Located at Charlesworth Bay in Coffs Harbour, the NMSC sits on the edge of the beautiful Solitary Islands Marine Park. The Solitary Islands have a unique range of tropical and temperate habitats, making a perfect environment for marine research and education programs. In fact, the NMSC is one of the world’s best-located facilities for studying coastal and marine habitats and their inhabitants.
Students benefit from state-of-the-art teaching facilities, climate-controlled laboratories, and aquaculture facilities including a commercial hatchery, a public aquarium and a world-class flowthrough sea water system. Teaching and research at the NMSC equip a new generation of marine scientists with the knowledge and skills to address marine sustainability issues and develop our understanding of marine and coastal life.
