Camp Invention is returning to Pleasant Hills Middle School for a weeklong STEM Summer Camp from June 19-23. The camp is open to all greater Pittsburgh area students entering kindergarten through sixth grade this fall.

Camp Invention is a great opportunity for younger students to be creative and participate in hands-on challenges working with emerging technologies. This year’s program is designed to inspire confidence and creativity in STEM for the campers.

Certified local educators will lead the campers in fun, collaborative problem- solving activities. The camp runs from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. the week of June 1923 at PHMS.

The discount code for early enrollment (WONDER15) expires May 17. Additional discounts are available if multiple siblings attend the camp. Water Pollution Poster Contest Winners Announced

At the March 15, 2023 Public Education and Outreach Program on Storm Water Impacts, the Rostraver Township Board of Commissioners hosted a pizza party and awards presentation for fourth graders at Marion Elementary and Rostraver Elementary.

In December and January, Rostraver Township staff visited both elementary schools and gave presentations on water pollution and invited the students to submit a poster on ways they can reduce water pollution.

The poster contest is an annual part of Rostraver Township’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Program. It is a program regulated by the EPA and DEP to address water pollution. The students were tasked with creating posters to show simple things they can do in their daily lives to limit pollution ending up in our waterways like the Monongahela and Youghiogheny River.

Rostraver Township received 68 poster entries. The following winners each received certificates of recognition from the Rostraver Township

Board of Commissioners, gift certificates to Bill’s Golfland, and copies of their winning posters. The winning posters can be found on display at the

Rostraver Township Municipal Building, the Rostraver Township Public Library, Rostraver Elementary School and Marion Elementary School. The Rostraver Township Board of Commissioners also thanked Mrs. Barkey, Mrs. Murphy, and parents/guardians at the meeting for encouraging the students.
