Penn Highlands Mon Valley Breast Surgeon Receives Regional Honor
Natalie Furgiuele, MD, FACS, a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in breast surgery at Penn Highlands Mon Valley, has been recognized with the 2023 Cribs for Kids Women of Achievement Award. The award was presented to her at the 16th Annual Women of Achievement Awards Dinner, on March 2, in Pittsburgh.
Dr. Furgiuele has been in surgical practice since 1986 and breast surgery practice since 1993. She enjoys a reputation throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania for combining a high level of medical and surgical expertise with warmth, deep concern and a passion for educating her patients and the community. She frequently gives public presentations on breast cancer awareness to public school systems throughout the region. In addition, she has served as an advisor for the American Cancer Society's "Reach for Recovery" program.

Adamo, Regional Market President -- Southwestern Region and President of Penn Highlands Mon Valley. “She is truly a skilled surgeon who is beloved by her patients for her genuine compassion. This recognition is well deserved.”
For more than 15 years, Cribs for Kids has been honoring the most outstanding women in Western Pennsylvania. The Women of Achievement Award recognizes women who have demonstrated a commitment to making a difference in their community and workplace. Honorees represent diverse cultures, roles and accomplishments, all of whom have been committed to the betterment of society, excellence in their professional field or outstanding accomplishments for the advancement of women. Dr. Furgiuele was nominated by the organization's selection committee of community leaders, sponsors, Cribs for Kids supporters and past recipients of the Women of Achievement award.
Cribs for Kids® is a national infant safe-sleep education program that helps to reduce the risk of injury and death of infants due to accidental suffocation, asphyxia or undetermined causes in unsafe sleeping environments. Since 1998, Cribs for Kids® has been making an impact on reducing the rate of infant sleep-related deaths by educating parents and caregivers on the importance of practicing safe sleep for their babies and by providing portable cribs to families who, otherwise, cannot afford a safe place for their babies to sleep.
