Collaborating with innovation experts within and beyond the unique living laboratory of Arizona State University, UDI was able to respond quickly and practically.

President, Arizona State University Chairman, University Design Institute

“A core tenet of ASU’s mission is to apply our talent, tools and resources to meaningfully address societal challenges at scale. At UDI, we delve into the relationship between design, perpetual innovation and social transformation, and exchange ideas about how the higher education system can continue to demonstrate leadership and service to learners, communities, and societies worldwide.”

“The University Design Institute (UDI) was established in 2019 to move the needle in global higher education. We recognize that traditional models are inadequate in the face of rapid and unprecedented social, technological, and economic changes. Successful 21st century higher education needs bold, new designs; leapfrogging ideas; systemic approaches; and a relentless focus on Theinnovation.COVID-19 pandemic has both challenged and inspired UDI’s work and priorities since our origin. Projects in digital transformation, fiscal resource diversification, and teaching and learning became especially urgent because of the pressures facing leaders, institutions and systems amid lockdowns and continuously changing work and living conditions.
