another name in the top-40 nationally with 14 total saves that leads the ASUN.

- UNF will have four starters from last year’s game returning to play against the Eagles on Friday night.

2. SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

Much like UNF, Georgia Southern started their season with a 1-1-1 record. They have a 2-0 win to UNC Asheville, a 0-0 draw to Florida Gulf Coast and a 1-0 loss to East Tennessee State.

This will be the second of three ASUN opponents from Florida for the Eagles. They traveled to play FGCU on Friday, Sept. 1, and will host UNF and JU on Sept. 8 and Sept. 12.

Last season, the Eagles went 1-14-1 on the season with their only win being against UNF, 1-0, on the road. They also had a 1-1 draw against Stetson in their regular season finale.

Jack Ireland and Alex Smith each have one goal recorded for Georgia Southern, as Ireland leads the team in shots (5) and shots on goal (2). Nate Martinez is the leader at keeper with seven saves and only one goal allowed in three starts.

3. SERIES HISTORY

- UNF is 4-10-1 all-time against Georgia Southern with a 2-4-1 record against them on the road.

- The Ospreys have played GASO every season since 2015 outside of the 2021 spring season.

- They will be looking to break a six-game losing streak to the Eagles that dates back to 2016.

- Will also search for first win in Statesboro, Ga., since the 2012 season.

2023 University of North Florida men’s soccer game notes are meant to provide SIDs, radio crews, streaming crews and media members more in-depth information on UNF men’s soccer and its student-athletes.

NORTH FLORIDA STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS

The North Florida Strategic Communications office is located on the first floor of the UNF Arena in room 1062. Entering the arena through the front entrance, the office can be accessed by going past the main office, through two double doors and turning to the double doors to the left.

CREDENTIAL REQUESTS

The North Florida Strategic Communications Office will issue credentials to WORKING press only. All passes will be left at the security table at the main entrance to Hodges Stadium.

VISITING RADIO

All visiting radio crews MUST request credentials through their school’s sports information director. Please make arrangements well in advance so necessary arrangements can be made.

NORTH FLORIDA’S RECORD WHEN...

Following a 10-minute “cooling off” period, a postmatch press conference will take place on the field. The North Florida Strategic Communications staff will poll the media prior to the end of the match to determine which players will be made available after the match. The visiting coach and players will be made available outside their locker room. Pre-game interviews are NOT allowed.

INTERVIEWS

Most practices are open to the media and public. However, there may be instances when all or parts of practice are closed. Contact the Strategic Communications Office for practice times and to set up any interviews with North Florida players and coaches.

Parking for UNF men’s soccer matches is located in UNF Lot 18 just north of Hodges Stadium.
