BEFORE WE GET STARTED… FINDING YOUR WAY Our campus is divided into different coloured zones to make it easy to navigate. Throughout the programme, we’ve put coloured glints next to each activity so you know which zone you need to go to. And to make it even easier for you on the Open Day, we’ve included a pull-out map at the front of this programme, with all the zones clearly marked. Don’t worry, if you need extra help, you’ll find Information Point gazebos dotted all over campus. Staffed by our students, they’ll be able to point you in the right direction. CHECKING IN ON THE DAY When you arrive, you’ll need to register with us in the Students’ Union by scanning your QR code. If you forget your QR code, don’t worry – we can still check you in. You can also register at any of the Information Points around campus.

WELCOME AREA AND INFO ZONE OPEN FROM 8.30AM–4.00PM MEDICINE, NURSING AND RELATED COURSES If you’re coming to talk to us about Medicine, Midwifery, Nursing, Operating Department Practice or Paramedic Science, you’ll need to head to the Purple Zone. Just 15 minutes away, you can take a shuttle bus from outside The Enterprise Centre (Orange Zone) between 9.00am and 4.00pm. We can also provide accessible transport if required – simply let us know at the Information Point outside Congregation Hall (map reference L28) in the Pink Zone. FOOD AND DRINK In need of refreshment? You’ll find a list of all of our catering outlets and their opening times on page 10. LUGGAGE You can leave any luggage with us for the day – just ask a member of staff at the welcome area (map reference K27). FIRST AID In case of emergency, you’ll find a St John Ambulance first aid point in the Students’ Union.

THIS IS STUDENT LIFE

#UEAOPENDAY

THE UEA EXPERIENCE Select UEA and you’re choosing more than a course: you’re choosing a complete university experience. Our diverse student community creates a unique and lively atmosphere, and we have over 250 clubs and societies, allowing you to pursue your passions and interests, or discover new ones. And we host more than 50 live gigs a year at the Nick Rayns LCR, including both established and up-and-coming bands. Past acts include Haim, Bastille, Stormzy and Ed Sheeran. When you want to explore further afield, Norwich is just a short bus ride from campus. Small yet vibrant with much more to it than first meets the eye, Norwich is an historic city that buzzes with life, and is full of independent shops and cafes. Explore it by day then, if you’re after a big night out, look no further than the clubs in the cultural quarter in the centre of the city. Fancy a quieter evening? Catch up with friends in one of the many cosy pubs or trendy bars, or take a trip to the cinema, theatre or bowling alley.

DON’T FORGET TO USE YOUR FREE BUS TICKETS TO EXPLORE NORWICH. MORE DETAILS ARE IN YOUR CHECK IN EMAIL.

MULTIFAITH CENTRE Whether you are of a particular faith or not, you’ll be welcomed into the safe and respectful environment of our Multifaith Centre. With chaplains and faith advisers representing most world faiths, the Centre offers a range of worship facilities enabling you to explore your beliefs. NIGHTLINE Feeling lost, stressed, confused or lonely? Nightline is a confidential listening and advice service provided by students for students, every night during UEA’s term time. Our student volunteers can provide information about local facilities, events and welfare matters, and offer a friendly ear if you need someone to talk to. SECURITY Your safety and sense of security is of paramount importance to us, so our security team is on hand to help 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The team is based in our dedicated Security Lodge, and all members are fully trained in first aid, fire procedures, and health and safety. If you have an urgent question or concern, they’re just a phone call away and on campus 24/7 for advice and support. STUDENT SUPPORT We want you to have the best possible experience if you choose to study at UEA, so – whatever your issue – our Student Support Service is here to help. Whether you need someone to lean on in a crisis, help meeting a goal, or you’re simply stuck trying to fill out a form, our team will make sure you feel completely supported. Our trained advisers can help with personal problems, disability support, mental health issues, financial worries, specific learning difficulties and offer support for international students. And if you need advice on ways to study more effectively and improve your work, our Learning Enhancement Team, an integral element of our Student Support Service, is here to help. STUDENTS’ UNION (SU) The SU provides our students with a wide range of support and services, from advice and employment, to extracurricular activities. And once you join UEA, you automatically become a member of the SU and have access to everything it has to offer. The SU Advice Workers can provide impartial advice on any academic, welfare and housing issues. Looking for off-campus accommodation? The SU has its own housing team – Home Run – who’ll be happy to help. Looking for employment on campus? The SU manages UEA’s shops, bars and entertainment venues. Just call in to find out what openings they have. Beyond services and support, the SU is responsible for running more than 250 clubs and societies. So if you want to pursue an existing favourite hobby, find a new one, or you’re simply looking for ways to meet people, the SU is a great place to start. SAINSBURY CENTRE FOR VISUAL ARTS (SCVA) If you have a love of art, you may well find yourself perusing the collections at the SCVA on a regular basis. Thanks to the support of Sir Robert and Lady Sainsbury, the SCVA is one of the most prominent art galleries in the UK, and the first public building designed by the world-renowned architect Norman Foster. It houses some of the most remarkable works of art in the country, with artefacts spanning more than 5,000 years of human creativity, and its permanent exhibition features work by artists including Degas, Francis Bacon and Henry Moore.
