First and foremost, praise be to Allah Subhanahu Wataala for with his grace and blessing, we are able to gather here at this 59th UTM convocation ceremony. On behalf of UTM, I warmly welcome all distinguished guests, parents and family members of graduates, alumni and invited guests. WWW.UTM.MY
NUMBER OF GRADUATING STUDENTS
At this 59th UTM Convocation Ceremony, a total of 5,402 graduates will be conferred their respective degrees, comprising: 394 Doctor of Philosophy degrees, 906 Master’s degrees, 2,505 Bachelor’s degrees, 558 Diplomas, and 1,039 Bachelor’s degrees and Diplomas from UTMSPACE Collaboration Programmes

UTM INTERNATIONAL GRADUATES
From this total, 325 graduates are international graduates from 30 countries. In this session there are 394 Doctor of Philosophy and 906 Master’s degree recipients, in addition to various academic award recipients. WWW.UTM.MY

For the record, up to this 59th Convocation, UTM has produced a total of 186,827 graduates of whom 7,789 are international graduates from over 70 countries. WWW.UTM.MY

CONGRATULATORY REMARKS
At this Convocation Ceremony, YBhg. Tan Sri Datin Paduka Siti Sadiah binti Sheikh Bakir will be procaimed as a UTM Pro Chancellor, while YBhg. Tan Sri Azman bin Hashim will be conferred the Honorary Doctorate in Leadership Management for his great contribution to the country and global community. The convocation session this morning will also witness the conferment of Dr Ahmad Kamal bin Idris and Dr Shamsuddin Hj Mohd Amin with the title of Emeritus Professor for their distinct and distinguished service to UTM. We have heard the acronym VUCA, which reflects the challenges you need to face namely volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. As we have often been reminded, we are now facing new challenges, one which is mostly talked about is Industry 4.0, where the role of humans in implementing tasks is becoming less significant. THE POWER OF COMMUNICATION
It has been said that jobs of the future are jobs that cannot be done by robots. And those who are relevant are the ones capable of being innovative, communicative and entrepreneurial, and creating opportunities.
