Better Together When associate professor of physics COSTAS E F T H I MI O U proposed
a research project involving string theory to undergraduate student C HR I STO P H E R F RY E , ’ 1 3, an
ideal collaboration was conceived. Under Dr. Efthimiou’s mentorship, Christopher became a Barry M. Goldwater Scholar, one of only four in UCF’s history. “Research experience allows students to determine whether they might prefer a career in academics or in industry, and it also helps a great deal when applying for graduate school and jobs,” says Christopher.

With every three-point shot, touchdown, goal and award our players achieve, UCF Athletics scores points toward the national recognition it deserves. In everything they do, our players work to make UCF a better place to live, work and play. The Knights are champions on and off the field, too. They’ve won in football, women’s basketball, softball, women’s soccer, men’s golf and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field. But they’ve also triumphed in the classroom — UCF student-athletes have earned an average GPA of 3.0 or better for 11 consecutive semesters. Requirements UCF requires a minimum of 18 high school units to be considered for admission. Students must complete four years of English, four years of math (Algebra I and above), three years of science, three years of social studies, two years of the same foreign language (in sequence) and two academic electives. Meeting minimum requirements does not automatically guarantee admission. SAT scores are compiled using the highest critical reading and math components from each test taken. ACT scores are based on the highest reported composite score. All SAT or ACT test score submissions must include a writing score. UCF operates on a rolling admissions basis. Students may be notified of an admission decision any time before the application deadline, following the receipt of all official supporting documents. A freshman applicant is a student with 11 or fewer credit hours of college course work after high school graduation. Students who complete an A.A. degree while still in high school are considered for admission as a first-time-in-college student (freshman). Admission to UCF is offered based upon a review of the high school academic record, quality and level of difficulty of courses, GPA, grade trends, and SAT or ACT scores. Supporting documents like letters of recommendation and an essay can also be extremely useful.

I invite you to schedule a campus visit to discover how UCF stands for opportunity for you. We hope you enjoy our campus.
Seeing the campus is an important part of the college selection process. Although UCF does not require a campus visit for admission, we highly recommend it. Being on campus and experiencing our culture is the best way to decide if UCF is right for you. Our Campus Visit Experience includes an information session followed by a 90-minute walking tour of the campus. If you want to see the UCF campus, you can register for our Campus Visit Experience and Open House events online. Tours are led by student ambassadors, who provide a unique firsthand experience. So pick your dates early — sessions fill up quickly. VISIT US
