Phil Andros ’84 • Holds three of the top ten records for single-season rebounds. • Finished his career first on the leaderboards in rebounds. • Graduated as a member of the 1,000 point club, 1,000 rebound club. • Currently ranked at 11th on the all-time scoring list. • Had a career high 36 rebounds in a single game.

Gary Battle ’99 • Currently sits in the top ten for career points, field goals, and free throw percentage. • Currently sits first for single-season three point percentage. • Scored 631 points in a single season, which is 10th all-time. • Was named an All-American and All-New England for his standout 1989- 1990 season. • Also had over 250 assists and 100 steals during his career.

Ken Coleman ’97 • Finished his career with 595 assists, which is first on the career recordboards. • Had 270 career steals, which is also first on the career recordboards. • Set singleseason records for assists and steals. • Was also a standout baseball player for New Haven, where he was named an All-American in 1998. • Finished his career with 1,229 points, which currently ranks within the top 20.

Don Dempsey ’84 • Finished his career with 931 rebounds, which is currently sixth in the all-time record books. • Had 390 rebounds in one season, which currently ranks 5th all-time. •Ended his career in the 1,000 point / 500 rebound club. •Averaged a double-double during his junior season, with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Ron Diorio ‘85 • Averaged 8.9 points and 7.4 rebounds during his career. • Finished his career shooting over 50% and qualified for NAIA national tournament in 1969. • Also played baseball for the Chargers and went 24-1 during his career. • Was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies and made 25 appearances for them over a two-year span.

Jerry Esposito ’97 • Went 51-5 during his career on the basketball team. • Was a standout baseball player and a four-year starter. • Went 98-19-1 during his career on the baseball team. Mike Grove ’15 • Finished his career with 251 career three-pointers, which is currently second in the record books. • Currently ranks 12 all-time in scoring and 8th in 3pt field goal percentage. • He was named to the All-NECC Second Team for his spectacular 1993 season when he averaged over 21 points per game. • Scored 100 3-pointers in a single season, which is the current record. • Finished his career in the 1,000 point club.

Stu Grove • Fifth head coach in program history and all-time wins leader with 253 victories during a 15-year career • 1986 New England Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year • Led New Haven to a pair of NCAA Regional appearances • Second all-time in winning percentage at 58.8 percent • NABC New England Coach of the Year, UPI New England Coach of the Year and the New England College Coach of the Year • Coached a pair of All-Americans, Gary Battle and Herb Watkins

Larry Haney ’05 • Finished his career in the 1,000 point club. • Finished his career 10th on the all-time leaderboards for assists. • Finished his career in the top-ten for free throw percentage. • Averaged over 18 points per game during his junior season. • Helped guide the 79’ team to their best record in ten years, and was named the team’s Most Valuable Player for his accomplishments.

Mel Horowitz ’96 • He was a member of the original basketball team for the university. •Averaged over 22 points per game during his career. • Averaged over 28 points per game during the 1961-1962 season. •Helped lead the team to a Southern Connecticut Small College Conference Championship. • Also played baseball for the Chargers and had 15 RBI’s, 11 stolen bases, and a .388 batting average during his best season.

Dick Jackson ’82 •He was also a member of the original basketball team for the university. • Helped lead the Chargers to a Southern New England Conference Championship in the 1963-64 season. • Missed only five games during his entire career with the Chargers. • Found his way into the 1,000 point club and currently sits 17th with 1,335 career points. • Nearly averaged a double-double for his career with 14.8 points per game and 9.5 rebounds.

Bill Jeffress ’03 •Finished his career with 1,354 points, which is currently 16th on the career list. • Finished his career in the 500 rebound club, with a total of 793 for his career. • Played a big part as a defensive anchor for his teams, with 130 steals and 172 blocks during his career. • Finished his career 5th in shooting percentage and 3rd in free throws made with 372. • Helped lead the Chargers to their first apperance in the NCAA tournament. • Blocked 71 shots in the 1986-87 season, which is currently fourth on the single-season list.

Jack Kelly ’82 •Was seen as a second coach for the team, as he was known for handling pressure and keeping his composure in big situations. •Played on the original basketball team, and averaged over 12 points a game. • Maintained good shooting percentages and free throw percentages during his career with the Chargers.

Gary Liberatore ’82 •Finished his career first in points, shots made, and free throws made. • Finished his career averaging over 31 points per game. • Scored over 35 points per game during the 1964-65 season. • Holds the top three spots for points in an individual season. • Is viewed as the greatest student-athlete in Charger history, and is currently the only one to have their number retired. • His career points record is more than 1,000 points higher than anyone else in the record books. • Holds numerous records for scoring in the New England region, including his career points.

Jack Nesbit ’91 •Finished his career with 1,113 points, which is currently 27th on the all-time records. • Finished his career with 468 assists, which is currently 3rd on the all-time list. • Helped lead the Chargers to a 86-23 record during his career with the team. • Helped guide the team to their first NCAA tournament trip. •Also helped guide the Chargers to their first NCAA tournament win in the 1967 season. • Holds the single season record for assists with 223. • Currently sits fifth all-time in career free throws.

Don Ormrod ’82 •Was the first basketball coach and first Athletic Director for the Chargers. • Finished his career with 124 wins, which is second all-time in program history. • Finished his career with the best winning percentage (.849) in program history. • Helped the Chargers win the Southern Connecticut Small College Conference three times in four years. • Went 29-2 in his final season and helped lead the Chargers to the NAIA National Championship Tournament.

Joe Pacheco ’85 • Currently ranked third all-time for career rebounds with 1,214. • Averaged 16.3 rebounds during his career with the Chargers. • Helped lead his team to the NAIA National Tournament twice. • Had a career day on Jan. 26, 1970 when he had 17 points and 26 rebounds against Cheyney State. John Raslavsky III ’97 • Was another original member of the first New Haven basketball team. • Finished his career with 847 rebounds, which is currently 8th all time. • Averaged a double-double with 13 rebounds and 15.1 points per game in his senior season. • New Haven went 92-12 during his four-year career and claimed three conference championships. • Finished his career with 715 points. • During his two seasons with the baseball team, the Chargers finished with a 49-8-1 record and advanced to the NAIA District 32 Championships both years.

Ron Riordan ’86 • Finished his career with 1,323 points, even though he only played two seasons with the Chargers. • He led the Chargers to the NAIA National Tournament in 1968-69 and, the following season, garnered All-America honors for New Haven. • His 30.3 points per game scoring average in his 47-game UNH

career ranks second in program history behind only Gary Liberatore. • Holds numerous single-season records for points, shots made, free throws made, and free throw percentage. • Currently ranked fifth on the all-time leaderboards for free-throw percentage.

Herb Watkins ’88 • Two-time All-American, including the first ever First Team AllAmerican • Closed out his career with 1,998 points, second in program history • Also among the career-leaders in field goals made (846, 2nd),

blocks (191, 2nd), steals (217, 2nd), field goal percentage (.536, 10th) and rebounds (832, 9th) • Led the team in scoring as a sophomore, junior and senior • Helped lead the team to back-to-back NCAA Division II national tournament appearances • Named New England Player of the Year as as senior when he also earned First Team All-America accolades
