ENTRY REQUIREMENT The general minimum requirements for entry into a Bachelor's Degree Programme is as follows:
Senior High School/Senior Secondary School/other equivalent pre-university examinations from government schools (with the period of at least 11 to 12 years of study from primary to higher secondary); or
General Certificates of Education (GCE) ‘A’ Level, Diploma in related fields or other equivalent pre-university examinations ; or
Any other certificate that is recognized by the senate of the university as equivalent to the above; and
English language requirements (please refer to page 4); and

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT An international applicant must provide evidence of English language proficiency in addition to academic credential. Applicants must fulfil one of the options below:

This requirement is a prerequisite for all international students to enrol in their respective study programmes. Candidates who do not meet the minimum English language requirement will have to attend a Certified Intensive English Programme (CIEP) conducted by the ELS Language Centre and must pass a minimum level of 107 before he or she can be allowed to register for the faculty foundation programme or respective study programmes.

FACULTY FOUNDATION PROGRAMME Subject to academic qualification, students may be required to attend and pass the foundation programme before they are allowed to register for their respective study programmes. The duration of the programme is One (1) semester.
STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMME
UTM offers 1-2 semesters exchange programmes at undergraduate and graduate levels of studies. A wide range of courses focusing on Engineering, Technology, ICT, Education and Management, fully taught in English, are offered. Academic Visits Spend up to 7 days in UTM to experience the unique Southeast Asian cultures, to study the global issue or to get access to extraordinary learning opportunities. Students can join short seminars or discussions with students at host faculties as well as experience the cultural exchange activities. Internship/Research Attachment The programme provides opportunities for students to pursue cutting-edge trans-disciplinary research work for 1-2 semesters. Students can apply for internship/attachment throughout the year. UTM Summer School The programme offers a wide range of interesting activities involving the environment, local communities, heritage, and tradition. COST OF LIVING
The cost of living in Malaysia is lower than most developing countries. On top of the tuition fees, students need sufficient money to pay for accommodation, food, books, travel, entertainment, telephone, and other study-related expenses in Johor Bahru. Therefore, students need to plan their expenses carefully. All single students are guaranteed an on-campus accommodation. The overall expenses of living on campus are estimated to be between RM700 – RM1200 per person per month (or USD200-USD350). This includes room, books, food, personal expenditures and travel within Johor Bahru. Cost will vary depending on personal requirements and lifestyle. Example of Malaysia Living Cost:

STUDENT VISA International students are required to have a student pass to study in Malaysia. Candidates must apply for a single entry visa (VAL/VDR) before entering this country. UTM will assist candidates/students in obtaining a VAL/VDR and visa/student pass. Candidates are advised to visit Malaysia Immigration Department website at www.imi.gov.my or UTM ISC’s website at www.utm.my/international-student for detailed information. Among other services provided by UTM include housing and hostel, orientation, insurance and medical card, international student society and welfare.
HEALTH REQUIREMENT An international student must be certified by a UTM medical doctor to be in good health for the issuance of a student pass and/or student registration. The university has the right to withdraw the offer or to terminate candidates from their studies if they are found to suffer from or to be a carrier of diseases, or to suffer from a medical condition requiring ADMISSION DATE: continuous medical care that will adversely affect their studies at UTM. Certified photocopies of translated certificates (if issued in other than English or Malay language). 3. Certified photocopies of English language certificates (IELTS/TOEFL). 4. 1 complete of full passport (including blank pages). 5. 1 passport-sized photograph. 6. Verification letter from sponsor (if applicable). 7. Personal medical health report. 8. Processing fees – A processing fee of RM114.00/USD30 (Bank Draft) must be submitted with your application, made payable to BENDAHARI UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MALAYSIA. Do not send cash or cheque.
