1994 NC AA TEAM QUALIFIER~27 NC AA REGIONAL TEAMS~9 NC AA QUALIFIERS Ed Datti enters his 29th year with the program, 27th as a full-time coach. The Associate Head Coach is known as one of the top assistants nationally. He received the NCAA Northeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year honors most recently in 2008 and also in 1994. He was also recognized five times as co-recipient of that award (2006, 2003, 2001, 1997 and 1991). Datti is highly respected by his colleagues for his skills as a strong technical coach and outstanding spotter. UNH head coach Gail Goodspeed states: “Obviously, I am a little biased, but Ed is one of the best spotters in the nation. He can anticipate when a gymnast is in need of assistance and can react faster than seems possible. He also has the unique ability of knowing exactly how much assistance is needed. A great balance is created with his technical expertise and spotting ability to help all of our team members continue to improve and upgrade their skills.” At UNH, Datti is responsible for the majority of the recruiting and continues to bring top gymnasts to the UNH campus. He is the director of a highly successful summer camp and initiated a community class program. Datti also co-teaches a movement and gymnastics exploration class for the kinesiology department with assistant coach Lindsey Bruck. Datti is the former owner and head coach of the Montvale School of Gymnastics in Woburn, Mass. Lindsey Bruck a former gymnast and a 2008 graduate from the University of Michigan, enters her second season as an assistant coach with the University of New Hampshire women’s gymnastics team. Bruck coordinates the paperwork for numerous aspects of the program and is the primary choreographer. She co-teaches the movement and gymnastics exploration class with Associate Head Coach Ed Datti. She also is responsible for the UNH community gymnastics class program. Bruck, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Health at Michigan, was a two-time All-American, a Honda Award finalist, a 2008 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee, and a twotime NCAA Northeast Region Gymnast of the Year with the Wolverines. The 2008 Big Ten Gymnast of the Year was also a nine-time Big Ten Gymnast of the Week (tied for the Big Ten Record), a three-time All-Big Ten first Team selection, a 2006 Big Ten Champion on balance beam and the all-around champion, a 2008 Big Ten Championship runner-up (beam), and a 2005 Big Ten Championship runner-up (all-around and beam). The two-time captain also holds the school record for the most all-around scores of 39.000+ by a sophomore (13), and was named to the 2004 All-Big Ten Second Team as a four-year letterwinner. Academically, Bruck was named an NACGC/W Academic All-American, an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District FirstTeam pick, a four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, and a fourtime University of Michigan Athletic Academic Achievement recipient. Bruck comes to UNH with 21 years of experience as a gymnast. During that time, she was a four-time JO national team member and trained and qualified as an international elite. Over the past four years, she has gained valuable coaching experience at private clubs in Michigan and New York and at the University of Michigan and University of New Hampshire Summer Camps. She also has experience as a physical education teacher at the elementary and high school levels. “Lindsey was a phenomenal student-athlete and brings a wealth of competitive and coaching talent to our program,” said Goodspeed. “Her personality is upbeat and she has made a tremendous impact on our program in just one year. We watched Lindsey compete at the private level and enjoyed watching her have a successful career at the University of Michigan. She has been part of one of the best programs in the country and will help our gymnasts strive to reach their full potential.” Bruck is a native of Syracuse, N.Y.

Dan Sedory serves as the athletic trainer for the UNH gymnastics team. He is entering his 22nd season with the gymnastics squad and is an integral member of the coaching staff. Sedory, a Pittsburgh native, graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Physical Education (1982) and received his Masters in Athletic Training from the University of Arizona (1984). Sedory is currently a clinical associate professor of athletic training at UNH. Since 1988 he has also served as the curriculum director for athletic training within the University’s department of kinesiology. With Sedory’s extensive work and commitment to enrichment, it has earned the distinction of being a CAATE Accredited Athletic Training Program. In 2006, he was honored for his contributions by receiving the “Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award” from NATA, awarded to role models for future leaders in the athletic training profession. This award came shortly after Sedory was named New Hampshire’s Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer of the Year for 2006. Also on his list of accolades is the NATA Athletic Trainer Service Award, which he received in 2001. Sedory served as an athletic trainer for the United States Olympic Committee Medical Staff at the U.S. Olympic Festival in Los Angeles in 1991 and with the Summer World University Games in 1993. He also served as the host athletic trainer for the World Gold Gymnastics tour appearance in Durham in 1996. The Wildcats are fortunate to have such a knowledgeable and well respected athletic trainer on their coaching staff. “Dan has more experience as an athletic trainer for women’s gymnastics than anyone,” UNH head coach Gail Goodspeed states. “He knows the sport and the athletes. One of his greatest strengths is his ability to truly listen to our gymnasts and care about them as individuals.”

John Ciani enters his eighth year as the strength and conditioning coach for the women’s gymnastics team. The two basic goals of the Strength and Conditioning department are injury prevention and performance enhancement. The first goal, injury prevention, revolves around reducing the likelihood of the athlete getting injured during meets or practice by training the athlete as a unit and pinpointing weaknesses in the gymnast that need to be strengthened. The second goal, performance enhancement, centers on making the athlete a better athlete. This is done by educating the athlete on a wide range of training from Olympic-style weight lifting to teaching the athlete how to move more efficiently while running or during an agility drill. The strength and conditioning program plays a vital role in the success of UNH gymnastics. The athletes train virtually year-round in order to perform at their highest level throughout the regular season. The UNH gymnastics strength and conditioning program is a comprehensive training program that involves Olympic-style weight lifting, traditional strength training, plyometrics, agility/quickness training and sport-specific conditioning. Ciani and his wife Angela and son Brennan live in Kittery, Maine.

