BEFORE WE GET STARTED… FINDING YOUR WAY Our campus is divided into different coloured zones to make it easy to navigate. Throughout the programme, we’ve put coloured glints next to each activity so you know which zone you need to go to. And to make it even easier for you on the Open Day, we’ve included a pull-out map at the front of this programme, with all the zones clearly marked. Don’t worry, if you need extra help, you’ll find Information Point gazebos dotted all over campus. Staffed by our students, they’ll be able to point you in the right direction. CHECKING IN ON THE DAY When you arrive, you’ll need to register with us in Congregation Hall, room 01.19 by scanning your QR code. If you forget your QR code, don’t worry – we can still check you in.
WELCOME AREA AND INFO ZONE OPEN FROM 8.30AM–4.00PM MEDICINE, NURSING AND RELATED COURSES

THE UEA EXPERIENCE Select UEA and you’re choosing more than a course: you’re choosing a complete university experience. Our diverse student community creates a unique and lively atmosphere, and we have over 250 clubs and societies, allowing you to pursue your passions and interests, or discover new ones. And we host more than 50 live gigs a year at the Nick Rayns LCR, including both established and up-and-coming bands. Past acts include Haim, Bastille, Stormzy and Ed Sheeran. When you want to explore further afield, the centre of Norwich is just a short bus ride from campus. Small yet vibrant with much more to it than first meets the eye, Norwich is an historic city that buzzes with life, and is full of independent shops and cafes. Explore it by day then, if you’re after a big night out, look no further than the clubs in the cultural quarter in the centre of the city. Fancy a quieter evening? Catch up with friends in one of the many cosy pubs or trendy bars, or take a trip to the cinema, theatre or bowling alley.

MULTIFAITH CENTRE Whether you are of a particular faith or not, you’ll be welcomed into the safe and respectful environment of our Multifaith Centre. With chaplains and faith advisers representing most world faiths, the Centre offers a range of worship facilities enabling you to explore your beliefs. NIGHTLINE Feeling lost, stressed, confused or lonely? Nightline is a confidential listening service provided by students for students, every night during UEA’s term time from 8pm till 8am. Our student volunteers offer a friendly ear if you need someone to talk to face to face, on the phone, by text, Skype or instant messenger. SECURITY Your safety and sense of security is of paramount importance to us, so our security team is on hand to help 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The team is based in our dedicated Security Lodge, and all members are fully trained in first aid, fire procedures, and health and safety. If you have an urgent question or concern, they’re just a phone call away and on campus 24/7 for advice and support. STUDENT SUPPORT We want you to have the best possible experience if you choose to study at UEA, so – whatever your issue – our Student Support Service is here to help. STUDENTS’ UNION (SU)
SPORTSPARK
The SU provides our students with a wide range of support and services, from advice and employment, to extracurricular activities. And once you join UEA, you automatically become a member of the SU and have access to everything it has to offer.
Whether you already have a love of sport or want to use your time at uni to get fit and active, Sportspark offers plenty of opportunities to get involved in recreational and health promoting activities.
The SU Advice Workers can provide impartial advice on any academic, welfare and housing issues. Looking for off-campus accommodation? The SU has its own housing team – Home Run – who’ll be happy to help. Looking for employment on campus? The SU manages UEA’s shops, bars and entertainment venues. Just call in to find out what openings they have. Beyond services and support, the SU is responsible for running more than 250 clubs and societies. So if you want to pursue an existing favourite hobby, find a new one, or you’re simply looking for ways to meet people, the SU is a great place to start. THE SAINSBURY CENTRE If you have a love of art, you may well find yourself perusing the collections at the Sainsbury Centre on a regular basis. Thanks to the support of Sir Robert and Lady Sainsbury, the Sainsbury Centre is one of the most prominent art galleries in the UK, and the first public building designed by the world-renowned architect Norman Foster. It houses some of the most remarkable works of art in the country, with artefacts spanning more than 5,000 years of human creativity, and its permanent exhibition features work by artists including Degas, Francis Bacon and Henry Moore. MUSIC CENTRE The Music Centre is open to all, regardless of subject. We have 8 Practice Rooms – all with pianos – and a large rehearsal space. Between friendly, student-led groups and ambitious, auditioned (but still friendly) ensembles we give over 40 performances a year, both on campus and in Norwich. Music making at UEA mixes people from across the University and beyond and we like to meet those wanting to explore for the first time as well as experienced musicians.
The best equipped sports centre in the region, Sportspark is also one of only three university sports centres in the country to be rated excellent in a national award supported by Sport England (Quest 2018). Its facilities include an Olympic-sized swimming pool, fitness suites, gymnastics and aerobics centres, a climbing wall, an athletics track, and a range of courts and pitches. CAREERCENTRAL At UEA we really care about your future employability so CareerCentral, our dedicated careers service, is located at the heart of our campus and the team there is on hand to help you throughout your studies. Giving you access to impartial advice and guidance on career options and work experience, it also hosts events featuring UEA alumni, and networking and panel events with potential employers from a wide range of sectors. CareerCentral can provide you with access to online resources and a database of job vacancies. What’s more, the team can assist you with CV and covering letter writing, and help you master interview skills. TEACHING AND RESEARCH We want to ensure you achieve your full potential at UEA, so we employ a range of teaching styles to keep you interested and inspire you. You’ll benefit from research-led teaching with world-class academics, helping to shape your studies with the latest thinking, through a combination of hands-on classes, real-world research and the latest exciting projects. You’ll also be part of a multi-cultural community and have access to first-rate facilities, Europe’s largest collaborative research site, and a range of diverse courses. Just a few of the many reasons we’re ranked in the UK top 15 universities (The Times/Sunday Times 2019) and our teaching was rated gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework 2017-20. LIBRARY Bit of a night owl? Our Library is open 24 hours a day and provides more than 700 study spaces and 370+ computers. You’ll have access to more than 800,000 books and journals, and 15,000+ new titles are added every year. And if you’re travelling, you’ll still have access to 400,000 e-books and 75,000 e-journals, anywhere in the world. The Library also provides free Microsoft Office 365, which you can download to your computer, with free cloud storage with global access. FREE WIFI You’ll have access to free WiFi wherever you are on campus.

FINANCE
BURSARIES
There are lots of things to think about when you go to uni and student finance is one of them. All the jargon might sound complicated but at UEA we don’t think it needs to be. Here, we’ve compiled some helpful info about fees, bursaries, and scholarships.
Bursaries are a form of means-tested, non-repayable support from UEA. You don’t need to apply for our bursary support as it’s awarded automatically, using the household income information we receive from Student Finance England. If you’re eligible, we’ll contact you from your course start date. Bursaries cannot be combined, but – if eligible – you can receive both a bursary and a scholarship.
To find out more visit www.uea.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/finance TRAVEL GRANTS If you study abroad for part of your degree, and are eligible for a maintenance loan, you will continue to get this to cover living costs whilst you’re away. If you’re attending a clinical placement in the UK or studying abroad as part of your course, you’ll also have access to Travel Grants, which are there to help you with travel costs and reasonable travel expenses during the academic year.
DON’T BE FAZED BY FEES TUITION FEES FOR MOST UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES CAN TOTAL UP TO A MAXIMUM OF
If you’re eligible for a bursary, you can choose to receive your payment in one of three ways: – Full bursary amount as a fee waiver (default option) – Full bursary amount as a university accommodation discount – Full bursary amount in cash. For more details on bursaries visit www.uea.ac.uk/bursaries
