King’s

Award

The University of Hertfordshire has been honoured with a King’s Award for Enterprise for its highly effective internationalisation strategy.

Considered the country’s highest business accolade and approved by both the Prime Minister and The King, the University was recognised for its excellence in international trade, winning the King’s Award for International Trade for Outstanding Continuous Growth in overseas sales over the last six years.

The only university to be awarded a King’s Award for Enterprise this year, Herts was recognised for how it has developed and grown its internationalisation strategy, which has resulted in a booming international community at its Hertfordshire campus, and an extensive overseas partner network delivering the University’s education.

Scholarships and fees

Tuition fees

Like every other UK university, we charge tuition fees for our courses. These are different for UK and overseas students. Our standard tuition fees are based on full-time courses taught on campus.

For the 2025 intake the cost of most standard courses for overseas students will be:

• £15,965 per year for undergraduate

• £17,250 - £19,800 per year for postgraduate taught

There are set liability dates throughout the academic year that students need to pay a percentage of their tuition by.

Deposits and discounts

You’ll be required to pay a minimum £5,000 deposit to secure your place with us. This goes towards your first year tuition fees. If you’re able to pay for the whole year in full when you enrol, we’ll give you a £1,000 discount off your tuition fees.

International scholarships

Every year we offer a limited number of scholarships to international students to make studying with us more affordable. Scholarships are available for most of our courses and go towards your first-year tuition fees. In previous intakes, applicants have been awarded up to £4,000.

Pre-sessional English

We offer Pre-sessional English courses for applicants who have not quite reached the IELTS level required for their degree course.

These courses help you to develop your academic language and study skills so that you can continue your education effectively at either undergraduate or postgraduate level.

Successful completion of the course means that you will not need to take another IELTS exam.

Applying to Herts

Alongside the application form, you will also be required to provide the following:

• A signed and recently dated academic or workplace reference

• A personal statement explaining why you wish to study in the UK; specifically at Hertfordshire; and why you have chosen your selected course. Additionally, describe how this aligns with your career aspirations

• A scan of your passport photo page

• A scan of all of your academic qualifications

• A scan of your English language qualification
