HANDY TIPS

TUESDAY 12 OCTOBER

Police Registration

A student’s view Advice from our current students: nn Make

use of what’s available, like ‘Languages for All’. Look for opportunities.

nn Check

your emails regularly!

nn Have

a plan – try to think what you want to get out of University. Set yourself goals which will assist you in your future career.

nn After

a lecture or seminar, it’s a good idea to go over the material straight away while it’s still fresh in your mind. This helps a lot when the time comes to revise.

nn Do

some career research and look into modules that are available for your course.

nn It

is very important when you go for a job that you can present yourself as a wellrounded person. You can’t achieve that without stepping out of your comfort zone of academic study.

nn Living nn My

at University Square was a good experience.

housemates and I have become close friends.

TIP OF THE DAY! Don’t forget your calculator! If you’re planning on purchasing a calculator for your studies, we recommend the following models; Casio FX-83GT PLUS or Casio FX-85GT PLUS, as these are the only two that are permissible in examinations.

Download our Pocket Essex app and stay up to date with all the latest news and events happening on campus. You can also visit our What’s on guide at: www.essex.ac.uk/events/

As with any new environment, it might take you a little while to get your bearings, but don’t worry! Note that inside University buildings, room numbers beginning with GB are in The Gateway Building, and room numbers beginning with TF are in The Forum. The first number denotes the floor – so TF.2.15 is located on the second floor of The Forum (room 15). Information for students aged under 18 at the start of your course If you’re under 18, you must arrive on time and attend all your Welcome events. There will be opportunities for you to ask any questions you have, and to meet relevant staff in your department. You’ll be given important information about your time at Essex. If you’re unsure about which events to go to please email: support-sc@essex.ac.uk
