Sunday Service Sermon: Pastor Tosin Okojie

Keep Thyself In The Fear Of
God Alone “The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding” – Job 28 v 28 NLT. Fear is an innate emotion that is generally built into our human nature. Every person is predisposed to one type of fear or another. Scientists and Psychologists have even come up with over a hundred different types of phobias that people are prone to suffer from. In these present times, there is so much to keep one in fear; from the pandemic of the coronavirus, to stock market crashing, borders closing, etc. As Christians, we are commanded not to have any fear, save the fear of God. Nothing! Not even the plague of the virus, can stand against those who put their trust in the Lord. The Psalmist tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Psalm 111 v 10). Job, in his search for wisdom, also further buttresses this by saying that to fear God is wisdom and to shun evil is understanding. Even the wisest man that is professed to have ever lived, after contemplating what life is all about and realizing that all is vanity and a chasing after the wind, finally did come to the conclusion that the end of the matter is this; to fear God and keep His commandments (Ecclesiastes 12 v 13). The Lord reveals His secrets to those who fear Him (Psalm 25 v 14). Nothing happens in this world without the consent of the Lord. So, as there may be a lot of confusion and panic given all that is going on around us, we that fear the Lord will remain calm, as the Lord begins to make known to us what His plan and purpose for us is. More so, we can hang on the promise of the Lord who tells us not to fear, for He is with us; not to be dismayed, for He is our God (Isaiah 41 v 10). Even better, His Son has said that He will be with us even to the end of age (Matthew 28 v 20). How good and comforting it is to know that the Lord is our light and salvation; whom or what then shall we fear? (Psalm 27 v 1). Dear brothers and sisters, let us be prudent in our actions during these periods, ensuring that we take necessary precautions in our activities as well as heed the advise of experts and people in authority. Above all, let us always keep ourselves in the fear of the Lord. To be still and know that God is still on the throne, forever keeping an eye on His own. In the midst of all the fear and possibly confusion going on, let us not be in a haste to make decisions, rather, let us commit all our ways to the Lord and allow Him to direct our path (Proverbs 3 vs 5-6). I pray that the Almighty grant each of us the necessary wisdom to help navigate through these times. May He place His hedge of protection over every one of us and our families while keeping us safe during these times and beyond. May His Spirit forever lead and keep us on the straight and righteous path all the days of our lives, that we may always abide in the rest and peace of our Heavenly Father. Amen. God Bless You, Pastor Tolu Ojo.

Psalms 133 NKJV Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the Lord commanded the blessing— Life forevermore.
”
Scripture Focus For The Week PSALM 121 (NKJV)
GOD THE HELP OF THOSE WHO SEEK HIM A Song of Ascents. 1. I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help?
6. The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night.
2. My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.
7. The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.
3. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber.
8. The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in
4. Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
From this time forth, and even forevermore.
5. The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand.
