Meet Mason

Motto

At George Mason University, our motto is Freedom and Learning.

These powerful words are the driving force behind our mission - to provide a memorable and unique experience to individuals and groups from around the world when they gather at one of our beautiful Northern Virginia campuses for a conference or event.

We invite you to experience a university second to none with its location, facilities and services, and the freedom to learn.

Location

From getting here to being here, Mason offers access to all the conveniences of the perfect event location in the thriving National Capital Region, anchored by Washington D.C. and surrounded by the commerce and convenience of Northern Virginia.

Located just 17 miles from the US Capitol, our park-like campus sits on the edge of the City of Fairfax. With over 677 acres of beautiful grounds, our campus setting is perfect for groups looking for the conveniences of a cosmopolitan city with a safe, serene, and natural backdrop for their event.

Shopping, dining, and entertainment abound in and around our campus. From quaint Old Town Fairfax to renowned Tysons Corner Center and Tysons Galleria, there are options for everyone.

Access

The sites of Washington DC are easily accessible by Metro or through pre-arranged group transportation from campus. Monuments, museums, and more await you.

Northern Virginia has plenty to see and do, from outdoor recreation and parks, like Great Falls National Park, to an abundance of museums and historical sites.

Two airports serve Fairfax and Northern Virginia. Convenient Dulles International Airport is served by over forty airlines with direct flights to over 145 destinations worldwide. Reagan National Airport is easily accessible by the Metro subway rail system and is served by all major airlines with direct flights to 99 destinations in North America.

Mason can be easily reached from points north, south, east, and west via the country’s most often-traveled highway, I-95, and is just a short journey off the I-495 Capital Beltway.

Amtrak has hundreds of trains into Washington DC’s Union Station where attendees can take a variety of transportation options to the campus. The DC Metro has a station in close proximity to the Mason campus. Transportation services are available to get you from the Metro station to campus via scheduled campus transportation, Uber, Lyft, and local taxi services.

Dining Options

Mason offers event planners a wide array of food and beverage offerings. Many planners harken back to a time when people went in mass to a “caf” and dined on large quantities of unhealthy foods, seated at long tables surrounded by drab décor. At Mason, we have turned these misperceptions upside down!

From incredible farm fresh ingredients, to healthy choices and decadent desserts, there is something for everyone—all in attractive, comfortable, and engagement-oriented spaces. And the options do not end with our Dining Halls. Our catering is extraordinary, filled with selections for every budget! In addition, we have food courts with options from almost every type of cuisine as well as great casual dining including Panera, Chipotle, and Panda Express.

We also are the benchmark for in-room or small gathering delivery with our robots. Yes, robots! At any given time as you stroll the campus, you will see our Starship Technology robots patiently giving way to pedestrians and obeying every crosswalk regulation to bring you a morning coffee or a late night pizza!