Lundholm Gymnasium

Practice Facility

The practice facility, which allows the UNH gymnasts to train and perform at the highest level, is heralded as one of the safest and efficient training spots in New England. The UNH coaching staff has worked hard to ensure that the 8,500 square foot gymnasium has been well maintained and updated to meet the highest standards. The loose foam and solid foam pits, the two tumble traks, the overhead spotting rigs, a rod tumbling strip, and all of the most updated gymnastics apparatus and matting make this a facility that continues to attract top notch athletes. Recently, the coaching staff added an instant view playback system for all four events. This allows immediate feedback and enhances the training for the visual learner. All the necessary tools are in place for the best collegiate gymnasts in the country to train and continue to learn new skills. Two sites play host for the home gymnastics competitions, Lundholm Gymnasium and the Whittemore Center Arena. The Whittemore Center seats over 6,000 fans for gymnastics, while Lundholm Gymnasium seats approximately 2,500 fans for gymnastics. In past years the Whittemore Center has been the host site of the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship and the EAGL Championship Meet, as well as the annual Fox Run Invitational. In 2003, the Whittemore Center entertained an EAGL record breaking crowd to witness some of the highest caliber gymnastics action ever seen in the Seacoast. The UNH gymnastics program continues to expand and improve its training and competitive facility with its commitment to excellence. In 1994, one of the first groups to work all four years in the training facility won the ECAC conference championship, placed first in the NCAA Regional Championship, and went on to qualify for the NCAA National Championship and finished ranked 12th in the country. The team has continued its strong tradition of excellence, and set a new team and conference scoring record in 2003 with a total team score of 196.750 while winning the EAGL Championship.

NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP University of Florida Above is a map showing the regional alignment. In an effort to promote parity between regions, the University of Michigan is included in the Northeast Region. Regionals: The top 36 teams based on the Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) will be selected for the regional championships. A regional meet - consists of six teams and five all-around competitors (who are not already on one of the six qualifying teams) and one individual specialist per event (who has a minimum RQS of 9.4) - is conducted in each of the six regions to determine the national championship participants. To obtain the RQS, each team selects its top six team scores with at least three of those scores from away meets, tossing out the highest score and averaging the remaining five. The top 18 teams will be seeded, and from there regional competition spots will be filled in order of regional qualifying score. Note that each region will continue to be represented but will not have a guaranteed minimum number of teams represented in the championships. Teams will be placed in the closest geographic site, as much as possible. Regional hosts shall remain in their respective regions. Nationals: The national championship consists of 12 teams and 12 all-around competitors. The top two teams and the top two all-around winners from each regional meet will receive an automatic berth to the national championships. In addition, each event winner may advance to the national championship (in that event only) if she is not already part of an advancing team or an all-around qualifier.

4 EC AC CHA MPIONSHIPS ~ 2003 EAGL CHAMPIONS

2009 Review/2010 Preview The 2009 Wildcat Gymnastics squad continued the tradition of excellence by qualifying to the NCAA Regional Championship for the 27th time in the 28 years that the NCAA has sponsored the event. After barely missing qualification to the meet in 2008, the pressure was on to return to the Regional Championship to be held at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. A spot in the NCAA tournament was clinched by the Wildcats at the EAGL Conference Championship, where the posted score of 194.65 was solid and good enough for fifth place. The conference is so strong that it comes down to who can make the fewest errors and, unfortunately, UNH quickly moved from a top spot to fifth place when they suffered two falls on beam in the last rotation. However, the disappointment in the standings was quickly replaced with excitement when the calculations for NCAA Regional Qualification determined that the score was good enough to guarantee UNH’s spot. A fantastic meet on Jan. 31 against North Carolina highlighted the regular season meets. UNH scored a season-high of 196.225 to defeat UNC, which scored a 195.95. The Wildcats served notice that they were a team to watch and the score of this meet went into the record books as the fifth-highest in school history. The season was off to a great start with a 7-0 record when the team suffered its first loss and disappointing performance the next weekend at NC State where the home team, North Carolina and Maryland topped the Wildcats, and UNH defeated Towson in the five-team meet. The Fox Run Invitational found the Wildcats back on top with a 194.875 score to defeat Air Force, Bridgeport, and Yale. The second half of the season was a mix of good performances and disappointments. The second-highest score of the season came during a highly-contested meet against Michigan State where the Wildcats ended up on the short end of the meet with scores of 195.675 for Michigan State and 195.35 for UNH. However, this meet put the team back on track for hitting sets and finishing the season with strong performances. Captain Justine Turner was not only a great leader for the 2009 team but her competitive performances, particularly on vaulting, beam and floor will be greatly missed. She was in the top six on vaulting nine out of 10 times (with two first place finishes and six -second places) during the regular season, five of 10 times on

24

Wildcat Gymnastics

floor, and four of 10 times on beam. Turner concluded her four-year Wildcat career joining the 1,000 point club (1248.45). Stepping into her shoes as leaders for 2010 are senior co-captains Helena Diodati and Taryn LaFountain, along with junior assistant captain Katie Lawrence. The team set a motto of “One Team…No Regrets” with the focus coming from a strong senior class of six who truly want to culminate their careers with “no regrets” and hope all of the underclassmen will recognize how fast the collegiate years will go by. This senior class combines six talented gymnasts whose scores can be added together to create great team scores. When you combine the senior co-captain’s best events; vaulting (PB-9.925) and bars (PB-9.9) for Diodati; and beam (PB-9.9) and floor (PB9.9) for LaFountain, top team scores can be reached. Diodati is continuing to train as an all-around threat with her personal-best being a 39.2 at the historic UNH vs. UNC meet in 2009. Taryn LaFountain maintains the team’s top spot on balance beam and floor exercise. Kelsey Alwin has enjoyed great Fall training as an all-arounder with strengths on vaulting (PB9.825) and bars (PB-9.8). She has solidified those two events and has added difficulty to her tumbling on floor. Keeley Smith is a three-event gymnast with a dynamic floor routine (PB-9.9) and expressive beam (PB-9.925). She surprised everyone with her consistency on bars (PB-9.8) last year and will be a key contributor this season on that event as well. Diane Grey has the ability to once again be a mainstay and consistent performer on bars (PB-9.9) and vault (PB-9.775). She is doing a vault that is different than the majority of collegiate vaulters (full on pike off 10.0 start value), and sticking it will be the goal. Julie Sauchuk, a transfer from Michigan State, made her presence known last year on floor (PB 9.9) as one of our top routines. She placed fourth at the EAGL Championship and was in the top ten eight times out of 11 performances. She will continue that trend and hopes to add beam and vault to her contribution. Chelsea Steinberg, Katie Caliendo and Katie Lawrence will lead the juniors. Steinberg is training at her highest level this Fall and is ready to step in on all four events and make her mark. Her best event is beam (PB-9.875) where she had a share of the EAGL Title in 2009. She will join LaFountain as two of the best beam competitors in the region and the EAGL Conference. She has cleaned up her dismount and has a rhythm and style that is unmatched on this event. Steinberg has really solidified her other three events and has the ability to be an All-Around performer

