FESTIVAL AND CAR SHOW -
Epiphany Church, located at 44 Pennsylvania Blvd. in Monessen will be holding their Festival and Car Show August 4 and 5. Both days of the event will include Ethnic food, Pierogies, Picnic food, Bake Sale, Basket Auction, Games, and a 1950s theme. On Friday, August 4 activities will be from 4:00PM – 9:00PM, and include a musical performance from Street Level Band. On Saturday, August 5, activities will be held from 12 noon till 10:00 PM. Various activities and events are scheduled, including a balloon artist, Elvis Impersonator, American Pie Oldies, and Fireworks at 9:30 PM (weather permitting). The Car Show will be held August 5 from 12 noon to 4:00PM. Cost is $10 per entry, with participants picking the top 3 trophy winners. Come and enjoy a day of shopping at the West Elizabeth community-wide yard sale on Saturday, August 5, from 9:00AM – 2:00PM. This will include food trucks, along with multiple families selling handmade crafts, Partylite Candles, household items, children’s toys & clothes, glassware, baked goods, and more! Shoppers can pick up a list of addresses of participating homes at the municipal building at 800 Fourth Street.

AUGUST FUN FEST - Cedar Creek
Park in Belle Vernon, Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 10:00am to 6:00pm. This festival features great food, fun entertainment, and lots of children’s inflatables and amusements. Admission and parking are free to the public. Headlining this year’s August Fun Fest are Magic Moments, performing at the amphitheater at 11:00am and 1:00pm. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Car Cruise, with over 300 antiques, hot rods, modifieds, stock cars, and commercials. No motorcycles are permitted. The show features all types of cars up to 2023 models and has been highlighted in Hot Rod News magazine. Show cars may enter beginning at 9:00am. Exotic Edventures, educating and entertaining visitors with educational animal presentations about rescued exotic animals. Show times are 12:00pm, 2:00pm, and 4:00pm. Amusements throughout the day, such as inflatables, bounce houses, obstacle courses, a rock climbing wall, petting zoo, kiddie train rides, NERF battlefield course, and more. Other attractions include an arts and crafts marketplace with over 40 vendors and craftsmen, a flea market, bingo, and various group demonstrations. The Mid-Mon Valley Model Railroad Club will be displaying their modular train layout at Pavilion 16. This display will depict the Mid-Mon Valley area and some of the important industries throughout history. SOUTH HILLS COIN CLUB
MEETING - The monthly meeting of the South Hills Coin Club will be held Tuesday evening August 8, at 7:30 PM at the Bethel Park municipal building located at 5100 West Library Ave. in Bethel Park. MUSIC FESTIVAL - The 10th Annual Raise Your Voice Festival will be held on August 19, from Noon7pm. The all day, free event will be held on August 19, 2023 from Noon7pm at Monessen City Park. The event is presented by the Monessen Amphitheater Committee. The purpose of the event is to highlight local talent and businesses, and to commemorate Monessen's 125th Anniversary. Throughout the day, there will be vendors, food, activities and an all-day concert. The popular Pittsburgh band Punchline will headline the concert, along with local bands such as, Another Cheetah, Johnny Mase, String Theory, and many more.

“BOATS ON THE RIVER” PRESENTATION - Who would not enjoy a lovely boat ride down the Mon or up the Ohio River this summer? “Boats on the River” presented by Norene Beatty at 7:00 PM August 23 in the Community Rooms of the Jefferson Hills Borough Building might provide just the vicarious experience desired. Inspired by letters written by early Pittsburgh settler James O’Hara who was purchasing a sailing ship, Beatty tried to find out everything she could about the many boats that once graced the Ohio River. The result is the fascinating free program that she will present at the West Jefferson Hills Historical Society general meeting in August. Society and community members alike are invited to attend this program about a historical perspective of the Ohio River through the boats that sailed upon it.
