If viewed from the historical perspective, the role of UTM as a knowledge institution is indeed very significant, particularly in the development of the nations’ professional human resources. UTM’s role in producing technocrats in various fields of knowledge has begun since UTM’s inception as a Technical College, then elevated to the National Technology Institute and now recognized as an autonomous Research University (RU) located in Johor and fully support by State Government of Johor

Transformation at the national leadership level as well as at UTM has witnessed the successful implementation of the country's higher education agenda UTM remains fully committed to leading innovation towards global prosperity. Thus, I would like to congratulate the entire UTM community for achieving such a great recognition. My commendation to UTM for being ranked Top 50 in the QS Asia University Rankings 2018 and Top 1% Universities in the world. Indeed, this chain of success is a result of the unwavering effort and collaboration of all parties, which is very much aligned with the slogan of the State of Johor, Muafakat itu Berkat (Consensus leads to Barakah) WWW.UTM.MY
EFFORT LEADS TO SUCCESS
I believe that upon graduation, graduates will join the work force and start a new life. Thus, I would like to urge all graduates to strive diligently in shouldering your respective duties. Let us not forget the adage "effort leads to success" instilled in us since young. And do not forget to be patient in life that will always be filled with challenges. Armed with knowledge and soft skills, together with the distinct UTM brand, I believe all UTM graduates have a unique competitive edge WWW.UTM.MY
RESPECT AND APPRECIATE
My advice to graduates is to attain barakah from the knowledge gained, to respect and appreciate people around us who have made invaluable contributions towards our success, particularly our parents, teachers and lecturers. Indeed, the barakah of knowledge comes from the sincerity of parents and teachers in imparting their knowledge to us WWW.UTM.MY