for this year’s squad. Katie Caliendo has continued to improve each year and 2009 will continue that trend. Her vault, an explosive Yurchencko full (PB-9.85), has improved and she will be one of the team’s top vaulters. Katie is about to make an impressive return to the floor (PB-9.775) line-up as she has increased her difficulty in tumbling and has a newly-choreographed routine that will definitely be a fan favorite. Beam (PB-9.85) is also a great event for Katie and once she gets the consistency down, she should make an impact. Katie Lawrence has been elected as a junior assistant captain and leads on and off the floor with a smile. She has worked very hard on her two specialty events, bars (PB-9.8) and beam (PB- 9.875). On each event, she has taken a solid routine that counted for the team last year and has upgraded dismounts to be a stand-out. She adds a full twisting double back off bars and a unique tumbling combination off beam; a hitch kick to side aerial immediate 1 ½ twist off the end of the beam. Junior Taryn Archambault has improved her vault by piking her front handspringfront and has been working to make the floor line-up by improving her front tumbling skills. Ali Carr and Danielle Reibold have both experienced some minor setbacks this fall, but are now in the swing of training and have the talent to consistently score high. Both sophomore gymnasts have great bar routines with Reibold holding the honor of being the team’s most consistent bar worker during the 2009 season. (Carr-PB 9.9 and Reibold PB-9.825) They have the talent to contribute on the other three events as well, and they can be keys to team success. With Carr and Reibold ready to have their best year yet, no one in the gym has improved as much as sophomore Tasia Percevecz. Tasia spent the summer and fall getting in great shape and is poised to make the most out of her second year. Floor exercise is a strong point, but bars and vault are possibilities. The Freshman class is loaded with talent and enthusiasm. Leading the way will be Austyn Fobes,

ONE TEAM...

1994 NC AA TEAM QUALIFIER~27 NC AA REGIONAL TEAMS~9 NC AA QUALIFIERS

a talented former elite gymnast who has an amazing repertoire of difficult skills. She has no weak event and will challenge for an All-Around spot. Bars and floor are especially strong with solid aggressive swinging and high-level releases on bars, and high level tumbling on floor. Austyn has beautiful execution and amplitude in everything she does. Right behind her are classmates Courtney Connors and Dianna Kurowyckyj, two New York gymnasts who have great skills on all four events and need only experience to really make an impact. Dianna is very solid on beam and should be a top performer on that event while Courtney can tumble and vault with our best athletes and can really help the squad on those events. Jen Aucoin and Becca Marrama round out the class and each will bring strength to an already solid team. Aucoin is recovering from major shoulder surgery during the summer before coming to Durham, but is doing well and should be a huge contributor on bars. She is also very strong on the other events and once she gets some more training time her quickness and power will be a welcome addition. Marrama should be able to break into the floor line-up as a freshman and with continued improvement in her combination tumbling she can be one of the higher-scoring floor competitors. Once again the competitive schedule is packed with highpower teams. The Wildcats will host Pittsburgh, Brown, Maryland, and North Carolina State in dual meets. The annual UNH Invitational will be held at Lundholm Gymnasium and will feature Utah State, Ball State and Yale. The squad’s travels take them to Rutgers, Brown, Missouri, Michigan State, George Washington and Texas Woman’s University. EAGL’s will once again be a quality competition with the Wildcats in the hunt for a top-three spot. The region will get a chance to see some of the best collegiate gymnastics in the country on March 27 when UNH hosts the EAGL Championships with North Carolina, NC State, Maryland, Pittsburgh, George Washington, Rutgers and West Virginia all in Durham. Each year gets more difficult and the UNH gymnasts will have to be solid to compete with the best. Qualification to the NCAA Regional meet will be a straight formula for the Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) counting the top six scores, with at least three of those from away meets, dropping the highest score and averaging the remaining five. When the RQS is determined, the top 36 teams will qualify to the NCAA Regional meets with the top 18 seeded into the six sites. This year’s Northeast Regional meet will be hosted by Penn State University on April 10. The NCAA National Championship will feature the top two teams from each of the Regional meets, the top two individual all-arounders (who are not part of an advancing team), and any individual Regional event winners who are not part of a team or an all-around qualifier. The 2010 Championship will be hosted by the University of Florida, from April 22-24. The Wildcats have a strong team with a lot of potential and room to grow and develop into a gymnastics force. There is a great balance between experienced studentathletes and exciting newcomers which holds great optimism for this team achieving their goals. A return to the NCAA Regional Championship with a goal of qualifying to the National Championships could be within the sites of the 2010 UNH women’s gymnastics team.

4 EC AC CHA MPIONSHIPS ~ 2003 EAGL CHAMPIONS

Wildcats To Watch Vault

Uneven Bars

Vault has the potential to be a high scoring event for the Wildcats. The ‘Cats 2010 vaulting squad has ten team members who have successfully competed 10.0 start value vaults. Four others are training 10.0 start value vaults. Six returnees have scored above 9.7 and three newcomers have vaulting as one of their best events.

Bars will be a solid event for the Wildcats this year. Last year’s bar squad returns intact, and a couple of new routines will add even more excitement to the mix. Diodati will lead a consistent group of athletes. She is coming off another great year on the uneven bars. Lawrence, Grey, Reibold, Smith, Alwin and Carr all have proven ability on this event. Each has competed high level routines that score well. Steinberg, Fobes and Kurowyckyj can easily compete with last year’s team members and Aucoin, who is coming back from a high school senior year injury that required surgery, has the potential to be one of the team’s top bar competitors.

