Our Countdown to 100 Years 1920–2020
A Legacy of Success We were born as New Haven College, a branch of Northeastern University, on the Yale campus in 1920. Although we shared facilities and faculty with Yale for the next 40 years, we quickly forged a separate identity, based on equipping students with the practical skills and knowledge needed for success in the world. After moving to West Haven in 1960 and becoming the University of New Haven in 1970, our reputation for experience-based learning began to soar. Today, that reputation encompasses exceptional responsiveness to the rapidly changing economic and technological landscape as we harness new advances in technology, reshape teaching and learning, and continue fostering an education based on creating, doing — and succeeding.
