As of today, you are officially a graduate after having met challenges headon in attaining knowledge, gaining experience, and lighting the path of life. Equipped with knowledge, you are now able to advance further. Nevertheless, what is the meaning of success without paying homage to those who have rendered assistance and made sacrifices in ensuring your success. WWW.UTM.MY

The conferment of your degree today is evidence that if you put your heart and soul to achieve success and worked hard towards it, God willing, you will be successful despite challenges that come along your way. However, not many people can achieve success and thus, you should always be grateful with your achievement and be ready to chart your next move into the real world. WWW.UTM.MY

KNOWLEDGE IS A TRUST AND RESPONSIBILITY

The knowledge that you have gained is a kind of trust that is bestowed upon you and utilising the knowledge comes with great responsibility. The knowledge and technical competence you gained are not the only thing that you need in order to succeed in life.

GOOD PERSONALITY THROUGH KNOWLEDGE

Tan Sri Syed Naquib Al Attas, in his writing highlighted that your mastery of knowledge in various disciplines can only shape your good personality provided that you are able to apply and integrate the knowledge in tandem with your action in the larger landscape of life.

SIGNIFICANCE OF KNOWLEDGE

Thus, I would like to recommend three things as a reminder to all of us. First, use your knowledge in the best possible way to benefit you, your family and the community. This is because the knowledge that you possess can bring benefit or alternatively, it can also cause damage if it is wrongly utilised. WWW.UTM.MY

LIFELONG LEARNING TO MEET DEMANDS OF THE 21ST CENTURY

Second, continue to learn because lifelong learning requires you to always upgrade your knowledge, skills and competency in response to the demand of the 21st century which requires the ability to adapt to the challenges of Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0. Besides, the lifespan of knowledge is very short in this era.

ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL

Third, I would like to emphasize that we should not forget to be grateful for everything that we have especially the knowledge acquired. We should show our gratitude in everything that we do, for example, we should not be selfish but instead, always care for others.