Helena Diodati will lead the event as one of the top vaulters in the region. Helena’s technique sets her apart from the rest. She performs a clean and dynamic full twisting Yurchenko (roundoff onto board, back handspring back layout full). SV = 10.0 Katie Caliendo also competes a full twisting Yurchenko and has gained a great deal of competitive experience the last two years. Her vault has become one of the most consistent vaults on the team SV = 10.0 Ali Carr adds another Yurchenko 1/1 and should become a consistent member of the vaulting squad as she works to perfect her vault. SV=10.0 Kelsey Alwin also adds a full twisting Yurchenko that has become more consistent during training this fall and should continue to improve. A stuck vault from Kelsey will compete with the best. SV = 10.0 Diane Grey breaks the cycle of full twisting Yurchenkos with a difficult 1/1 on back pike off vault. She has the potential to score well with this vault with a clean landing. SV = 10.0 Ch e l s e a Ste i n b e rg brings a 10.0 vault to the table with her Phelps Yurchenko (roundoff onto board, back handspring, ½ twist layout front). Chelsea is stronger than ever and can really improve the amplitude of this vault. SV = 10.0 Austyn Fobes has another full twisting Yurchenko and the experience to make a difference. She is a dynamic athlete and can perform the high level skills. SV = 10.0 Courtney Connors has vault as one of her top events with a solid full twisting Yurchenko. As a newcomer to collegiate vaulting she will have to deal with being consistent with only one vault per competitor. SV = 10.0 Danielle Reibold is working on laying out her Yurchenko 1/1, but has competed a very solid Yurchenko tuck 1/1. SV = 9.9 Dianna Kurowyckyj has the ability to surprise everyone and be a very dynamic vaulter with her Phelps Yurchenko. She is powerful and just needs to improve on her consistency. SV = 10.0 Tasia Percevecz competes a Yurchenko 1/1 and will work to break into the line-up. SV= 10.0 Taryn Archambault, Jen Aucoin and Julie Sauchuk all have the potential to vault into the line-up.

Diodati is one of the most elegant bar workers in the country. She will be doing a giant full to Geinger, a beautiful Pak salto and has solidified a high flying double layout dismount. Katie Lawrence came out of nowhere last year to become one of the teams most consistent bar performers. She has a clean Jaeger and has added a full twisting double back dismount this year. Reibold competes bars with a great giant full to Geinger and a beautiful giant full to 2/1 full dismount. She is extremely clean and consistent and has proven her abilities with high judging marks on one of her best events. Fobes competes a Tkachev and beautiful Pak and finishes with a high flying full twisting double back. She should be an impact athlete on this event. Aucoin is explosive, with a dynamic Hindorff (free hip reverse hecht), clean swing and a solid double layout dismount. Grey has a routine the team can count on. She does a variety of turning giants to a Pak salto and is working to upgrade her dismount. Carr has learned to pike her high flying Jaeger and does a solid double layout dismount. She is exciting to watch on bars. Her power and great form are evident as she performs. Alwin will compete a giant full to Tkachev and a double lay out dismount. She has a lot of experience with this routine and is poised to be a huge factor this year. Keeley Smith has a giant half to Jaeger, and also a blind 1/1 to double tuck. She was very solid on this event last year. Steinberg has improved this event more than any other and with her Tkachev and improved double layout dismount; she will definitely vie for a competition spot. Kurowyckyj competes a great full twisting giant to bail handstand to toe up combination and a solid double layout dismount and is working on her consistency with her Tkachev. She has a great ability to hit when it counts and once her release is solid, she will challenge the best. Connors rounds out the talented squad with a Geinger release and a solid half in double front dismount. Consistency will be the key for these challengers to have a shot at the line-up. They all have 10.0 start values with very few execution errors. The Wildcats have an exciting bar line-up and should impress audiences and judges wherever they compete.

Wildcats To Watch Balance Beam

Returnees: Kelsey Alwin, Taryn Archambault, Katie Caliendo, Ali Carr, Helena Diodati, Diane Grey, Taryn LaFountain, Katie Lawrence, Kate McGeever, Tasia Percevecz, Danielle Reibold, Andie Sablosky, Janae Sernoffsky, Keeley Smith, Chelsea Steinberg, Julie Sauchuk Newcomers: Jen Aucoin, Courtney Connors, Austyn Fobes, Dianna Kurowyckyj, Becca Marrama

Balance beam has a wonderful mix of experience and talented newcomers. Returning performers LaFountain, Steinberg and Smith have hit past scores of 9.9 or above. Diodati, Caliendo, Reibold and Lawrence are experienced athletes who all competed successfully last year. Kurowyckyj and Fobes have the ability to join the top beam performers while Carr, Aucoin and Sauchuk will be pushing the squad for a spot in the line-up. Add Alwin and Connors; who with consistency can jump into the picture, and you have depth and talent in an event that is always a key to success. This should be one of the Wildcats best and most talented beam groups in years. Taryn LaFountain has been recognized as one of the premier beam performers in the region and conference. She combines a back handspring-back layout two feet, straddle jump, immediate back tuck for an opening pass. Her dance is exquisite and equally as difficult. Steinberg uses a round off-back handspring mount, round offback layout – 1-arm back handspring for her series and a front full dismount. She performs a very quick rhythm that makes her fun to watch. Kurowyckyj competes a back handspring to layout two feet, a side somi and solid dance. She has that ability to make this event look easy and can “hit when it counts”. Lawrence was the team’s most improved athlete last year and her improvement on beam was a huge factor in making this award. She exploded on the scene with a triple flight series of back handspring, layout step out to back handspring and excellent dance and consistency. She adds a difficult tumbling dismount combination this year; a hitch kick to side aerial to immediate 1 ½ twisting back layout. Reibold has battled back on this event from a tough start last year. She has great rhythm and focus with proven success on beam. She competes a front tuck mount to wolf jump, a back handspring to back pike and solid jump combinations. Smith has an enjoyable and theatrical style on beam. She competes a front tuck mount, switch leap to switch side, straddle ¾, back handspring-back layout and dismounts with gainer back pike off the end of the beam. Diodati proved last year she can compete with the best on this event. She is adding a triple flight of two back handsprings to a layout and still has impeccable form and execution in all of her dance. Fobes is a newcomer who brings a great deal of experience to this event and once her flight is solid ; she will be tough to keep out of the line-up. She does a back handspring to layout two feet, a side somi and excellent leap combinations. Caliendo combines a front aerial to immediate back lay out, as well as a back handspring-back layout. Sauchuk performs a standing front flip to a straddle ¼ jump and a back handspring-back layout two feet series. Aucoin can do a back handspring to two layout step outs. Carr has beautiful leaps and tumbling and Alwin performs high difficulty skills. They need to be consistent in hitting this event in practice and under pressure and could be ready to step in at any time.

