STORY POINTS

1. Prospero’s enemies, his brother Antonio (the new Duke of Milan) and King Alonso, along with other members of the royal court, are sailing on a ship close to his island.

2. Prospero and Ariel conjure a storm that causes terrible crashing waves, forcing all on board into the rough seas and, with the help of magic, causes them to be washed up onto the island.

3. Prince Ferdinand has been called away by Ariel’s magic and is now nowhere to be seen. All members of the royal party fear he has been lost in the storm and set out to find him.

4. Trinculo and Stephano meet Caliban, who thinks they would be wonderful masters compared to the ‘tyrant’ he has now. He promises to serve them instead of Prospero.

5. As planned by Prospero and Ariel, Miranda and Ferdinand meet and fall in love at first sight. Prospero is secretly happy but must make Ferdinand work to earn his daughter’s hand in marriage.

6. Caliban persuades Stephano to kill Prospero and become king of the island. On their way to kill Prospero, Stephano, Trinculo and Caliban are chased by spirit dogs.

7. Ariel puts the noblemen in a trance and leads them to Prospero. They must now apologise for everything they have done.

8. Prospero forgives his enemies, reunites King Alonso with his son Prince Ferdinand, who now has a future bride, Miranda, and everyone is joyful.

9. Prospero sets Ariel free.

10. They all set sail for Milan for the wedding of Miranda and Ferdinand and so that Prospero can be Duke again... leaving Caliban alone on his island once more.
