Peters Creek Historical Society Program on “Coins That Talk”

By Charlotte Hopkins

Narrow Way Ministries, of Calvary Chapel South Pittsburgh (CCSP), passionately embarked on a community-driven mission recently to beautify and restore the 7th Street Park in West Elizabeth.

With a strong sense of purpose and commitment, they devoted their time to cleaning up the park, making it shine with renewed energy. Their selfless efforts demonstrated their values of compassion and service, leaving a positive impact on the community they served. Through their action, they exemplified the essence of Christian principles, spreading hope and kindness to all who visit the revitalized park.

Pastor Tim Green stated, “They wanted to show the love of Jesus to the community by doing something practical.” Councilwoman Janet Isaacs expressed her delight in the work by Narrow Way. “They cleaned the park, touched up on paint, and even built a new park bench. They each had a job to do. It was so regimented. They laughed and they sang. It really was awesome. Everyone did a great job!”

"Coins That Talk and The Stories They Tell" will be the featured program for the Peters Creek Historical Society on Monday, August 28, 7:30 PM. Hear about coins that have a memory and were present at some historical event or carried in the pocket of someone significant! Is this a coin salvaged from the battlefield of the Little Big Horn or was this a coin found in the pocket of President Kennedy in Dallas or Neil Armstrong as he took one small step for man, one great leap for mankind. Join our guest speaker, Mr Ben Costello, coin collector, member and chair of the 1715 Society, whose mission is to identify and to do archival research on items recovered from a fleet of ships sunk in 20 feet of water off the Florida coast. "Coins That Talk and the Stories They Tell" is sure to be an engaging and a fascinating evening of history that speaks to us! The program will be held at Wrights United Methodist Church, 788 Venetia Road, in Venetia. The public is welcome. Log into peterscreekhistoricalsociety.org for more information on the society and its headquarters, the Enoch Wright House and log cabin.

Docents will open the door for tours of the Enoch Wright House on Sunday, August 13 and 27 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and Tuesday, August 15 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.