Floor Exercise

Floor Exercise is always a crowd pleasing event and this year’s squad should be among the most entertaining groups we have seen at UNH. With returning athletes such as LaFountain, Caliendo, Sauchuk and Smith the bar will be set high. The entire freshman class has floor exercise as one of their top events. Leading the way for the freshman will be Fobes, Kurowyckyj and Connors, but Marrama and Aucoin will be right with them. Add in Steinberg, Diodati, Reibold, Carr and Percevecz and the coaching staff will have a tough time making line-up decisions. Leaps and jumps with amplitude, entertaining choreography, and extremely difficult tumbling lines will make this event fun to watch. LaFountain will be trying to add a double layout to her already great routine and has new choreography that will be exciting to watch. Sauchuk brings a combination of high level tumbling and clean execution to floor exercise. She will be among the event’s best with her opening tumbling pass a double pike, a solid combination tumbling pass in the middle and ending with a double tuck. She has a proven track record on floor and has a new routine that is fun to watch and will score well. Caliendo is also adding an extremely difficult new tumbling pass; a full twisting double back salto, and has also added a unique last pass of Rudi to immediate Shushanova. Smith will once again be a crowd favorite with a new routine featuring two double salto passes and a great theatrical style. Fobes brings her acrobatic skills including a full twisting double back and a front double full to punch front to the line-up. Her dance and execution should bring high scores from the judges. Connors and Kurowyckyj both have outstanding double salto passes and great combinations, a Rudi to layout step out and a whip half to Rudi respectively. These two freshmen are known for their consistency on floor. Steinberg and Diodati are both coming off last year where they were not able to compete floor due to injury and both are ready to reenter the line-up and make a difference. They both perform double pikes and have Rudi passes, but they have the ability to separate themselves from the competition with exceptional form and execution. Becca Marrama and Percevecz count floor as their best event and have the ability to break into the line-up. Marrama has two double backs in her routine and Percevecz competes a double pike and a nice full twisting front layout combination. Carr and Aucoin have great floor, but hope to recover from injuries to train hard enough to make the floor squad. Each athlete can double pike, and execute solid combination tumbling. Both have clean dance and while Carr has a beautiful classic style, Aucoin has the potential to be a powerful and dynamic floor competitor.

4 EC AC CHA MPIONSHIPS ~ 2003 EAGL CHAMPIONS

EAGL 2010 EAGL Championship Saturday, March 27, 2 p.m.

At UNH’s Lundholm Gymnasium (Durham, N.H.) What does “EAGL” stand for? Coaches from four different conferences joined together fourteen years ago to form the “East Atlantic Gymnastics League” to provide top caliber competition for some strong women’s gymnastics teams. Teams from the Big East (West Virginia, Pittsburgh, and Rutgers), America East (New Hampshire), Atlantic Coast Conference (North Carolina, North Carolina State, and Maryland) and Colonial Athletic Association (Towson) initiated one of the strongest post season meets in the country. Since 2005, George Washington University, an Atlantic 10 team, has replaced Towson. Every team in the league has improved and added top recruits so this championship should be very exciting. 1. In Memory In November 2000, Katie Baldwin, a 20-year-old junior gymnast of the University of N e w H a m p s h i re from Dover, Pa., passed away from a pulmonary embolism. Katie was an exceptional person who touched many lives. She was an outstanding athlete, scholar and friend. When everyone thinks of Katie, they always see her smile. It seems to be a smile that no one can, or will, ever forget. Katie was an NACGC/W Academic All-American both of her years and part of the EAGL All-Academic Team in both seasons. She made Dean’s List all four semesters and earned a grade point average of 3.81. She was a Dean’s Scholarship Award recipient and also a UNH academic athletic achievement award recipient in both 1999 and 2000. She was a threeevent gymnast for UNH with career highs of 9.75 on bars, 9.575 on beam and 9.6 on the floor. She was named the team’s Most Improved Gymnast in 1999.

Katie Baldwin Expression Award Following each home meet, the UNH gymnastics staff will select a gymnast to receive the Katie Baldwin Expression Award. The 2009 winners were: Katie Caliendo, Diane Grey, Taryn LaFountain, Keeley Smith, Chelsea Steinberg

Academic Excellence Award The Academic Excellence Award was established in 2002 and is awarded in memory of Katie Baldwin to the gymnast with the highest grade point average. Freshman Danielle Reibold (Horsham, Penn.), who compiled a 3.83 GPA, was named the 2009 recipient. Reibold was also named to the NACGC/W Scholastic All-American Team and the EAGL AllAcademic Team. She recorded a personal best of 9.725 vault and 9.825 bars and beam, achieving First-Team EAGL All-Tournament distinction in both events, as well as a 9.75 floor and 38.35 in the all-around. Past recipients include Michelle Harley (2002), Mellory Giberson (2003), Heather Moore (2004), Lindsay Kovary (2006), two-time honoree Rebekah Porter (2007 and 2005) and Katie Caliendo (2008).

Academic Accolades

Rebekah Porter graduated in May 2008 with a degree in Athletic Training, and with numerous accolades and accomplishments, both athletically and academically. University of New Hampshire University of New Hampshire Athletic Department Mission Statement The mission of the intercollegiate athletics program at UNH is to provide student-athletes a collegiate experience that is enriched by their participation in programs which are competitive at the NCAA Division I level both regionally and nationally. The intercollegiate athletics program also plays an important role by enhancing the quality of life for the University and statewide community by being a source of pride and identification with the University while always maintaining high standards of academic scholarship and integrity. To fulfill its mission, the intercollegiate program must: (1) Provide student-athletes every opportunity to meet academic and athletic demands with the goal of graduating every student-athlete; (2) Provide resources necessary to field competitive teams with league affiliations, and to gain regional and national recognition; (3) Provide equitable opportunities for all intercollegiate athletics by the active recruitment of minority athletes, and provide equitable opportunities for all women student-athletes commensurate with that of their male counterparts; (4) Provide excellent facilities for all student-athletes to train, practice and play; (5) Conduct all operations within state and federal law, University policies, rules of the NCAA, and athletics conferences in which the University competes.

