Your to do list

Your first few weeks at university may seem a little daunting, with lots of new people to meet, and things to learn. Here’s some words of wisdom from some of our current students.

Laura Tamara, SU Co-President

What are your words of wisdom for new, firstyear students?

Find your balance. Work hard on your studies and utilise the learning facilities. Also enjoy opportunities to socialise and have fun on campus. Engage, connect and have fun.

Quadri Yusuf, SU Co-President

What are your words of wisdom for new, firstyear students?

The key to success is consistency and never underestimate the power of networking.

Judy Vincent, Business Administration (HRM) MBA

What is your favourite thing about the University?

The fact that the library is open 24/7. I work part-time, so I often have to do my work during unsocialable hours. The fact that there is library or security staff in the library 24/7 is also comforting just in case you need them.

What are your words of wisdom for new, first-year students?

Try not to worry because you will have an amazing time! And if you do have spare time join a club or society - it’s a great opportunity to make friends.

Andre Lionel Missoka Bekey, International Business MSc

What is your favourite thing about the University?

I really like the cosmopolitan environment that the University provides, and the way the timetable is structured so you have time to get involved in extra activities.

What is your favourite memory from your first year?

Probably meeting everyone, and making a lot of new friends. Luton was also new to me, so I had lots of things to see and discover.
