All you want to do is ensure no one goes to bed hungry • children live their lives
free of abuse • justice is available to all • people have a warm home • medical needs are met • every animal
finds their forever home • art, song and creativity
are infused in the fabric of our community • no one is bullied • our rivers and air are clean...
but your reality is
Do More with less.
and “just get some volunteers to do it.”
And even if
volunteer
coordinator
was the only
hat you wore you would still wish someone could help spread the word about your cause, find more people who care and keep them once they join you. Hands On Asheville-Buncombe the volunteer center of United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County
Visibility • Promotion • People • resources Time and time again we see that volunteers end up becoming the greatest champions of an organization or cause. On a practical level, bringing in a volunteer can help you accomplish a specific and real task. But getting the word out about your volunteer opportunities also lets the greater community understand your work and the issues you address, all the while allowing you to recruit new champions.
Our Visibility Will Get You Visibility We get the word out about volunteer projects in our community. Some key stats about our reach: Newsletter Each month our newsletter is sent out to 3,200 people. Hands On Asheville-Buncombe
s • Professional Development • Retention Day of Caring
This is the largest, one-day volunteer effort in our community. Our access to companies and our volunteer coordination brings more than 1,000 people to your sites to engage in projects big and small. A few key facts:
• Day of Caring is open to Premium Partners. • 97% of volunteers said they had a positive experience and would sign up to volunteer with the same nonprofit again.
• 100% of company coordinators said they have a positive experience and would sign up with the same nonprofit again.
• For the last several years we’ve arranged numerous “bigger than normal”
projects that infused company resources and dollars that would not have happened otherwise - including installation of drainage ditches and significant landscaping materials.
Let’s be honest. It’s the rare occurrence when the only task a Volunteer Coordinator has is volunteer coordination. Usually this role is an add-on component to the Fundraiser/Communications/Intake or Program Coordinator tasks (or all of the above).