UNH Diversity Statement

The University seeks excellence through diversity among its administrators, faculty, staff, and students. The University prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, veteran status, or marital status. The University of New Hampshire is committed to creating a more diverse community, knowing that “inclusion, diversity and equity are values inextricably linked to our mission of educational excellence.” This diversity strengthens our ability to reach our individual and collective potential and to provide better services and care for all faculty, staff and students. The University of New Hampshire was originally founded as a land-grant college whose mission was to shape and educate citizenry among the state’s farmers, business people and engineers. Today, the University is a land-, sea-, and space-grant university serving a growing undergraduate student body of about 11,000 and a graduate population of 3,000 in addition to 600 full-time faculty members, 92% of which have earned their doctorate degree. The University has grown into a top public research university occupying 2,600 acres of classic living and learning space, while still maintaining the look and feel of a New England liberal arts college with a faculty dedicated to teaching. UNH’s student to faculty ratio registers at 17:1 with 84% of its classes having 50 students or less. As one of the most prestigious institutions in the Northeast, the University of New Hampshire has always been recognized as a leader in education and research, spanning all fields of study and uniting them through interdisciplinary programs, labs, farms, theatres, research centers and libraries. Founded in 1866 as the New Hampshire College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts, UNH was among the early state institutions of higher education whose formation was made possible by federal government land grants. The purpose for the grants was to establish colleges that would serve the sons and daughters of farming and laboring families. New Hampshire College was originally situated in Hanover, N.H. Here it was in connection with Dartmouth College before moving to Durham in 1893 after Benjamin Thompson bequeathed land and money to further the development of the college. The state legislature then granted its new charter as the University of New Hampshire in 1923. The University hosts nearly 550 international students from more than 40 countries and boasts a population of students from 49 states. Along with over 100 majors offered, UNH encompasses seven schools and colleges that undergraduates can choose from: the College of Liberal Arts, College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, School of Health and Human Services, College of Life Sciences and Agricultures, Whittemore School of Business and Economics and the Thompson School of Applied Science. And at the very heart of the University’s undergraduate studies is the General Education Program. University of New Hampshire Award. In addition, the Whittemore School of Business and Economics, established in 1962, was recently selected second among all business schools in a nationwide pool of business school deans. New Hampshire also graduates students who attend top-notch graduate schools, including Law School at Harvard and Cornell, Engineering at Stanford, and Medical school at Dartmouth, John Hopkins and Harvard. In the last few years, several of the athletic facilities have received major upgrades and improvements. In September 2001, the University completed a new $2.15 million track and field facility. The Jerry Azumah Performance Center, a brand new strength and conditioning facility located in the UNH Field House, was dedicated July 8, 2003. UNH athletics has also added two brand new $1.5 million outdoor artificial fields at Memorial Field (AstroTurf) and Bremner Field (AstroPlay). Lundholm Gymnasium has received some major overhauls, including a new playing surface, new lights, a new sound system and, most recently, a brand new bleacher system in the summer of 2007. A third artificial field (Field Turf) was also installed in Cowell Stadium in July ‘07. In addition to the incredible improvements of its athletic facilities, the University has upgraded and renovated a large part of its academic campus as well. Most recently, Thompson Hall, one of the standing historical landmarks of the University, has been beautifully refurbished and restored. The University also completed a $52 million renovation of Kingsbury Hall, adding 6,000 square feet of student project space for students in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, as well as a $4.5 revamp of Hewitt Hall to expand the School of Health and Human Services. In addition, the new 120,000 square foot Biological Sciences Building, Rudman Hall and the Spaulding Life Sciences Renovation project now provide state-of-the-art teaching and researching laboratories. The University also spent $15 million to complete Morse Hall, a new science and engineering building as well as $8.2 million to modernize the Memorial Union Building. This revision to the existing student union building consisted of several upgrades including top kitchen and dining facilities, two theaters, student mailboxes, lounges and meeting rooms, as well as additional retail spaces such as the University Bookstore. The University has also completed construction of the new dining facility on Main Street, Holloway Commons, as well as the renovation of the Dimond Library. In November of 1995, construction of the $27 million Recreation and Sport Complex reached completion. The Whittemore Center includes a state-of-the-art 6,500 to 7,500 seat arena for hockey, concerts and convocations, as well as a new three-level recreational sports facility within the structure which had housed the old Snively Arena. Combining the atmosphere of a small New England liberal arts college with the resources and opportunities of a major research university, the University of New Hampshire is a place where all students can find or create their own niche and succeed. While the University offers an extremely broad academic base with an inspiring faculty, it also provides students with thousands of opportunities to get involved, either through athletics, campus recreation, student life or research. The University is a dynamic community that not only challenges its members academically but also expands their understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity and leads to incredible growth as students, faculty, staff and as a community.

4 EC AC CHA MPIONSHIPS ~ 2003 EAGL CHAMPIONS

The Administration Mark Huddleston- President Dr. Mark Huddleston was named the 19th President of the University of New Hampshire by the USNH Board of Trustees on April 18, 2007. Huddleston was formerly at Ohio Wesleyan University and brings three decades of experience in public and private higher education as a faculty member, dean, and senior administrator. He began his academic career at the State University of New York-Buffalo in 1977 as an assistant professor of political science. He then joined the faculty of the University of Delaware in 1980, where he remained for the next 24 years. Dr. Huddleston chaired the Department of Political Science and International Relations and served as associate provost for international programs. He was named dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in 2001, where he managed 45 academic departments and centers with nearly 900 full-time faculty and staff, and served in that capacity until he was named president of Ohio Wesleyan University in 2004. Dr. Huddleston received his bachelor’s degree in political science from SUNY-Buffalo and received both a master’s degree and Ph.D. in political science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. An author of numerous books and articles, Dr. Huddleston has been active as a consultant for both the U.S. government and international organizations. He also served as an advisor in Bosnia on rebuilding financial and administrative infrastructures after the Dayton accords. Dr. Huddleston was born and raised in Syracuse, New York. He and his wife, Emma Bricker, have three children, Andy, Kate and Giles.

