Researching the future
Last year, UCF received nearly $133 million in research funding. The Central Florida Research Park, adjacent to the main campus, is ranked as one of the top research parks in the nation. It is home to more than 90 high-tech companies that employ more than 9,000 people. The Office of Undergraduate Research at UCF offers paid research positions to students. One million dollars is allocated annually to support students through projects and hundreds of research experiences.

Living at UCF
UCF offers a variety of on-campus experiences for students, from traditional residential communities to full-fledged apartment living with single rooms, kitchens and living rooms. All provide resident services and include free Internet and access to laundry rooms. UCF also offers university-affiliated housing adjacent to the campus. There are nearly 8,000 beds in oncampus and university-affiliated housing, 70 percent of which are allocated to freshmen. The Burnett Honors College is the center of academic excellence at UCF. This limitedaccess college allows students to study within a community of faculty and scholars, researching their favorite topics and conversing with internationally prominent professionals. Open to students of any major, the Honors program of more than 1,700 students creates the intimate atmosphere of a small, liberal arts college within a larger university. The LEAD Scholars Program is designed for students who want to develop their leadership skills. This two-year program is the only one of its kind in Florida, and is nationally recognized by the Templeton Foundation and by Florida Leader magazine. NCAA Athletics at UCF UCF student-athletes are winners on and off the field. In the classroom, for the third year in a row, all 16 of UCF’s athletic teams exceeded the NCAA requirements for academic success. UCF has never had a team penalized for low academic standing. UCF is having success on the field too. UCF won Conference USA (C-USA) titles in women’s soccer, men’s golf and women’s outdoor track & field. Returning starters and strong recruiting classes have preseason polls predicting success in several fall sports, including football and men’s and women’s basketball. With new facilities, great action and plenty of sports to choose from, rooting for the black and gold has never been easier.
