NEW 3D PRINTER Thanks to a capital grant from Ipswich Borough Council, the University of Suffolk is delighted to have installed a Connex3 Objet500 and a F370 Printer. The F370 FDM printer allows objects to be printed with far more complexity than was originally possible on the domestic printers currently housed in the suite. As well as increased complexity it will also offer a wider range of materials, both solid and flexible. TheConnex3 Objet500 Polyjet printer is a new type of technology to the suite. A printer of this quality will allow us to print in hard, flexible, dental and medical grade plastics. The applications of this printer open up the opportunity for new businesses and industries to become involved with us. If you would like to be invited to our 3D printing events, please email 3dprinting@uos.ac.uk

Welcome to Pre-registration Nursing Apprenticeships

Eva Harris Cooper (Acting Course Leader for Adult Nursing Degree Apprenticeships)

Leanne Logan-Smith (Associate Lecturer in Health Apprenticeships)

“The Nursing Apprenticeship Degree offered by the School of Health Sciences, continues to be an exciting opportunity for me as Acting Course Leader and Enhanced Personal Tutor. I have the privilege of working very closely with students, colleagues, mentors and practice education teams to develop the delivery of this programme. In the past year we have had a new two-year cohort as well as a fouryear cohort, both are progressing well with their studies. Our Feb 18 cohort are nearing completion of their programme and currently working on their service improvement projects; a chance for them to contribute to creativity and innovation in practice.”

“As a new member of the team, I have been supporting students within the Associate Lecturer role.  I regularly visit practice settings to provide support to mentors and students in the clinical environment. The role involves advising students regarding academic work and effective management of self-directed learning.  The feedback from Feb 19 cohort highlighted how much they valued the induction week within the University and following this, students have already demonstrated good examples of development of knowledge and skills in their Apprenticeship role.  The Apprenticeship Degree offers a different pathway into Nursing and I look forward to my continued work on this programme.”