Marty Scarano - Director of Athletics

Marty Scarano is in the midst of his ninth year as Director of Athletics at the University of New Hampshire. During his tenure, Scarano has heightened national exposure for UNH athletics with facility renovations and programmatic advancement being top priorities. There have been over $8.5 million in capitol improvements since his hiring in the summer of 2000. The Paul Sweet Oval (indoor track) was completely renovated in summer 2008 to include new surfaces, lighting, painting, infrastructure upgrades and replacement of windows that existed in the original architecture. Last summer, the Cowell Stadium grass field was replaced with a $1 million Field Turf synthetic surface. Additionally, a complete renovation of Lundholm Gymnasium was undertaken. The $600,000 renovation included a new state-of-the-art bleacher system, new scoreboards, competition baskets and other aesthetic enhancements. Scarano brought about the completion of the $2.15 million Reggie Atkins Track and Field Facility in the summer of 2000. The addition of a center-ice scoreboard and message board at the Whittemore Center was completed in ‘01. In 2002, UNH athletics renovated Memorial Field along with the Bigglestone Plaza and Bremner Field on the former Upper Field. The two fields, which feature state-of-the-art synthetic turf and lighting, were built at a cost of $1.5 million apiece. In addition, construction was completed to enlarge and improve the women’s locker rooms in the UNH Field House. Two other major improvements to benefit UNH’s student-athletes have been the renovation of the Jerry Azumah Performance Center for Strength and Conditioning – which features stateof-the-art strength and conditioning equipment, new offices and design – and a complete overhaul of the Student-Athlete Academic Center. Scarano and the University are also in the midst of the planning and fundraising for a multi-purpose outdoor facility. Scarano has focused on moving UNH athletics into the national arena. To accomplish that goal, UNH has taken on the task of hosting major NCAA championships, including men’s ice hockey NCAA regionals in ‘09 and ‘11. In 2007, New Hampshire was host of the NCAA Ski Championships and the NCAA Men’s Ice Hockey Northeast Regional within a span of a month. The Wildcats also hosted a men’s hockey regional in ‘04 as well as the NCAA Women’s Ice Hockey Frozen Four in both ‘02 and ‘05. Furthermore, the 2005 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Northeast Regional took place at UNH’s Whittemore Center. Last season, the Wildcat men’s and women’s ice hockey squads, football, women’s lacrosse, women’s gymnastics, and the men’s and women’s ski teams all competed in the NCAA postseason; individual student-athletes also represented UNH in women’s cross country, and both men’s and women’s outdoor track. With all of these initiatives and accomplishments, UNH athletics has consistently been ranked in the top 90 programs among all Div. I institutions in the battle for the NACDA Directors Cup, which is well ahead of nearly all of UNH’s conference opponents. Scarano’s many accomplishments during his tenure have played a key role in UNH being named one of the Top 20 athletic departments in the country in U.S. News and World Report college athletics rankings in March 2002. UNH’s graduation rate for athletes has maintained levels at or near 90%, which puts it among the nation’s best in Div. I. UNH football returned to national prominence and was ranked No. 1 in the nation for parts of three consecutive years; they have advanced to the NCAA postseason each of the last four years with a stretch of three consecutive quarterfinal appearances. The men’s ice hockey team won the regular season Hockey East title in 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2008 and advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four in ‘02 and ‘03. The Wildcat women’s hockey team has won Hockey East regular season and tournament titles each of the past three years and advanced to the Frozen Four in both ‘06 and ‘08. The women’s gymnastics team won its first-ever EAGL title in 2003, when the event was hosted at the Whitt. The volleyball team won America East crowns in ‘02 and ‘03 and went on to the NCAA tournament in those seasons. The field hockey team made the NCAA’s in 2000, while women’s lacrosse made “The Big Dance” in 2004 and again in 2008. In 2007, Scarano was named the All-American Football Foundation Athletic Director of the Year for I-AA football in the Northeast region. He was also awarded the NACDA A.D. of the Year for the Football Championship Sub-Division. Scarano has also been an active member in the leadership of UNH’s three major conferences and was the chair of the executive committees for Atlantic 10 Football (currently the CAA), Hockey East and America East from 2003 to 2007. He also served as chair of the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Committee in 2005-2006 and 2006-2007. Scarano held the position of Athletics Director at Colorado College from July 1996 through June 2000. Prior to his stay in Colorado Springs, Scarano worked for 13 years at Colgate University, where he served as assistant director of athletics, Director of Physical Education, associate director and senior associate director. Scarano, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., is a 1978 graduate of Penn State University, where he started his athletic career as assistant ticket manager and the athletics events manager from 1980-83. Scarano holds a master’s degree in Environmental History from Colgate. He and his wife, Cydney, have two daughters, Lynden and Corey, and a son, Kyle.

Carrie Doyle

Senior Assoc. Director of Athletics for Compliance/Senior Woman Administrator

Carrie A. Doyle began her duties at The University of New Hampshire in July of 2004 as the Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance, and in August of 2006, she was promoted to Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance. In April of 2009, Doyle was named the women’s gymnastics NCAA Northeast Regional Administrator of the Year as voted upon by the head coaches. Doyle is primarily responsible for the administration of over $7 million dollars of athletic scholarships, the eligibility certification process for approximately 525 student-athletes, and the education and monitoring of 70 coaches in 20 sports. She also supervises the Academic Support and Student-Athlete Development (Life Skills) functions of the department. Doyle administers the $75,000 NCAA Special Assistance Fund and $200,000 NCAA Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund. She supervises the preparation of all National Letters of Intent as well as initial and renewal financial aid agreements. She also oversees the data collection and analysis of the NCAA’s institutional Graduation Success Rate (GSR), the Academic Progress Rate (APR), and IPEDS (Federal Graduation Rate data), which are reported annually to the NCAA and Department of Education. As the department’s Senior Woman Administrator, Doyle serves on the department’s senior management team and is responsible for the department’s compliance with Title IX and gender equity issues. Doyle was part of the effort in 2004 and 2005 that closed the University’s 10-year long monitoring case with the Department of Civil Rights, and helped to bring the University (in 2006-07) into full compliance with Title IX. Doyle’s athletics background includes a 12-year stint at the NCAA National Office from 1987-1999. She was an NCAA enforcement representative (investigator) on the association’s enforcement staff for the first seven years, and then spent five years as the Director of Student-Athlete Reinstatement. During Doyle’s seven years as an investigator, she processed 10 cases: seven cases were presented in front of the NCAA Committee on Infractions and three cases were processed by summary disposition. As the Director of Student-Athlete Reinstatement, Doyle was responsible for the administration of the reinstatement process and administrative review panel process, and was the primary staff liaison to the Division I, II and III Student-Athlete Reinstatement Subcommittees and the Division I, II and III Administrative Review Subcommittees (now called the Subcommittee for Legislative Relief). Doyle currently serves on the NCAA Division I Legislative Council (2008-2012), which is the second most powerful body in the new NCAA governance structure (along with the NCAA Leadership Council) which reports directly to the NCAA Board of Directors. She also served (2006-2009) on the Division I Amateurism Fact Finding Committee, which resolves factual issues related to amateurism eligibility center cases. Doyle did her undergraduate work (1982 - BS in Education, minor in Business Management) at The State University of New York, College at Cortland, and her graduate work (1986 MA in Athletics Administration, and 1987 - MBA) at the University of Iowa.

