West Jefferson Hills Historical Society to Present WWII Program

With Memorial Day right around the corner, the West Jefferson Hills Historical Society will present a special World War II program at its May meeting. Author Todd DePastino will relate the incredible story of Operation Pastorius, an ambitious German attempt to sabotage American industry and transportation, including the Horseshoe Curve. Landing eight saboteurs on Long Island and Florida from two U-boats, the operation was a comedy of errors, but it reveals much about the characters of the two countries at war. Both society and community members are invited to hear this program on a little-known WWII tale at the WJHHS May meeting, 7:00 P.M. on May 24 in the Community Rooms of the Jefferson Hills Borough Building.
