‘Boats on the River’ West Jefferson Hills Historical Society Presentation Set for Aug. 23

Who would not enjoy a lovely boat ride down the Mon or up the Ohio River this summer? “Boats on the River” presented by Norene Beatty at 7:00 PM August 23 in the Community Rooms of the Jefferson Hills Borough Building might provide just the vicarious experience desired.

Inspired by letters written by early Pittsburgh settler James O’Hara who was purchasing a sailing ship, Beatty tried to find out everything she could about the many boats that once graced the Ohio River. The result is the fascinating free program that she will present at the West Jefferson Hills Historical Society general meeting in August. Society and community members alike are invited to attend this program about a historical perspective of the Ohio River through the boats that sailed upon it.