Athletic excellence is part of the formula for success in the collegiate experience for University of New Hampshire gymnasts. The primary measure of achievement is the student-athlete’s success in the classroom. UNH is dedicated to enhancing the student-athlete’s ability to achieve academic excellence and has one of the top graduation rates in the country. Realizing the time commitment the gymnasts give to the school, the University administers a comprehensive program of academic support services that is available to Wildcat gymnasts and all other student-athletes. This program includes the monitoring of academic progress, providing tutorial services, access to a well equipped studentathlete academic center, as well as interacting with the academic advisors within the various colleges. Serving as Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services since 1994 is Joanne Maldari, a 1990 graduate of Holy Cross who went on to earn her master’s degree in Athletic Counseling at Springfield College. She was recognized for her outstanding efforts at UNH by receiving the University’s 2001 Academic Advising Award. Before coming to Durham, Maldari served athletic counseling internships at Springfield and Central Connecticut State University. Cathy Leach assists Maldari and enters her eighth year of working directly with women’s gymnastics student-athletes. Leach was the Women’s Sports Information Director from 1985-88 and served as interim Women’s Athletic Director in the 1989-90 season before working in admissions from 1990-2001. Since 1990, the National Association of College Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) has recognized gymnasts who have excelled both in competition and the classroom. In 2009, the squad placed an impressive 11 gymnasts on the NACGC/W Scholastic All-America Team, including: Kelsey Alwin, Katie Caliendo, Helena Diodati, Diane Grey, Lindsay Kovary, Taryn LaFountain, Katie Lawrence, Danielle Reibold, Janae Sernoffsky, Keeley Smith and Chelsea Steinberg.

4 EC AC CHA MPIONSHIPS ~ 2003 EAGL CHAMPIONS

Spectator’s Guide

Vault Vaulting requires speed, quickness and explosive power. Vaults are divided into three categories; handsprings, Tsukaharas 1/4 & 1/2 turn entry, and roundoff entry. The collegiate program has its own table for the starting value of all vaults with a maximum value of 10.0. Deductions may be taken in three phases of the vault — preflight (board to the table), support (when touching table), and after-flight (distance and height) from the table to point of landing. Only one vault will be performed per competitor.

In collegiate team competition, six gymnasts perform on each of the four apparatus. The five best scores per event are added together to form the cumulative team total. At least two judges are required to evaluate an athlete’s performance. The scores are averaged to arrive at a final mark. Collegiate programs follow the rules developed for the Level 10 Junior Olympic program with some modifications. Optional routines, put together by the gymnast to express herself through the skills she may perform best, are based from a starting score of 9.5, with a possibility of an additional .5 bonus for performing greater difficulty and special connections of skills. Skills are divided into different categories (A,B,C,D,E), with E containing the highest level of difficulty. Each event has special requirements that must be met. Judges use the following categories to evaluate optional routines: • Value Parts (difficulty) 2.2 • Special Requirements 2.0 • Additive Value 0.5 • Execution, Combination & Artistry 5.3 • Total 10.0 General: Each event has defined basic requirements for choice of elements “up to the competition level.” If not met, the deduction is .10. Other deductions are taken for such things as bent arms and legs, separation of legs, incomplete turns or lack of full stretch and insufficient artistry of presentation.

Uneven Bars A b a r ro u t i n e s h o u l d b e

composed of elements from different groups: kips, cast and counter swings, underswing and clear hip circles, giant swings backward and forward, stalder circles and circle swings and hechts. Special requirements include a minimum of two bar changes, two different flight elements, minimum 2 different “C‘s” or a “B” and a “D”, one element with longitudinal axis turn of “C” value or greater and a dismount of at least “C” value. A strong routine shows elements with great amplitude, release moves, grip changes and direction changes and difficulty well-balanced throughout the routine. Pauses for concentration, intermediate swings and uncharacteristic elements are to be avoided. If a fall occurs, the gymnast must resume the exercise within 45 seconds.

Balance Beam

The beam routine should be composed of elements from the following groups: acrobatic elements with and without flight; dance elements such as turns, leaps or jumps and hops; running combinations; balance elements in a stand, sit and lying positions; and body waves. Special requirements of this event are an acrobatic series of a minimum of two flight elements - one which must be at least a C with or without hand support (both elements must start and finish on the beam), dance series of two or more elements one which must be “C’’ value or greater, a minimum of 360 degree turn, a leap or jump requiring 180 degree split (front or side) and at least a “C” dismount or a “B” preceded by and directly connected to any “C” or greater element. Performing on the four-inch beam requires precise movement and intense concentration; each wobble results in a deduction. The routine must finish under 90 seconds. If a fall occurs, a gymnast must resume the exercise within 30 seconds.

Floor Exercise

Floor exercise is a combination of dance, tumbling and acrobatics performed to music. The composition of the exercise must show harmony between gymnastics and acrobatic elements, create dynamic changes in rhythm and levels, and show versatile use of the entire floor. The routine must contain one acrobatic series with two (2) saltos (same or different), OR two (2) directly connected saltos. (If the two (2) saltos are not directly connected, they must be included in an acrobatic series, which is defined as a minimum of three acrobatic flight elements, with or without hand support) Three (3) different saltos are also required throughout the routine. A dance pass with a minimum of two (2), directly or indirectly connected leaps or jumps; one of which is a leap (one foot take-off) requiring a minimum of 180°split fulfills the dance expectations. A minimum of “C” salto as the last isolated salto or within the last salto connection completes the special requirements.
